Monday Jul 3:
Szoboszlai officially signs in and does all the promo stuff with LFC TV. He’s a bit dull though isn’t he? Clearly he’s relied on looks and talent his whole life and hasn’t needed much in the way of personality. Ok that’s harsh, he’s speaking in a second language and having to answer some seriously bland questions about “what made you choose Liverpool” and “hey, how about these fans eh?” etc. At least he didn’t need an interpreter for his interview so there is that.
He’s big mates with Haaland from their time together at Salzburg. Hate that, it’s bad enough we constantly have to see Van Dijk slurping De Bruyne without having another City player love in. Fuck that shit. They’re cheating you out of titles, Virgil, but you’re best mates with their star player?
Meanwhile, I see on Newsnow that Real Madrid are interested in one of our players. Ok, I’ll bite, let me click on it and report back…..
You’ll never fucking guess who it is. I’ll give you a clue. The ink isn’t even dry on the deal he just signed to join us. Yep, Madrid are keeping an eye on Szoboszlai. Fucking pricks. It’s not enough that they swooped in and took Bellingham off us after we’d done all the groundwork on the deal, but now they’re already eyeing up the lad we signed instead?
One Red defo off to Spain sooner rather than later is Elijah Gift, a talented winger from the Academy. He’s joining Bilbao. I’ve watched the u18s a fair bit and can honestly say I have no recollections of this kid at all. He’s either not played in the games I’ve watched or I just haven’t noticed him. He’s been here since he was 12 when we signed him from Huddersfield. He’s behind the likes of Harvey Blair in the pecking order though, and he’s not that good, so I don’t think he’ll be any great loss. Good luck to him though.
Fenerbahce and Galatasaray both want Thiago. Why the fuck would he go and play in Turkey? If he makes a move for money he can go to Saudi, which if it isn’t already a better quality of league than Turkey then it soon will be. Thiago should see out his final year here and then assess his options. That might not be the best thing for us, but from his point of view it definitely is.
Finally today, the unveiling video for Gerrard by his new Saudi club was grim. Terrible business.
