  1. I agree. I've been labour all my life but when the right start making more sense you have to wonder... The hypocrisy is the bit I'm having real difficulty with but it seems like others are happy to gloss it over. I mean if we want to talk slavery, wheres the modern movement to remove human trafficking, grooming gangs, forced labour and child slavery? And what about the biggest killer of black people in the United States? Oh that would be Black People. 90% in fact. Oh and what about the Black Cop who died the other week, Underwood, who died defending a building? Or the many ethnic business owners who lost their livelihoods through the riots? Not a fucking peep. And you know why? Because it doesn't further the goal or the agenda. In the States this is being weaponised by the left against the right for the ferocious desire to remove Trump, just like they've done with Covid. A political war thats as bad as I've ever seen it, the dislike by both groups is truly off the scale. And it stinks. Now i don't give a crap about Trump either way but it also shows that there is no real desire for change by the people who could do something about it. If Biden gets in he won't change a thing, just watch. Politicians really don't give a shit. To be honest the whole thing is a shitshow, no one wins, it just fractures communities more and more. The States does have a problem still, but I don't believe its the same over here at all. Its my kids and future generations i feel sorry for.
  2. Blazing Saddles? Do they still even sell the dvd?
  3. I don't doubt for one second it goes on. But for your example theres the opposite experience. In my example, theres been a lot of diversity across the companies I have worked for in the creative industry. Theres been much more of a balance of ethnic minorities in senior positions and i've worked with and under several extremely talented women in the design field. My current boss is a woman. The problems arise when its suddenly all or nothing, when the truth is somewhere in the middle.
  4. Stop talking sense! Everyone is a racist don't you know. You've put it much better than I. Its just not as simple as folks make it out. Theres multiple scenarios that create these situations, and you are right, a lot of immigrants will have come in with next to nothing and having to work their way upward which can be difficult FOR ANYONE. Thats not to say they don't encounter bigotry through their lives.
  5. You have no reason. Therefore our conversation is at an end.
  6. Socio economic problems are not just born from racism, they are multi faceted. They start with responsibility for your own actions. If a child doesn't study hard they don't get the grades unless you are suggestingthe teachers refusing to teach because of the childs skin colour? Again .gov doesn't say. We agree to disagree here.
  7. I've read through the list and the links off to the various facts and figures. These feels, mostly (not saying rascism doesn't play a part here) like social circumstances and not a race problem. A vicious circle of ethnic minorities from poor backgrounds being caught in the system. Even if you link to the .gov site it gives no detail around why these facts are the way they are. Why are the kids getting poor results at school compared to others? Is it pushing them into crime as a direct result? Does that result in more suspicion, arrests and more stop and searching? Does it result in lower paid jobs and unemployment? What about mothers dying in childbirth? Again it presents no details, it just says they are more likely to die. Is it their ethnic makeup? Is it lack of quality care on the NHS? Are they being frozen out? What is it? This just feels like an opportune time to post stuff 'as facts' but lacking in any of the real detail that could attest to it being linked to racism in some way.
  8. Learn more what? That you are guilty by association if you are white? Because thats what is happening here. Im not a racist, I'm sure you arnt and most of this forum is so why do we have to be shamed into feeling guilty? Again though, I've worked in some big corps in the last 20 years and I've not seen this systemic and institutional racism you talk about as the workforce has been quite diverse considering the demographic makeup. If you go back 100 or so years the world would be unrecognisable to what it is now. Fuck, the 80s is unrecognisable to now. Generations have got it wrong over the years in many areas, fixing one problem though just causes other problems. We are a corrupt being. You are wrong about the poor upbringing. It takes effort, guts and determination to work your way out of that situation, no matter what your skin colour is. You don't get these things handed to you on a plate.
  9. No because we live in a country that embraces, for the most part, multiculturalism. Remember that when you get your chippy tonight.
  10. This country is so racist it allows mosques and muslim communities to exist. Imagine that.
  11. You are wrong. Its discrimination. Its the Athletic saying we haven't found anyone BAME good enough to have a job at the Athletic before, so now its ok we can give someone one as a token gesture. If you can't get a job at a company due to your skin colour, don't try and get a job there. Its the same if a company deliberately wants a female for a role but interviews men anyway, my own company does this. Its not right but it goes on. Handing out token offerings does not constitute the fact that you are getting this on merit due to your skills and/or talent. What advantages have us 'whites' got by the way? The advantage of living and growing up in a poor Bootle background with parents out of work and no money? The hand me downs? My parents barely keeping a roof over our heads? Yeah very privileged. Its a crock of shit. "Journalism will be better representative of the populace if it reflects their demographics." In what way? Theres already far too many idealogical journalists as there is, not reporting on the facts and more interested in pushing narratives. Its been going on for years recently in entertainment and its fucked things up and made things worse, as people get sick of being lectured too and just end up turning off.
