  1. Ray Kennedy from the Keegan/Neal/Thompson years and better, by far, than two of them.
  2. Great round up, Dave. I think you managed to tick all the boxes this week! VAR is Shite (BIG tick) LFC are giving Baldiola sleepless nights (tick) Spurs are so-so for a UCL team (tick) Goalkeepers ignoring Vardy (tick) Newcastle are Shite - whilst not mentioning Bruce (tick) Norwich are good (tick) Sheffield Utd might be good (tick) Pogba is, well, Pogba (tick) Ole's at the wheel (ahem) Wolves will scare a few teams - maybe even Citeh But giving Everton's game a whole FIVE lines............................
  3. "It’s a bit much when old Baldiola weighs in talking absolute bollocks as well though. “We don’t get enough credit wah wah wah” “Kevin De Bruyne should have been player of the year but you gave it to Salah wah wah wah”. “We won five trophies wah wah wah”. How does he not get this? When you spend what they spend, it’s expected that you’ll win everything. It’s only a story when you don’t." But it was significant that Baldiola didn't mention $terling in his argument - who was actually the football writer's Player of the Year. As we all know that he didn't get that 100% for footballing reasons. Which is why UEFA didn't even mention him in passing.....
  4. Good report, Dave. Short and sweet and to the point - did you edit out the paragraph where you worked out how Norwich got in behind so many times? For me there wasn't one overriding reason, just individuals switching off at key moments and relying on someone else to cover/bale them out. Plus Pukki's movement was pretty good all night and Norwich shifted the ball pretty quickly at times - as you say something other teams don't even try to do against us, especially at Anfield. Another factor in the low-key final quarter was the wind getting stronger and we were kicking right into it. All-in-all a very good start with room for improvement, a well-earned 3 points. PS Did anyone else notice that the Kop forgot to sing YNWA at the end?
  5. In Chronological order: The Saint KK Terry Mac Carra
  6. Regarding Coutinho - has Dave been talking to Talksport? They seem certain that 4 clubs are interested now.
  7. I think that Hoever looked good again last night - if Jurgen thinks he's good enough he'll play him. Age won't be an issue - it wasn't with Trent.
  8. Neal's on the ballot under false pretenses - he never won the FA Cup.
  9. I'd have picked Ray Kennedy ahead of Terry Mac
  10. Another thing in Klopp's favour is that no one he wants is leaving/asking to leave - unlike Sane, Hazard, Trippier, Rose, Lukaku, Pogba (?)
  11. Klopp: Lallana can adapt to new midfield role - being healthy
  12. Maybe, but the squeeze from Matip on the other side prevented Son getting a good swing with his left foot.
  13. Was the .5 for the T-shirt against Barcelona at Anfield?
  14. If the report had just said "Big Game James - 8/10" I'd have accepted that. Milner is what he is, week in week out, whatever the opposition. As Dave says he's good enough and consistent enough to have got more than the odd game in any of our teams in the 60s, 70s or 80s. PS No mention of his witty incursions on social media!
  15. His (non) interview after the final where he was just so happy that he couldn't actually speak. The interviewer finally gave up and pulled Gini over!
  16. One assist beats 2 goals?? Are you playing your (CL) joker?
  17. Underwhelming would be my take on him. Too often seems to take an extra touch which either means an opportunity disappears or he loses the ball. His decision making has been questionable and that may well be down to the pace of some games. But, I believe he can and will do better - he'll have to to just get a game if everyone (including Lallana is fit).
  18. The other positive from Fabinho's excellent form has been Henderson having the freedom to get further forward which can mean that the press starts further up the field and Henderson has opportunities to run beyond the forwards (e.g. the first goal against Barca). I thought that Fabinho was MOM against Barcelona at Anfield and did as much as anyone to drag us through.
  19. Thinking back to January - LFC have just gone out of the FA Cup to Wolves. Lovren has just got injured; Gomez is long term injured; Matip's recovering from the Napoli injury - so it didn't look good for the defence. Matip, even when fit & playing, just seemed to be Mr Injury Prone. So, Matip comes in, stays fit, and hardly puts a foot wrong as LFC go unbeaten from there on in (ignoring the anomaly in Barcelona) and in some games he's the pick of the defence. So good that when Lovren & Gomez get fit, he keeps the shirt - definitely a 9 out of 10!! PS Big Bird was also the nickname of another Joel - the West Indian fast bowler from the 1980s, Joel Garner, all 6'8" of him!!
  20. You could also make the argument that a lot of the saves in the "great" category are usually as a result of who plays in front of the keeper - Smalling and Jones (for instance) are bound to give any keeper more chance to shine.
  21. Big Div just looks so cool when the ball goes in - so nonchalant - like knocking one in on the training ground!
  22. Great report, Dave. I must admit that Robbo was my player of the year (not named Mo) last season - but how do you overcome 40+ goals? Now 22 PL goals - that's easy-peasy! Robbo gets 10/10 for me!!
