    Kuyt wants to stay

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has taken a swipe at Reds manager Kenny Dalglish. The 31-year-old Holland international also claims he is being forced out at Anfield after failing to secure a regular first-team place under Dalglish. Kuyt said: "Under this manager I don't have the feeling any more that he will put me in the side every week. "I'm under no illusion about playing every week. But I believe I am still good enough to play for Liverpool every week. "Deep in my heart I'd love to stay at Liverpool." Kuyt has been linked with Dutch club Feyenoord after holding talks with club officials, but finances are likely to rule that move out. "If I returned to Holland, I would have to take an 80% cut in my Liverpool wages," he said. I'm not really getting this 'story' player thinks he's still good enough, manager disagrees and player sees wages drop if he moves. Seems very unlike Dirk, has he thrown in the transfer request? I could see him playing for another prem team but I tend to agree I think his time is up here and in the main I think he's been great, gives 100% and has scored some important goals. I hope this is just media fluff.
  2. Now whilst Mierles is a good footballer and better than most of the squad I was wondering what he actually brings to the team. he is an excellent continuity player and obviously has great abillity but looking at all the games so far how many assists or how much impact has he had on our results to date? Take it a stage further and name your first 11 when everyone is fit mine i Reina Kelly Skrtel Kyriakos Carra Johnson Lucas Gerrard Cole Kuyt Torres Anyone who thinks Mierles and Gerrard can play in the centre needs to remember how we have been completely over run when they have teamed up there. So whilst he is a good player what is the point of Mierles?
  3. Most of us have opinions on Purslow, and the job he has done during his time here. Today he most certainly deserves a "well done" attitude along with Broughton and Ayre. But when NESV now buys the club, do you think they will keep Purslow, or replace him? For me the CEO is the most vital role at the club at this "fresh start". I don't think Purslow is the right man to take that role. Rumours are than NESV have their own man lined up, and it's an experienced brit. Have no names, but that gives room for some speculation. So, what do you think? Will he stay? Will he leave - and who will replace him if he leaves?
  4. Liverpool to stay clear of big-money signings in January transfer window Roy Hodgson will not target any marquee signings in the January transfer window as Liverpool's new owner, New England Sports Ventures, looks to put a stop to the profligate spending which it believes has hampered the club's progress in recent years. By Rory Smith Published: 7:00AM BST 27 Oct 2010 NESV is believed to have been concerned by the millions of pounds haemorrhaged on transfer fees and wages by the club in recent years as it examined Liverpool's finances as part of the due diligence process carried out before the £300 million purchase of the Anfield side was completed. Under Rafael Benítez, Liverpool spent more than £230 million in six years on fees alone – though much of that was recouped in sales – while the purchases of the likes of Raul Meireles, Christian Poulsen, Brad Jones and Paul Konchesky totalled £25 million in Hodgson's first summer at the club. Though NESV's takeover freed up £36 million a year of revenue that had previously been used to service Liverpool's £282 million debts to be reinvested into the club, and though its offer did make provision for an immediate injection of funds into the playing staff, the American consortium has made it clear it expects value for money, both from fees and salaries. "We have to be smart," John W Henry, NESV's principal backer, who will assume a place on Liverpool's board, said after the deal was completed. "We have to be more efficient. When we spend a dollar it has to be wisely. We cannot afford player contracts that do not make long-term sense. We have to be smart, bold, aggressive. It's a great challenge." Henry will take an active role in football matters at Anfield, assessing both Hodgson's suggested transfer targets and setting budgets for contract renegotiations of players already at the club. The 61 year-old has already expressed his concern at the wages earned by older players on long-term, high-value contracts. NESV's approach – applied with great success at the Boston Red Sox – is likely to rule Liverpool out of the glamour signings which many fans hoped would follow the eviction of previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Instead, the club's recent scouting activity suggests they intend to follow the Arsenal model – for which NESV has been keen to stress its admiration – or, perhaps more pertinently, institute on an informal basis the transfer policy employed at Manchester United, where premium fees are only paid for younger players with resale potential. "At the Boston Red Sox, we invested a lot in management and the scouting system," said NESV chairman Tom Werner. "We believe the foundation of any good sports club has to be the experience, valuation and understanding of scouting, so we will invest in that as well." Those players assessed by Hodgson and his scouting team in recent