  1. We're no longer paying big wages hence why we are getting rid of the crap high earners and why Gylfi went to spurs instead of us. So no we can no longer attract top players. We just have to gamble on young up and coming players like Borini and hope they come good. I'm hoping we can get some loan signings as we can then get better players. Buying top quality is not going to happen at liverpool until we are somehow able to get back into the top 4.
  2. He's rubbish and seems to panic when he gets closed down and gives the ball away. Saying that he gives the ball away when he's not under pressure as well. Why we still play him ive no idea.
  3. yeah but he's still shit. Surely there must be some club out there as gullible as us that want him for £10m.
  4. Don't rate Giroud personally but podolski is a good signing and of course sahin is quality.
  5. Don't see how people can say he's not worth the money. Arteta cost £10m and he's 30, fat frank cost £11m sooooo many years ago(with inflation over the years that would be valued as higher than £15m), carrick £18m and he's shit, anderson £18m etc. He's worth it because he would bring a lot to our team with him and lucas together. Henderson might actually learn some bottle from being around both of them, but not getting my hopes up on that one.
  6. If we could shift any of carroll, henderson, downing, aquilani, cole, spearing and adam i'll be happy. None of them have shown themselves to be good enough.
  7. Swansea City's Joe Allen closes in on Liverpool switch | This is South Wales Swansea City's Joe Allen closes in on Liverpool switch Wednesday, August 01, 2012South Wales Evening PostFollow JOE Allen has agreed terms on a bumper contract with Liverpool as the midfielder edges closer to the Swansea City exit door. The Evening Post can reveal the Allen camp were given permission to speak to Liverpool last month. Joe Allen And we understand the 22-year-old has settled on an Anfield deal which, a source explained, will “set him up for life”. However, though Swansea allowed Allen’s representatives to talk terms with Liverpool, they are still haggling over the size of the transfer fee. Liverpool have tabled an offer of £12.5 million plus a player on loan — thought to be Jonjo Shelvey — which, the Post understands, Swansea have not responded to officially. Swansea are digging their heels in over the deal, and are thought likely to demand £15 million before allowing the Welsh international to join former boss Brendan Rodgers on Merseyside. That is the sum which would trigger a release clause in Allen’s Liberty Stadium contract. The clause states that if Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or one of the two Manchester clubs offer £15 million for Allen, Swansea must sell. Swansea, though, may yet say no to Liverpool even if they do up their bid because of a clause in the compensation package agreed when Rodgers left for the Reds earlier this summer. Swansea suggested last week that Liverpool had broken an agreement between the two clubs by moving for Allen. The Post understands Rodgers was disappointed by that statement and believes he has done nothing wrong by registering an interest in the Pembrokeshire-born star. Swansea’s former manager is a huge Allen fan and, for all the wrangling, the likelihood is that he will eventually get his man. The player now appears to have his heart set on Liverpool, and it seems the move will happen once the clubs settle on a fee. Swansea are understandably playing hardball as they attempt to get every penny possible for a player they have nurtured since he was just nine years old. But the club’s hierarchy are also aware that it is difficult to hold on to someone whose head has been turned. The Allen situation is complicated further by a second clause in the four-year Swansea deal he signed last summer. It states that if any club outside the big five offers £10 million for his services, Swansea must sanction a deal. And given that Tottenham are thought to be interested, it is not inconceivable that they could lose Allen for a smaller fee than the £12.5 million-plus-player package which is already on the table. Allen is in action for the Team GB Olympic squad against Uruguay tonight, when a draw will be enough to see Stuart Pearce’s team reach next weekend’s quarter-finals. It seems unlikely his club future will be sorted out before Team GB’s Olympic campaign comes to an end. Liverpool were last night close to freeing up funds — plus a place in their squad — for Allen with midfielder Alberto Aquilani close to joining Fiorentina for £7 million. Michael Laudrup, meantime, has insisted that the Allen situation has not changed. “There’s no latest — he is with the GB team at the Olympics so I have not had the opportunity to talk to him since I arrived,” the Swansea boss said. “There’s nothing concrete. I can read the papers talking about the interest — it’s normal there is interest because the new manager of Liverpool is the ex-manager of Joe Allen. “We all know he is a very good player, but I can assure you there’s nothing concrete at this moment. “Let’s see what happens — I can’t really tell you anything else right now.”