  12. We have and continue to do so. I've been branded everything associated with the stereotype, Ive had the finger pointed at me in the past simply because of my background, its part and parcel of life. I don't like it but You cannot change how people feel about others, its an illusion. Every culture has those who despise other cultures. What i don't understand here is the revisionism. Is this going to teach us? Will this make us better? No of course not, what it will do is divide things further though. I saw the Athletic, straight off the back of this political bomb, advertise opportunities for BAME applicants only. I mean is this helpful? Does this make it an achievement that those of a different skin colour have to be given special treatment in order to progress? Reverse racism is still racism. Stopping other of different skin colour (yes thats skin colour) whether you are hindu, white, asian from applying for a job is still discrimination. And what does that say about the Athletic? Where they inherently racist before this? Still no one gets it do they? Because most of the time people are thinking reactively rather than sensibly. I watched some of the George Floyd funeral. I would have had more respect for them had they done it in a quiet, private manner. But they made a spectacle of it, invited celebs and politicians and put it on TV, they made the man, who had a criminal history, a saint in the eyes of the world. Yes, no one should die the way he did and the police will be punished to the full extent of the law, but again, we are back to the bending of the truth to suit narratives. Meanwhile everyone ignores other people who lost their lives in this matter in the last few weeks. People like Keir Starmer do stuff like 'bend the knee' and post it on twitter. What is this pandering? This just gives those protesters the thumbs up they want. We've been lying to each other for so long through social media and the mass media about stuff we don't fully understand and about things that are inherent and can't be changed that we no longer know what the truth is. The whole thing is f**cked.
  13. :D basically health ids and cashless incoming. Although cashless was already gonna happen.
  14. Sorry how? Police knelt in front of protesters midweek. the government arnt stopping the protests nor are the police but they are advising to wear masks.
  15. how are they pulling in that info?
  16. Again its ridiculous. The royal only has one floor open for elderly who have had falls, alzheimer's etc, the rest is empty. Heres the foundations for whats really happening and why Covid will be the catalyst, enjoy the read, and in the next 10 years, our lives as we use to know it are soon to be over. 17. The hypocrisy is off the charts. When people protested lockdown they were vilified by the press, police etc for putting people at risk, yet with this, mass gatherings are being almost encouraged, police kneeling before protesters and the governments advice being, if you protest this weekend, wear a mask. Its fucking ridiculous.
  18. How do they know the rate of infection has gone up in the Northwest if theres no regular testing? My sister is a nurse in the Royal and still hasn't been tested.
  19. Beat me to it. Those, Anfield Wrap, The Echo lads, Pearce, Reddy, they all tow the party line, especially the glorified fan stuff. The Anfield Wrap don't get their klopp exclusive if they speak out against the Clubs decision making.
  20. I think he did to be fair. Then Brewster never got a look in.
  21. Its Jurgen who elevates the players mate. I couldn't see for example, Gerrard inspiring the likes of Gini, Robertson, Gomez etc the way he does. Theres something special about his personality that many managers lack. he's the reason we can buy relegated flops and turn them into winners. So yeah 90% on his shoulders. He's shaped the culture of the Club almost on his own.
  22. I think the point is, time and time again these scenarios happen under these owners, its been consistent. The only time it hasn't been consistent is with the sale of a massive asset. So even though, a few years back you could kind of understand us keeping our powder dry when we were in the commercial building phase and finishing 2-6, these days due to the ongoing success and commercial benefits we don't expect the same situation, but we are still getting it, excuse after excuse is offered, followed by the circling of the wagons with the LFC press, followed by tales of extended contracts. It would be nice, just once for us to push the boat out a little and build whilst we sit at the top of the tree. It might not last, and if its 90% due to Jurgen and his amazing man management skills, we won't have it for much longer.
  23. I agree. I think the plan next summer would have been Werner for one of the front three going out.
  24. I think we've been very fortunate. You only need to look at the keeper situation to see how quickly it can all go tits up without adequate cover.