weeks include Steven Defour, the Standard Liège captain and a long-term target for the Liverpool manager. At 22, and around £12 million, Defour represents minimum risk for maximum reward. Likewise Ibrahim Afellay, the PSV Eindhoven winger Liverpool whom have assessed on several occasions. Already a Dutch international at 24 and heralded for several years as one of the brightest prospects in Europe, Afellay would fall within Liverpool's budget, while his wage demands would remain comparatively modest. More expensive would be Eden Hazard, Defour's Belgian international team-mate, currently with Lille. The 19 year-old has attracted interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and United, and could cost as much as £18 million. However, Liverpool believe they can tempt the player – who is likely to be advised by his agent to seek a move to a club where he will play regular first-team football – and Kenny Dalglish was watching when the French side played Levski Sofia in the Europa League last Thursday. Hodgson will not be allowed to add any players, though, without first trimming the squad. Liverpool boast the fourth-highest wage bill in the Premier League – standing at £107 million in 2009, according to football finance analysts Deloitte – but find themselves marooned in 18th place in the table, having finished seventh in Benítez's last campaign. NESV does not blame Hodgson for that poor performance so far this season, but rather interprets it as evidence that many of the squad do not warrant either their reputations or their earnings. Henry's experience as a futures trader, as well as his noted obsession with both sporting and financial statistics, put him in a perfect position to analyse such information. He is acutely aware that figures suggest that, with almost unerring accuracy, a club's league position is defined by their wage bill. That Liverpool's key statistics are so discordant suggests the money is not being spent wisely. He is also a devotee of Sabermetrics, the statistical analysis of the value of baseball players, pioneered by Bill James and which led Henry to appoint Theo Epstein as a general manager of the Boston Red Sox in 2002 at the age of 28. Epstein applied James's principles – which are designed to help poorer teams identify value-for-money acquisitions – to lead the franchise to two World Series with a squad largely composed of bargain purchases. Initial impressions of his time at Liverpool suggest he retains his faith in the method. Six deals that would not have happened under NESV regime Fernando Morientes The Spanish international, signed for £6.3 million as a 28 year-old in January 2005, failed miserably at Anfield, scoring just 12 goals in 61 appearances. NESV’s belief in signing young players would have precluded the deal. Robbie Keane Signed as a 28 year-old for £20.3 million in 2008, the Irish international would also have been judged by NESV to be too old to warrant such a premium fee. Alberto Aquilani Though the Italian international’s age (26) and pedigree would have still made him a legitimate target, concerns over his injury record would have ruled out a £17 million move for the Roma player, now on loan at Juventus. Jamie Carragher John W Henry may have been concerned by the sight of a 32 year-old being handed a lucrative two-year contract just before NESV completed its takeover. Maxi Rodríguez The Argentine international, age 29, came on a free transfer from Atlético Madrid boasting a fine pedigree, but his wages, believed to be around £70,000 a week until June 2013, may have discouraged NESV from such a long contract. Paul Konchesky A four-year contract for a 29 year-old – as well as a £5 million fee – does not match the profile of deal NESV believes can help Liverpool develop in the long-term. I personally quite like this approach and the 3 names highlighted in the article are exactly the sort of players I would like to see Liverpool invest in.
  5. 18 Liverpool 6 1 2 0 4 3 0 1 2 2 6 -3 6 19 Wolverhampton 7 1 1 1 4 4 0 1 3 3 8 -5 5 20 West Ham 7 1 1 2 4 7 0 1 2 1 7 -9 5 You have to go back to Souness days for such despair
  6. How do you think it compares to our Starting 11 if you swap Torres for Nog Cole & Torres V Rooney & Berbatov - LFC WIN Jovo & Kuyt V Valencia & Nani - UTD WIN Mascher & Gerrard V Scoles & Fletcher - LFC win HUGE BACK 4S - DRAW REINA v Van der Sar LFC WIN HODGSON v FERGUSON ferguson win HUGE So those saying we shouldnt be challenging for the title dont reckon Utd will be within 6 points of this seasons winners
  7. If this deal does go through just spare a thought for the poor old Evertonians who for the first time in there lives may have a reason to be bitter. For Everton read Espanyol the very poor neighbours of Barcelona. We will have a 100,000 state of the art best stadium in Europe with Hotels and other fantastic add ons to boot with the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Torres and Gerrard in our team. The sad reality is when they sing there is only one team in Liverpool they will be right. Poor old Evertonians
  8. On the basis Torres stays its like taking Candy from a baby. A stronger team and squad than 2 years ago, no CL distraction, no teams to fear, chelsea seem to have gone backwards Its the best chance since 1990 to be champions There is only one thing that can stop us being champions.