  8. No we should be getting shot of adam, cole, aqua, downing and carroll regardless of who we bring in. He's a lazy player and thats one of the reason i can see rodgers not wanting him. Don't expect him to close down players or track back and expect him to run down blind alleys a lot.
  9. big time highlights player. Don't get why anyone would want him. He really is wank most of the time.
  10. Exactly, i don't give two fucks about stats i go by what i see with my eyes. Stats can be used in so many different ways, but my eyes have seen henderson play bland football and be scared to try anything all season. Not good at attacking nor good at defending. My eyes also saw allen look to want the ball, trying things out and look to have a stronger mentality. I was quite fortunate as i worked in swansea for nearly two months so went to the home games with the guys i was working with so i saw him first hand. His all round game is just better than henderson and he's not scared to try things. Ive seen allen dominate a midfield in matches and control a game. Yet to see henderson do anything remotely close to it.
  11. Difference is though that joe allen has never played RW, henderson played A LOT of games for sunderland as a Rw. In fact in one season he played the majority of the season there. So dalglish thought he was getting a player than can play both. In fact sunderland fans thought he played better on the RW than in the middle. So that's not really a valid question to ask.
  12. Allen is easily better than henderson. I hope we sell him as allen is the better prospect.
  13. I don't think Kenny deserved another year at all. If it had been uncle woy everyone would have wanted his head for how poor our 2nd half of the season was. Actually wanting carroll, downing, adam and henderson was bad enough. But even though they were playing total turd he still kept on using them. Everyone knew they were all going to play in the final to justify him buying them even though they were crap. kenny would have kept on doing the same thing next season so i can see why they sacked him.
  14. yeah i don't understand why we're not in for hoillett unless its because they think he could hinder sterlings' progress. Its not as if downing could as he's shit. He was easily worth a gamble on a tribunal fee.
  15. Reds interest in Ba could lead to Carroll deal (From The Northern Echo) Reds interest in Ba could lead to Carroll deal 8:00am Wednesday 18th July 2012 in Sport By Paul Fraser, Chief Football Writer SENEGALESE striker Demba Ba could be the key bargaining tool in Newcastle United's attempts to take England's Andy Carroll back to Tyneside. Liverpool's new boss Brendan Rodgers is attempting to transform the face of the squad he has inherited and as well as offloading Carroll he is keen to give his attack a fresh look. After landing Fabio Borini from Roma, Rodgers is hoping to bring in Theo Walcott from Arsenal. Sources close to the Anfield club suggest Joe Cole, following the end of his Lille loan, will also have a chance to revive his Merseyside career. And with Luis Suarez lined up to spearhead Liverpool's attack, Rodgers is ready to offload target-man Carroll at the right price and the aim is to replace him with a more versatile forward. Ba is one of those under consideration. He was even before it became clear that Newcastle had made an official offer to take Carroll on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal at the end of next season. The 27-year-old, who started and scored the winner in Monday night's friendly with Monaco in Germany, has been the subject of speculation all summer because of a £7m clause in his contract. That clause is, reportedly, due to expire at the end of the month and Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has stated that he would prefer to keep the former West Ham man next season. TrimRecipe.com/Diet However, it has emerged that Ba will be mentioned by Liverpool in any further discussions which take place about the possible departure of Carroll. Ba's preference is to play as the figurehead in attack and as well as providing that option he also offers the versatility which Rodgers is seeking from the forwards he has in his squad. Liverpool are asking £20m for Carroll, but their interest in Ba would help to lower that fee significantly - down to somewhere close to what Newcastle would like to pay for the man they sold for £35m 18 months ago. Pardew has been looking to bring in a new striker this summer after sanctioning the departures of Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands. Newcastle had been in discussions with Twente for their Dutch talent Luuk de Jong, but admitted