How the fuck is Deschamps making this squad struggle player for player even the players who haven’t made the squad this is the best at this tournament. Imagine an attack minded coach with this team, they’d be winning 4-1 almost every game.

I watched him quite closely when it became clear we was signing him from Burnley and nothing I ever saw then suggested he was going to be anything but back up and eventually back up to the back up, it’s a lot different scoring goals for Burnley than it is for a team like ours where teams defend deep. For us you have to either be lightening quick with clever movement, he has decent enough movement but wasn’t that quick or very skilful which he most certainly isn’t, our front three are so good because they have all them traits. It’s not particularly what he’s done here because like you say he didn’t have much of a chance but it’s more of what he’s done at previous clubs and his particular skillset, he offers little more than running around a lot and a decent finish now and again. I feel for him with his injuries because he genuinely seems like a good guy but in reality he should never have been signed because I just don’t think he’s good enough, he might go to a lower level club and score 15/20 goals there but that’ll be for a team that plays a completely different style of play and against a completely style of opposition.

Ings would have been as good as he was with or without the injuries, he’s just not good enough for a top team. In fact I’d say the injuries gave him a longer Liverpool career than he would have had had he not had the injuries.

In any interview I’ve ever seen him he’s got a beaming smile on his face no matter the situation but there he has the look about him that he’d rather be somewhere else and he doesn’t smile. I’m no body language expert either but even I can see from that video he doesn’t seem comfortable at all.

I can see why Firmino doesn’t start. He’s too flamboyant for this Brazil team and I really don’t feel like he’d have the confidence to be the way he is with us with Neymar on the pitch because Neymar would immediately turn around and sulk the insistence he tries an extravagant flick that doesn’t come off. The more I’ve been thinking the more I’m staring to think Belgium could end up winning this whole thing, it’ll be similar to when Wenger took over Arsenal and already had a solid back four that hardly conceded goals and he had the attacking football that benefited from the previous regimes defensive style of football so it blended two styles perfectly. On paper Belgium have the best defensive players at this tournament, Courtois Alderweireld Vertonghen Kompany Vermaelen Meunier with Dembele Witsel sitting in front of them is going to be extremely difficult to break down even with a moron like Martinez setting the defence up. If he can get the fluidity right up front and get Batshuayi Lukaku Mertens and Hazard firing they’ll win this. None of the teams so far have been that impressive.