  9. Red Nick Insider sources can exclusively reveal that Fabio Capello will be anounced the next LFC manager after his private resignation to the FA this evening. Liverpool FC wasted no time once there captain broke the news to the club and imediately agreed a 4 year deal contract with the club. It an amazing turn of fortunes the favourite to be the next Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is likely to be appointed the next England manager after spurning LFCs overtures. 10. Yep thats me, well during the season i made a thread (unfortunately cant reboot it) called where would this team finish in the PL I cant remember it exactly but it was something like this. --------------------------Pepe------------------------ Carra---------------Sktrel------------Agger-------Aurellio---- ---------------------Lucas----------Plessis------------------ Benayoun-------------------Aqualani--------------Pacheo. ---------------------------Ngog----------------------------- Plus 60m to spend Sell Torres 70M Gerrard 30M Kuyt 10m Macherano 25m Babel 5m Reire 5M Johnson 15m You take 100m off the debt reduce the wage bill by 15m after signing new players and prepare for midtable medioctrity and keep reducing the debt until you find a buyer who will give you your profit. Anyway unless we find new owners this is quite a likely scernarion now.
  11. ------------------------------PEPE------------------- JOHNSON----------------CARRA------------AGGER------AURELLIO J.COLE--------------MASCHER-------GERRARD-----BENNY ----------------------AQUALANI------------------------------- ----------------------------------TORRES---------------------- Manager Lippi or Mouinho I am sure Mourinho would be more than happy to put his name to that team but might beg for decent left back cover-
  12. I dont think it is a good idea to post shoot or Kill owners on this forum because when they are shot dead which is only a matter of time you dont want to be extradited for incitment to murder Whilst I hate the americans and may have jokingly said that someone should shoot them I didnt mean it as God will take care ot them. Those who want them dead should just bite there tongue and rely on god to do his work.
  13. Sort your fucking Forum out its a fucking total disgrace. IMO its not only TT but the Rafa Bible bashers are far worse Ok ive had a drink but there is some serious annoying shit flying around and there is no need for it. You summed it up perfectly in you last fanzine that this close season will be decisive. I know moderation is way out of line but do we really have to have a nazi line here. FTR unlike most people if XAbi goes he goes but lets look to the future and not the past Love and hugs Nick
  14. Finally got some chillout time this afternoon and finally read the last Fanzine and reading the editors columna and then the TLW diary I couldnt help but finding myself agreeing 100% with Dave U who obviously has very similar views to me but is much more elequent in getting those views across and obviously the views were written just after our best two performances of the season. I wonder how Dave feels now because for me he was so close to the mark its unreal. The other pieces about Rafa especially whats going on in the forum were also very good especially the article written by Dan Thomas. You can respect and love Rafa for what he has done but also believe he will never win the title .On reflection I can see that my signature could be found to be offensive by people who see nothing wrong in Rafa so in the spirit of goodwill to all posters I have changed it. Also going through those great goals and thinking back we tend to lose sight of how good a game of football the 2001 UEFA cup final was. Dave also made a very good point and one I share in that our transfer business last summer had a very negative impact on our season and even though Rafa had been negative if we had two world class wingers we would have won games in spite of Rafa’s tactics. Anyway the manager has my full support going into next season as he should even though I remain to be convinced that we will ever win the title with him as manager but as I said after the West Ham game it is time to look forward, learn our lessons and hopefully do some decent transfer business and challenge again next season. For those going on to the Spurs game give Sami a hug for me.
  15. Now that Parry is leaving? Obviously the burning question is did Rafa have any imput into his sacking Im glad Parry is going and I think we will win the CL this season but never win the PL with Rafa in charge and would replace him. However I still think its a fair enough question to ask
  16. Or is there another reason I have to log in everytime I come on here at the moment? If we are given the dearth of good quality debate on the *f I would say it is a ship that has long since sailed and is currently around the cape of good hope.