defeat when the Eredivisie outfit demanded more cash. And yesterday Borussia Monchengladbach - whose interest and preferred destination of the player was reported in The Northern Echo last month - completed the signing of de Jong. He signed a five-year deal, with the Germans paying £10m-plus a further £2m in add-ons. After pulling out of the race to sign de Jong, Pardew turned his attention to Carroll. And he said: "That whole process is a little bit more involved with the chairman and the board at Liverpool. "We have got a great team here, a great squad, and if Andy Carroll comes it will only add to us. It's simple, really. "Sometimes transfers are done at corporate level. I'm slightly detached from that. It will be what it will be. "It's been said that he's available and if we are involved, then we will be involved because of the figures, not anything else, because we know he's good enough." Newcastle's transfer activity does not stop there. They are also closing in on a deal for full-back Mathieu Debuchy. The France international, also wanted by Inter Milan, has informed Lille he wants to join Newcastle in a £7m deal to team up with Yohan Cabaye. Debuchy said: "Despite my commitment to Lille - the club is in my heart - I am 100 per cent committed to leaving. I want to leave LOSC. The coach wants to keep me but I will not change my opinion." And Lille boss Rudi Garcia said: "He has expressed his wish to leave. I understand that. Now we are searching for a possible replacement." Newcastle have been hoping to sell Danny Simpson, who has 12 months left on his contract, before completing the signature of Debuchy. But one of the clubs interested in landing Simpson are also looking around. They are known to have been in touch with Nottingham Forest over the possible purchase of Chris Gunter.
  16. Its not like he hasn't seen carroll play. He said the first thing he did when joining the club was to watch dvds of all our matches last season. So he pretty much knows how good or bad carroll is. yeah he hasn't seen him in training, but he's seen him be a shithouse on the pitch plenty of times.
  17. really? justifiably? Im justifiably pissed how much money i wasted watching him walking around the pitch like he didn't give a shit. do you think he cares about my feelings? so excuse me if i don't care about his feelings when you can count the amount of good games he's had.
  18. apparently, he's said he wants to go back to Newcastle - one of the Geordie papers is apparently carrying the story... http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/07/16/andy-carroll-wants-to-return-to-newcastle-united-72703-31401563/
  19. I bet you he's found innocent, fucking corrupt wankers.
  20. Borini just posted a picture of him on the plane on the way to england on his twitter with the message "speak soon my friends".
  21. Sky Sports News just confirmed Borini is having a medical at Liverpool today
  22. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers desperate to persuade Maxi Rodriguez to stay and help with his Kop revolution - Mirror Online Don't go Maxi! Rodgers desperate to persuade Rodriguez to stay and help with his Liverpool revolution "I have known about Maxi for a long time. He is experienced, a very good player and he will understand 120 per cent about the way I want us to play," says the new boss Max attack: Rodgers wants to keep Rodriguez as part of his new-look forward line John Powell Brendan Rodgers will make one final attempt to persuade Maxi Rodriguez to stay at Liverpool. The Argentine is keen to move back to his native country, and his first club Newell's Old Boys have been working hard to bring him home. But Rodgers believes the veteran midfielder can play an important role in the transformation he hopes to undertake at Anfield, because of his knowledge playing a similar style for much of his career with Argentina and Atletico Madrid. The winger still has 12 months left on his contract, but the new boss has made clear he will not stand in the way of any player who wants to leave before his regime gets into full swing. Maxi was told last season he could go when Kenny Dalglish was manager, with the club deciding his massive wages weren't warranted for a player who performed just a bit part role. Rodgers though, revealed he will try to change the 31-year-old's mind, because the South American could perform such a big job for him over the coming months. Big plans: Brendan Rodgers wants to change the way Liverpool play - and he wants Maxi to be part of it Andrew Powell "I have known about Maxi for a long time. He is experienced, a very good player and he will understand 120 per cent about the way I want us to