I just dont get it, you would think that after being shite for so long and watching man utd dominate at home and be in Europe every year that they would treasure these nights, want to revel in it and be rabid. All that said though English grounds have shite atmospheres in general in this comp compared to a lot of the European clubs, Chelsea shite, Arsenal shite. Only us and Man Utd seem to be able to generate a good atmosphere for these games.

Had the misfortune at last season's derby to sit behind some whopper in the main stand who had a camera as big as the hubble telescope who kept getting up to take photos, after about fifteen mins of this I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he worked for the echo, and if not to just stop jumping up every few seconds to take a pic and watch the game. He stopped but then spent the whole of half time taking pics. Oh and he had a half and half scarf on and a liverpool shirt complete with name and number on the back over his jacket. It is difficult, sit back and if you concede late but with some time left it is very difficult to then suddenly pick it up and get on the front foot. Keep pushing and you are suspect to the counter, but you may still be able to as seen against Ludogrets get something.

As I have never started a match thread here and we seem to have no luck at the moment as well as an attempt to try and forget today, I thought I would knock up a match thread for this game... I'd take a draw here myself, given our form - hopefully Sturridge will feature. Awkward game especially in light of our current form. It's a terrible start. If we are going to finish top 4 we need to go at a rate of 2 points a game minimum now for the rest of the season to get 71 and even that tally wouldn't have made it last year.

That Pelle at Southampton has hit the ground running - scored a load for Feyenoord last two years too, 50 in 57 league games. So frustrating to see a player signed for not a lot of money walk straight into the league and start doing the business, whilst our much more expensive buys toil.

That isn't going to help a team that is suffering to close out games and fir me is mentally scarred from last year. We needed to just win that and have no drama so badly, now we go to next game on a downer again - we are in a rut and at the mo we just can't get out of it.

You can see that we are improved today but it still looks like a team who are getting used to each other/trying to work out how to play together.
