It makes me smile when one of them chips in with an insult and then one of the others posts a ahahahahah type response. I don't know how old any of them are but I suspect none of them are over 23-24? They are still maturing but are obviously still too afraid to leave the flock. Bless

3k is an amount of pay off that I have known to be given. In fairness I'd give him nothing. He is married with two kids in their late teens. I fail to see how I am a twat for doing my job properly and trying to make sure my team do theirs properly as well. After all it's public money that is paying our wages. I am not responsible for how he chooses to do his job. I am responsible for making sure he does it to an acceptable standard. If he can't be bothered to do that for the sake of his family then he only has himself to blame for the consequences that follow. Furthermore if you could be bothered reading my post properly you would have read that he has been like this for years and has never been challenged over his attitude. I haven't been here 6 months yet!

An interesting post and I agree with some of your points, however this person is not a down trodden drone who has had his career expectations and dreams dashed on the beauracracy of a badly organised and distant organisational/management structure. First and foremost he is on £34k per year and secondly he is a professional person (or is supposed to be) He has choices that he can make that others may not have. If he dislikes his lot or is embittered by the organisation then he can move jobs. Easier for a qualified planner to do so than admin support staff. He chose to do nothing but sit in his comfort zone, take the Money which I get the feeling, he thinks he is entitled to, rather than he has to earn. The other people in my team have had to put up with him for years, they are not arse kissers, they don't need to be they are motivated by their professionalism and the desire for the team to do a good job. I think the biggest failure has been the lack of willingness by the last team leader to confront this person, as has been previously said it is hard to get a local authority employee sacked, however, I will give him a chance to improve, if he fails I will attempt to have him removed. I liked the ironic comment at the end btw.!

You have proved yourself to be an abusive and obnoxious little man. Why would I care what you or anybody else like you thinks of my posts on this site? As far as I am aware I don't insult, bully or threaten anybody on here. As I have previously stated if you don't like me or my posts you can very somply choose to ignore them by going to the options menu and selecting it. If you don't do this then it is quite obvious that you are getting some sort of kick out of reading my posts or by trying (and utterly failing) to wind me up. We will then know by your actions which it is.

I couldn't agree more. You are also correct about the sacking situation. It is not a simple situation to resolve. Trying to motivate somebody who is an arse is almost impossible. He does the bare minimum and isn't a team player, however he doesn't do anything that, under hr policy would result in a sacking. If I worked in the private sector I would just get rid of him and take a chance on him going for unfair dismissal, probably the best 3k I could spend. As for not doing my job properly I disagree. I have worked here since September, he has been in this job for 18 years. He doesn't like the fact that I am a woman who is younger, better educated and has achieved more in the 5 years that I have been in planning than he has in his whole career. This is the first opportunity I have had in setting objectives and reviewing his performance via the appraisal process. The next 12 months will be very interesting ;-) As for silver linings comments, well I'm not boasting but I think my academic achievements probably outstrip yours!

Is very challenging. Gave an appraisal to one bloke yesterday, he is a poor performer, has problems meeting targets and deadlines yet first thing out if his mouth was how everything is "shit", management are rubbish, the service is rubbish etc. He is the most negative person I have ever met. Of course he completely disagrees with anything that suggests he could improve his own performance. When people talk of council workers being made redundant I look at him and think dead man walking.

My ex. Had the same problem. He never cleaned it up either! I think it's just one of those things that happens to men with small dicks. They aren't long enough to dangle past the edge of the toilet and thats why it happens. And yes my member is massive blah blah

I work about 50 hours a week, so I suppose i work hard. I only get paid for 37 hours though, but I earn a good salary so I'm not too bothered. And just to prove how hard I work, I'm in the final stages of writing a committee report at 2.20 in the morning. ;-)