play," he explained. "I would like him to stay, but sometimes there are issues that surround that and I understand that - which is why I am speaking to him now. "But I would love to have him here, I think he is a very good player. Whether it was starting or coming off the bench, he would be very good for our squad, because he understands what we want." Rodgers though, may be too late to persuade Maxi to stay, with the international winger desperately unhappy last season after failing to hold down a first team place, despite looking Liverpool's most likely source of goals. The new manager understands that, and he admitted: "He doesn't speak the language, it has been difficult for his family, so if a player like him wanted to leave, it would not be because of the club. "I have had a couple of real good conversations with him. I know his thoughts and how he is thinking. "It was a difficult season for him and he probably felt he should have played a lot more. We will hopefully see where he is at over the next couple of weeks and find a solution." Rodgers see his forward line comprised of industrious, quick and intelligent players who can score goals, and he would love Maxi to be part of it. But another player who can expect his Anfield career to be given a major shot in the arm by the arrival of the former Swansea boss is Jordan Henderson, who struggled in his first year at the club after a big money move from Sunderland. Big future: Brendan Rodgers is a fan of Jordan Henderson Alex Livesey Liverpool fans themselves remain skeptical about the midfielder, despite his late call up into the England squad for the Euros, but Rodgers insists he's a big fan. "Jordan got a wee bit of stick last year but do you know what, this is a boy who is 21 years of age," Rodgers said. "He's come here for a bucket load of money, to a massive club, with massive expectation. He's moved away from home, he's on his own and he has to be a world beater straight away. "It was never going to happen. When I first saw him at Sunderland I thought 'this kid is going to be a really good player' - and this kid can play football. "If he is in a certain system - in an environment which is going to help him and educate him in the game - you will see he's a player."
  23. Well rodgers knows exactly what he's gonna get from him having worked with him twice now. He's gone back to roma and done well and now he's gonna play for us. I think he'll do well as he seems to have that mentality, work rate and desire that rodgers is looking for in a player.
  24. Fabio Borini - Liverpool agree £12m swoop for Roma striker - Mirror Online Fab deal: Liverpool agree £12m fee with Roma for Fabio Borini The Italian international is set to become Brendan Rodgers first signing since he took over at Anfield This way to Anfield! Fabio Borini is set to move to Liverpool Getty Liverpool have agreed a £12million fee to make Fabio Borini the first signing of new boss Brendan Rodgers' Anfield revolution. The Italian is expected to complete the move by the weekend, after the deal was sealed when the English club offered Roma a swift profit on their investment in the young striker. It is something of a coup for the Reds and their new manager, with Borini considered the rising star of Italian football, after a fine first season in Serie A concluded with his inclusion in the national squad for Euro 2012. Rodgers knows the 21 year old well, after first coaching him in the Chelsea youth team, and then taking him on loan at Swansea - where he had a dramatic impact by helping the Welsh club to get promoted to the Premier League. Borini was regarded as a rich prospect by Chelsea who signed him from Bologna as a 16-year-old, but they lost him to Parma last summer, when he exercised his right to move after reaching the end of his contract. But before even kicking a ball in anger for Parma he was loaned out to Roma, who then bought a half stake in the striker after he impressed in the early part of the season. Borini produced a strike rate of one goal in two games to win his first Italy cap and secure his place in the squad for Euro 2012. Rodgers feared his move for the young forward would be scuppered by the complications of joint ownership, but Roma removed that hurdle by buying out Parma, to take their investment in the player to close on £6million. Now the Reds have agreed to double that fee to ensure Rodgers gets the striker he wants to get his Anfield revolution off to a flying start. The arrival of Borini could signal the end of Andy Carroll's Liverpool career, with the big striker likely to be loaned out to AC Milan, though West Ham have also expressed an interest in the centre forward.
