To be fair I have never heard anyone ever say, "the pubs didnt close during the blitz...."etc. To me, and i imagine most people, VE day is about celebrating the end of a war and remembering those that suffered and sacrificed and fuck all to do with the EU, coronavirus or glorifying victory.
