  1. Granada made a gigantic financial blunder with their first deal with Liverpool (not the share issue). They haven't even recovered half of their input. And Granada bought a part of the commercial rights, 50% in certain areas.
  2. Vincent Vega, I think you'll find that Thaksin has actually improved the human rights record in Thailand (with the exception of the reintroduction of capital punishment), and moved them in a direction towards more and more democracy. He's also turned the country around economically. True, he has introduced a more aggressive "war against drugs", and true they have reintroduced the use of capital punishment, but other than that you'll find that other human rights issues involves things that you'll find in Europe as well.
  3. As for the human rights issue: http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-usa/index http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-fra/index http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-deu/index http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-rus/index http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-tha/index Russia and USA have many times as many human rights violations as Thailand have, and the only major difference between Thailand and countries such as France or Germany is that they have capital punishment in Thailand. There are two major human rights issues here: - The authorization for the police to use "deadly force", as self defence, in the war against drug dealers. - Capital punishment You'll find that USA have the same issues, and many more....
  4. Could you sum up the points for why you think Thailand have "one of the worst human rights records"? I've tried to have a look at this before, and I haven't really seen anything there that can't compare to e.g USA. As for Morgan vs Thaksin: Morgan wasn't willing to pay full value for a share issue, while Thaksin might be. It's a financial decision, not a personal vendetta vs Morgan. And if this is a share issue, which I expect it to be, then it wouldn't mean an extra £65 million to spend. That's the Leeds way, and would be doomed to be a failure. Liverpool could probably spend about £25 million from it, and even then they would have to ensure the total wages don't increase. This is a one off payement, and should be treated as such as well.
  5. And while I'm at it: Why can I only use the "quick reply"? I can't get "reply" or "edit" to work :-(
  6. I forgot to add that Dave is right about the five year perspective... The points for each year are accumulated!
  7. I know the answer, but since I'm not Torby I won't tell! :P The answer lies here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/index.html A well respected site, and Bert knows his stuff! Ok, I'm not that irritated over the fact that Dave overlooked my "supreme knowledge" :) so I'll give you the answer: It's all about how many points each team from one nation (the average) take from one season in the european cup. England are second in the ranking, behind Spain, and while France have strengthened their position Germany and Italy have weakened theirs - all relative to England. So far the english have accumulated 11.250 points, the french 13.500 points, the german 4.714 points, and the italians 8,875 points. Spain have strengthened their position as leaders. England can't get any more points now, so the french will get a step or two closer over the two finals. However this will be insignificant, as they will have to have at least two more years of this quality before they can overtake England. For the 05/06 season I think France have an excellent chance of having four teams in the CL, but as I said: it will be at the expence of Germany.
  8. What part of it? :P Carvalho would be the solution to the lack of pace in the Liverpool defence btw, so it would be a shame to see him play for Chelskji. He's skillful as well as pacey and tough, and over the past two seasons he's proved himself a world class central defender. Him alongside Hyypiä would be awesome....
  9. Drogba had a very good 02/03 season, so he's not a "one season wonder"... Perhaps a "two season wonder"? ;-)
  10. Cissé was player of the year two seasons ago, aged 20 and the youngest player of the year for more than 40 years.... But he's become crap since then :-P And Rushian, I think you'll find that it was Cissés goal average that was the third highest, not the number of goals scored.
  11. It might be that the current U14 team is crap, but the U15 team is said to be a truly gifted generation of young players. Charlie Barnett, James Frayne, Michael Burns etc are said to be amazing prospects. Robbie Fowlers brother is in the team btw, if my memory serves me correct. The U13 team is also said to be very good (Thomas Ince playes there). There was a competition here in Norway (among the top 12 rated talents, where the winner (actually there were two of them) got a "trial" with Liverpool. They played with both the U14 team and the U19 team (this was last season), and they both said the U14 team was extremely impressive - almost as good as the U19 side. One of the players, Per Ciljan Skjelbred (16 years old now) has since then signed a three year contract for Rosenborg (and has made his debut for them), but Liverpool have told him that whenever he wants to go abroad he is welcome to join Liverpool.
  12. Compared to Arsenal, Man U and Chelskji, Liverpool bring in very few youth players from abroad (including Scotland, Ireland etc), and while Man U often bring in players from e.g London (Beckham, Eagles, Richardson and Martin, to name a few) Liverpool tend to trust their ability to develop local youngsters.
  13. Dancing Dave, are you Fat Dunc from Kraptalk?
  14. While I agree with you (Horton) about Luzi, I disagree with what you say about Diarra: He's been a regular for a fantastic french U21 team, and has had a good season for Bastia. He's got fantastic potential, and hasn't blocked the way for any youngsters either (he has been on loan to other clubs since he was signed). I'd like to see both Luzi and Dudek leave, Jones signed and Paul Harrison promoted to third choice.
  15. I think Moores is the best chairman Liverpool could possibly get. He's not in it for the money, but for the genuine interest in the club. He wants the club to be independent, and he hasn't once poured in any money, nor has he taken out any. That's the way it should be. Look at Newcastle - the owners take out huge dividends every year.
  16. Kranjcar has played for the first team since he was just 16 years old, and has enormous potential. As for this Goran Jnot, I believe it's a wind up!:thumbdown
  17. Blackburn is his new club, and he made his debut for their U17 team last weekend.
  18. ....Ian Frodsham. His name symbols the core values of Liverpool Football Club. He might not be a Liverpool legend in terms of first team football, but his achievements were great considering the circumstances.
  19. He was 181cm when he was a U16 player (was mentioned in a squad presentation of the St Etienne U16-players some time ago), and most sites on the Internet have just copied that information. He was then the biggest player in the squad, three cm taller than anyone else.
  20. Or if he was on here... Everyone talked about the rumours in January. Why make this into a which is the better forum feud? My preference is Liverpoolway. Always has been and always will be.
  21. I remember it Rushian :-) There are four people I trust when it comes to Liverpool matters; Torby, Will, you and Dave, so I took notice of it!
  22. Rashid can claim his glory when Cissé joins as well as Kewell...
  23. Rashid, you can claim your glory when/if Cissé signs... There were many who reported the part about Kewell, including myself.
