  1. Well, hopefully this gives the team the kick up the arse they need to start playing with a bit of urgency and direction.
  2. Well someone's been taking finishing lessons off Sturridge!
  3. I'd never really cared about Southampton before, but I'm really beginning to resent their fans' and players' antics. I'll enjoy watching them crash out the cup and Lallana and Lovren celebrating in front of the home crowd.
  4. How that ball got through to Mane, I don't know. Two players tracking him and he just left them behind.
  5. MORENO! Cracking shot, always worth an effort from there!
  6. This ref is weak as anything - he keeps getting influenced by the home crowd. We should be surrounding him at every opportunity and trying to influence him our way. It's not pretty but if someone is going to get an unfair advantage, I'd rather it's us.
  7. The best way to buy a car is to have a stable of cars that you'd be willing to consider and choose whichever you'll get the best deal on; it sounds like you're thinking that way already. I bought my 3-series from a dealer in Southport for 40% off list price because it was 9 months old with 7k miles on the clock, but I would have considered an Audi, Volvo or Merc if the offers on those were better. I saved almost £20k on list price for what was basically a new car. Don't buy a new car if you're concerned about costs - get one that's been run by a dealer for a few months. You'll save a load of money and you'll have almost all of the advantages of a new car. Haggle hard - I got a full 3 years warranty and a 5 year service package thrown in along with the car as if it were new. Focuses and Astras depreciate like crazy. The Mazda will probably hold its value better if you're thinking about selling it in a few years and it'll be easier to maintain; parts may be pricier though, compared to Fords or Vauxhalls. A Leon's not a bad shout, but be wary of sports models - the suspension is rock hard and the ride will be uncomfortable on most road surfaces. If you don't like haggling, or you're not confident, Drive The Deal often get good reviews for supplying new cars and you'll get maybe 20-30% off the list price with them. There's also New Car Discount - my Dad bought a Hilux off them for about £10k off list, but don't expect much from them - service ain't great and there's mixed reviews about the cars they put out. My Dad's truck was fine though. If nothing else, New Car Discount will give you a target price to aim for. Bear in mind that any discount on a big purchase is huge - if you're spending £15k on a car and you can get an extra 1% off the price, you're saving £150, which is the cost of a fancy coffee every week for a year, or a weekend away for two. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that 1% must be a small number!
  8. We're becoming to look a bit like Arsenal in this game so far. We've had the injuries to key players so that they're unavailable and we have to play a young striker from the French league up front. We've felt a little bullied in midfield by some nothing-players because we employ central midfielders with the build of an imp. Now we're dominating possession and looking like scoring until we don't. I'll be happy if we don't go to penalties at this rate...
  9. Nice to see Ibe run with the ball there. He's at his best when he's travelling past players and doing so successfully is a real sign of confidence, which he's been lacking recently.
  10. Four players at the front post and the goalkeeper. None of them win the header. At the back post, three Southampton players against a lone Liverpool player. We really don't know how to play football!
  11. Our defending is consistently shocking. We give silly fouls away, our centrebacks get caught ball-watching and our full-backs can't stop crosses coming in. Klopp sadly has a lot of work to do to organise our defenders to play football properly.
  12. Skrtel and Sakho marking no-one as that cross came in. Lucky that Davis is a poor finisher.
  13. Mignolet is the only player in this team that has emerged with any credit in this game. Everyone else has been either poor or anonymous.
  14. More confident, decisive defending there. Watch it drop, let it bounce in the six yard box, watch it in bewilderment.
  15. If Lallana had played as badly as Coutinho has in this game, he'd be getting dog's abuse on here. I'm very much hopeful that posting this will cause him to score a worldie now, but I've my doubts.
  16. It's a good job Mignolet is awake, because no-one else is.
  17. The marking on that free kick was actually shocking. Like the defence have never played before!
  18. Hordes of people leaving before full time. Boos around the stadium at the whistle. Surely that teflon-coated, shiny-toothed charlatan has to go soon?
  19. I assume Touré was injured? Because otherwise taking a striker off at 1-1 and then swapping centrebacks is the sign of a man with no fucking idea what to do. He's just hoping at this point - may as well not have a manager for all the positive effects his influence is having.
  20. Unmarked, unchallenged from 10 yards. Fuck. All.
  21. I'm half-convinced that we let the players express themselves in training - i.e. just let them do whatever they want. That would explain the lack of defensive cohesion and all the stupid fancy flicks that go nowhere and the lack of fucking basics that win you games with ruthlessness. The team are crying out for a baddy coach in training who makes you drill, drill and drill again. A sergeant-major who screams at you for being a dick and doing an unnecessary back-heel. The kind of guy who hammers the basis into you whether you want him to or not.
  22. FC Sion are fucking awful. We should be beating this mob 5-0. They're lucky if they can string three passes together going forward and their defence is as porous as ours. Our team is a travesty - how much did this first eleven cost? £80m? £100m? I don't really believe that the players have become poor - the problem lies elsewhere. No coherent plan going forward, no coherent plan in defence. A midfield that doesn't know where the other players should be and players trying back heels, overhead kicks and worldies instead of managing the simple things of clearing the ball or putting it away from 10-15 yards. Ye gods, this is depressing.
  23. Fantastic chimp - that's awesome. I'll take a look at the Royale Chulan and see about moving hotel. Island hopping sounds good too - I've booked the Magellan on the strength of your recommendation also. North of the island it is!
