    The only explanation for me is that he has already given up on this season and is already planning for next. There are rumours that he will get those two two strikers we have been linked with recently in the summer and he might want proper cover for Johnson if he's going to offload Degen etc. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been told his job is safe no matter what and that some sort of investment is on the way. :|

    Whelan accepted the fact that we were ravaged with injuries last Saturday but still went on to say that Rafa was "keeping" his best players for last night in the hope he could win the CL in order to get any job he wants in Europe. That's what the prick said after Fulham and again last night when questioned about it. The point about Whelan is that he doesn't seem to give a fuck about the facts. He's obviously another ex player extremely bitter about missing out on the Sky gravy train and just spews his bile out to anyone who'll hire him.

    Ronnie Whelan is an UTTER UTTER CUNT ! He was on Irish TV last night doing a hatchet job on Rafa. Slated the manager before, during and after the game. The only one of the panel to go for a Lyon win before the game. The bile that comes out of this prick is unbelievable. Did Rafa run over the cunt's dog, or something ? The other twat Dunphy was pathetic as well. First said Rafa has spent "around £200m net"..........then after the game he had Rafa had spent £200m to £250m and recouped around £140m in sales leaving a deficit of around £150m !!

As for ex-reds, Houghton, along with Whelan, are the most bitter I've heard.
