  1. I watch a lot of french football, so my opinion of Benzema is mostly from his time at Lyon (but also for the french national team). He's fast, strong, has good technique, a lot of skill and he can finnish with both feet as well as his head. As for the "Torres equivalent", look no further than Eden Hazard (even though he's not a striker). He's got everything needed to be a world class player soon.
  2. Given 40 million + Sturridge (who I rate), It might be possible to get Benzema and Hazard. Benzema, Suarez and Hazard together would be awesome, and within a year or so I'd love to see Suso there as well.
  3. Cesc is born 4.5.1987, and the tournament was in august 2003.
  4. Sterling and Silva are both better than Kaca, and Ngoo is better than Dalla Valle... They'd never make it at Liverpool anyway.
  5. Haven't seen much of him, but he's been linked with a loan move to Juventus this summer (he played for them last season as well) and I've noted that their supporters think he can be a very decent addition to the team. He is supposedly very fast, and can play in several positions.
  6. Mavinga did train with the first team, and now he's demoted to the reserves. Surely you can understand his frustration at seeing his career take one step back... I'd feel the same way if I was him.
  7. Agreed. He sees training with the reserves as a demotion, and he's right to feel that way. He should go on loan to a decent team, as should Amoo, Eccleston et al.
  8. For me he looks much better than Dalla Valle, Eccleston et al, and I think he has a real chance of making it at the club.... Then again, I said the same thing about Marvin Pourie (who I still think will make it)
  9. Lukaku if possible, or Conor Wickham. Or perhaps a more senior player, like Llorente.
  10. As for "not getting picked", the FIFA rules have outlined the guidelines for when there is sporting just cause (the 10pct rule). If you aren't in the 25 man squad, however, you aren't qualified to play (huge difference). Which is a clear demotion, and gives just cause to terminate the contract. Of course most clubs and players will try to find an amicable solution, but if they can't then there is no way that the player is bound to fullfil his contract.
  11. You're right about Pandev... Which proves the point.
  12. I get that this is your life philosophy. You should give it a try though..... As for clubs restricting players choices earlier, the 25 man squads is a game changer. If Heinze hadn't been sold then you'd assume that Ferguson would have let him play a bit. That assumption goes out the window when players aren't registred in the squad.... I've worked for several years with legislation btw, incorporating EU directives into national law among other things.
  13. You should try to actually read something about the subject... I've even given you a link to the FIFA rules, which proves you are wrong. To take it to a more complex level isn't really necessary as you don't even get the simple basics. And no, an injury does not constitute as just cause for termination, as stated explicitly by FIFPro.
  14. You have no idea of what you're talking about. You can terminate a contract if you have just cause. And you have just cause if you're an established first team player who is demoted to the reserves for a season... That much anyone can read from the FIFA transfer rules. As there is a need for an objective guideline, the rules state that you can terminate the contract at the end of the season if you've played less than 10 pct of the games. However, given the 25 player squad limit, you know that the players who aren't in the squad will not get the chance to play. Obviously they will then have just cause to terminate their contract. If you're employer don't want you, and are forcing you out, they can't restrict your future career choice.
  15. How elequant. http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/01/27/64/30/statusandtransfereinhalt2010.pdf Article 15, terminating a contract with sporting just cause, tries to incorporate labour law into football transfers. The essence is simple: It's not enough to pay the wages - playing football is an implicit part of the contract agreement. The article is, however, not aligned with the new 25 man squads. If you are not in the squad you are refused the right to work - which is just cause for unilateral termination of the contract. A year without football will influence their future, and might destroy their career.
  16. It doesn't matter if they are paid. They signed for Man C to play football in the PL, and if that is taken away from them then the premise for their contract agreement has changed. The principle is even included in the UEFA transfer rules, which state that an established player who gets "frozen out" (don't get to play first team football) is free to cancel his contract. I know that the UK has more liberal labour laws than most other countries, but even so I don't believe it to be possible to demote a person to a position which is lower than what he was hired for. Wouldn't you say that not being in the 25 man squad is a clear demotion for a player with international pedigree, and who has been a regular PL player in the past? You could also argue that the protection the rules gives to clubs is clearly not needed for those cases where they decide themselves that they don't need the player
  17. You can't compare this with the Heinze transfer. If you don't get a squad number you don't get to play, and if you don't get to play you are refused the opportunity to work. As the club has decided they don't want the players anymore, and thus are changing the implicit terms of the contract agreements, the players should be free to chose their new clubs themself. If this was taken to court I would suspect they would even be able to leave on a free transfer.
  18. I doubt it's even legal to limit their career choice if they are forced out...
  19. Micah Richards, and play him as a DM (where he played for their youth team). Johnson would also be a quality signing if he can regain his form from two years ago.
  20. Sterling has amazing ability (I first saw C.Ronaldo as a 16 yo, and Sterling is just as good), but he needs to become more of a team player. He dribbles way to much. Michael Ngoo is starting to look quite a decent talent btw. He didn't look like much of a talent the first few times I watched him play (the Milk Cup for Man U, as well as his first month or so for Liverpool), but he has improved a lot. His performance vs. Cardiff was awesome... In fact there are several players who have improved a lot under the guidance of Borrell (Ince, Coady, Ngoo etc).
  21. What are his qualifications? If he's to stay around after the sale you'd assume he's qualified to bring something to the club, but I really can't see what that would be...
  22. I have a few friends who are working on a project in India atm, and they've told me that the press over there have reported that Suresh Ambani has made an offer for the club.
  23. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/videos/business/ET-Now-Mukesh-Ambani-Subrata-Roy-eye-Liverpool/videoshow/6263232.cms It's reported on tv in India... They quote their own sources, and they've talked to Subrata Roy who has confirmed that he's in the race.
  24. You'll never know how any of the candidates will turn out before they have been in charge for a while. Gut feelings are as good as anything atm. Subrata Roy is known for both his philantropy and his interest in sport, and he's proven himself an investor who's in it for the long term. I doubt he'd want the kind of attention Gillett and Hicks are getting... We know who they are, and their track record is there to be seen for everyone. What do we know about those behind Huang, Rhone or Kirdi? Nothing...