  17. For what he has done for this club, the way he stood up to the owners but most importantly he has made us the best team in the PL in a one off game. We have crucified Chelsea and Manu this season. He has done great things for this club and I love him for that. However I also know that we will never win the league with him and I know if we are to win the league he will have to go even though he such a lovely man and done wonders for this club Just wondered how many of you felt the same way as me. For those of you who have followed my posts I have been of the opinion that we will beat both Chelsea and Manu and home and away but criminally after achieving such brilliance we will not win the league very much the patern of the 2002 season under Houllier. Yesteray summed it up perfectly for me his substitutions were so conservative and it was Scholari who actually made the posititve substitutions to try and win the game with 10 men as he knew a point was no good to either team in challenging for the title. Rafa got lucky but the end justifies the means. However as Stoke and West ham have proved luck evens itself over a course of the season and the table never lies. I really do love Rafa but If we want to win the league he will have to go, just wondered how many of you feel the same way.
  18. A very simple but serious question Who would you replace him with? And how realistic would such an such an appoint be of actually taking place? For me I dont want Rafa sacked, I am not against sacking Rafa but I cant see a realistic appointment that would improve the team. If you can give a reasonable alternative for replacing Rafa then please let us know, so in other words put up or shut up:
  19. I am using Spotify to reminisce some of the albums I copied in the 90s (to cassette), and I am trying to remember the name of following group: Nineties trio, from Ireland or Wales (I tihnk??) with a sort of grunge style (following on from Nirvana). Famous album is grey cover with a bloke bent over into a dustbin..(I think??) Anyone put me out of my misery please?
  20. You only need to browse on Youtube for a few minutes and you'll find a couple of cock blocks arguing over nothing. Seriously, it's on every video, whether it's a music video, a tv clip or a football clip. Someone will go, this is the best song evaaaa! Then some cheeseburger will go "uber gay" or something, and it goes off from there. Loads of racist ones as well. I'm generalising here but I think it demonstrates the way society is these days, or maybe how it's always been. People willing to conflict over trivial matters. Why do they do it? It gets on my tits. Can't we all just get along?
  21. Sorry just dont have the time to read through the alll the other threads so I`ll just make my several points on this one 1 Well played Hull for making it such a great game of football to watch. I actually enjoyed watching Liverpool play in the first half in a PL game only Manu and Chelsea and second half V Man City can I actually say I enjoyed watching lIverpool play in the PL this season. 2 I think MLB and Andy Gray might have a point in that Liverpool can win the title but maybe our manager is just too cautious a manager to win us the title. 3 Is Rafa just stubborn or is he losing the plot especially with his subsitutions. Can anyone on here justify the Lucas for Macher subsitution when we had to win the game. He made baffling substitutions against west ham but not bringing Keane on just stinks of being petty and not acting in the teams best interests 4 Saying that I cant think of a better manager than Rafa to move the team forward but we might just have to accept that we may never win the tilte with him but we will always be competitive and challenging for trophies whilst he is our manager. 5 Anyone can explain Rafa's remarks about the game being too open and then two sentences later he said Hull shut up shop and we couldnt break them down thats why were better away from home 6 The positive thing is we got a point that we might not have got with a different referee and we didnt lose any ground 7 The negative thing is we´ve spunked 6 points away in easy fixtures. Roll on the Gunners
  22. As a fan card holder and a 10+ year waiting lister for a season ticket i have to get tickets on my fan card when I can, so most league cup, fa cup and CL and some league games. The ticket information has just come out for the Preston game, a game I was really looking forward to and thought I could get a ticket. However, I've been to every single FA cup game since Portsmouth, the year, we won it and I cant get a ticket because it goes to ST holders. I understand that ST holders who have been to the away games get first priority over fan card holders with the same amount of games on their fan card but not St holders who only have last seasons home games. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Liverpool Football Club has received an allocation of 5099 stand tickets for this ALL ticket fixture priced as follows:- Adult £20.00 Over 60s £12.00 Young Adult (16-20) £12.00 Child (under 16) £5.00 Liverpool Football Club has also received an allocation of 14 Wheelchair and 14 Personal Assistant tickets priced at £12.00 per pair. Ticket Allocation Tickets will initially be available from Tuesday 16 December to Season Ticket Holders who purchased a ticket for the FA Cup 3rd round away match at Luton Town on 06.01.08. Following this sale tickets will then be available from Thursday 18 December to all remaining Season Ticket Holders who purchased a ticket for the Home FA Cup matches against Luton Town (15.01.08 ), Havant & Waterlooville (26.01.08 ) and Barnsley (16.02.08 ). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this is so unfair, I'm absolutely gutted and fuming with the ticket office as we do have 5099 tickets. Cant believe they have done this.
