@barcastuff barcastuff Jeffren is looking at offers. Bolton is not an option for him. He hopes the rumours about Liverpool can become more concrete. [rac1] 13 minutes ago via HootSuite

Downing to be our last signing this summer?
capablanca replied to alihill's topic in FF - Football Forum
Problem with GJ at LB is that it weakens us in that it lessens our attacking options on the right. Whilst he can fill-in at RB (and do a decent job) we lose so much from him there. If we can get Cissokho for < £10M then we wil be looking a hell of a lot more solid. I don't think Enrique wants to come here as he has said he wants CL. I think Cole will go and sadly Meireles, as we can get some cash for him and we are not exactly short of AMs. What about this Cattermole rumour? Its like a rash that wont go away.- 76 replies

Do you rate Stewart Downing? Yes or no?
capablanca replied to spider-neil's topic in FF - Football Forum
I would agree with you at the start of the process. However, as it progressed and I considered the qualities of Downing in greater depth, and the needs for the balance he will give us, I became convinced that Kenny would pay "over the odds" to get him. I totally agree with this strategy, bearing in mind what value he will add to the team. We were squeezed on the deal - due to a variety of factors (our desire for the guy, Villa's desire to keep him, McLeish's need to show Villa fans he has balls, Villa basically being the cunts they always are, etc.) - but overall I think we will get good value in the long term.- 216 replies

Bridge v Baines v Cissokho v Robinson v ?
capablanca replied to Gym Beglin's topic in FF - Football Forum
I wouldn't be surprised to see Cissokho come. Currently at a discount so could repay fee in future if he gets his head right.- 57 replies

The value of a player? Who knows. It ALWAYS depends... A loaf of bread is worth what? £1.00? If there are hundreds of loaves for sale and a few buyers then the price stays at that level - and may even drop towards evening, when the sellers fear they may be stuck with unsaleable goods. If there are many buyers and only very few loaves then the sellers can raise the price and the buyers will actually offer more to ensure they get the loaf. So there you go.

Do you rate Stewart Downing? Yes or no?
capablanca replied to spider-neil's topic in FF - Football Forum
While I largely agree with that, I think there is more to him than that. Lets face it, he's spent most of his career surrounded by average players and his performances are going to reflect that. Give him some decent movement around him and players with some guile and skill I think we'll have a different proposition.- 216 replies

capablanca replied to spider-neil's topic in FF - Football Forum
Yes. He's an intelligent footballer and is most def a team player. I think he'll contribute a lot to us for the next few seasons. Any doubters should really ask themselves why would KK & DC be willing to invest in someone they didn't think would improve our squad and contribute something. I'm not saying we should should blindly trust them, but ffs credit them with some judgement.- 216 replies

Yes, it extends to them all, the fancy daygo cunts with their tight jeans and hairless bodies. - Posted by Funnneeeee I'm not racist, have never displayed any racist tones or language, and never had anything to do with any racist or xenophobic group, nor do I agree with anything that remotely prohibits people of any race, religion, physical ability, age, or sex from participating in anything they want to do. But if you're going to get all spastic about it then I suppose it's not the sort of open, adult forum that I thought it was. - Posted by Funnneeeee Fucking comedy gold!

and it seems McLeish is mixing crack cocaine with his heroin because it is being reported that they now want £25M.

"Luka Modric ... will continue to resemble a small boy dressed up as a witch" is funny. Whilst I agree that Downing is a decent player, Nineteen million pounds? That just makes me weep.

Epic thread is epic. Please leave it alive - anyone can start following it from whenever they want. You don't need to read the whole thing. And you don't need to visit it all. And where else will Kenny learn what our best options are?

"We're getting Cissokho? We are? Definitely?" Hang on, it's a rumour from France Football. They aren't definitive. I'd love it to be true though.

From liverpoolfc.tv "Liverpool Football Club today announced they have reached agreement with Blackpool for the transfer of Charlie Adam. The player will now travel to Merseyside for a medical and to discuss personal terms."

Dan Roan (BBC Sport) tweeted this 2 minutes ago: "Downing is minded to join Liverpool - but having lost Young to Utd I understand Villa have decided he is not for sale" I hope that's correct and we move on to Mata.

Sounds plausible. Hope so, but I did get a bit of a cold shiver when it was announced he wasn't going to China and started thinking the worst.

From Y!Sports: Milan Jovanovic has revealed that Liverpool have told him to find a new club. The Serbia international arrived on Merseyside on a free transfer last summer following a successful four-year stint at Standard Liege. The 30-year-old joined the Reds during Rafael Benitez's reign, but the Spaniard left before he had played a match under him. There has been speculation that Greek club Olympiakos may be interested in signing the winger, who failed to impress under both Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish last season. "I got the paper from Liverpool that I am free to search for a new club," Jovanovic told the Greek media. "Up to now, I still haven't received an official offer from Olympiakos, but I am looking forward to hearing their plans."

What will constitute success this season?
capablanca replied to JohnnyH's topic in FF - Football Forum
Hmm, very interesting comments. I completely agree that Arsenal are to be admired and indeed emulated. I confess that I am jealous of what they have done since Wenger arrived. And whether or not top 4 ought to be considered successful, anything less is deffo a failure. -
erm.. you did mean a Norwegian paper, didn't you?
