  1. Carra is still our best centre half by a fair distance. Personally I'd pick Agger alongside when fit as they complement each other perfectly. I wasn't too keen on Skrtel at first as there were too many rash tackles for my liking, but I thought he matured a fair bit towards the end of last season, so any time he is in the team for either Carra or Agger is fine by me. The Greek is useful, certainly against the likes of a Stoke or a Bolton where you know at least part of the match is an ariel battle. I like Kelly a lot, looks very good at right back but not really seen anything of him an centre to say if he's good emough or not. I'd like to see that this year, early cup rounds if possible. Having said all that I'd sign one as: a.) Carragher getting on and may need a breather at some point. b.) Agger will probably be injured for a while. c.) The Greek isn't good enough when playing against decent strikers with a bit of movement. Also, how pointless is 'not bothered' as a choice? If you're not bothered, why vote at all?
  2. It's far too epic, that's my point. I think that most people want to discuss the issues but they jump from one to the next so quickly and with so many little asides in there that it's hard to follow. And that's the point I'm trying to make, that the people who read this forum want to follow points about specific issues without going through everything else on the thread. I know I don't need to look at it, but the points people talk about on there are of interest and so should be easier to find. Like I said originally, I was bound to get shot down, just saying what I think.
  3. Multiply the replies thus far by about 1400 and you've got the Summer Thread encapsulated. 1 comment, followed by 1 direct dig, followed by 3 or 4 jokes, followed by a rumour. My point is proved.
  4. I understand that forums are just that, a chance for people to air their views. But having had over 1.2 million views with less than 1% of them posting, has the goliath 'Summer Thread' run it's course? I doubt anyone is now able to follow the issues raised on there and I think the best thing would be for it to be closed. I'm not saying that those people have no right to post obviously, but I think there are conversations on there about every member of the squad, the staff, the stadium, the academy, formations, signings, sales, favourite cheeses to go with a nice red etc etc. I think it's preferential to have seperate threads about each topic so that people interested in particulars can read and contribute without having to trawl through pages of "Well your ma's fat", "Well your ma's fatter" to find what they want. Just a thought. No doubt I'll be shot down. Don't know Dave U at all, but any chance?
  5. Another thing about transfers (and not just ours) is that it's not purely based on how good a player is, if that was the case, you'd see every club in the world who had the money going after the best player in every position ie Messi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Tevez, Neymar, etc etc etc. As well as this, you've got to consider other things when you sign players. Off the top of my head - wages, personality, nationality, suitability to Premier League football, language, family situations that may effect things down the line, balance of team, formation you want to play, balance of squad, injury history, media image, and probably 20 others issues that don't even come to mind! You consider all of these things, giving each one it's proper weight, and then make a choice. Like I said before, you build a team and a squad before anything else. I believe we'll sign at least 3 more players, and it wouldn't surprise or bother me one bit if non of them were 'marque' (a farce of a description anyway, Liverpool FC is marque, players are just players) but I'd bet all the tea in China that each one will make a positive contribution to us next season and beyond. Couldn't be more excited about 2011-2012. If we get things right early on, I honestly believe we could be pushing at the top end well into the new year.
  6. I think what our transfers come down to is very simple, do you trust the manager? I personally do, and I would imagine most people feel the same. Kenny has built good teams before, two of which won titles. Maybe the signings are not what some people would like, but I believe you win things by building teams and squads, not buying superstar players who you then have to keep happy all the time. I can't imagine Adam or Henderson kicking off if they're not in the team every week. But at the same time, when they are on the pitch, I expect they'll help produce good team performances. You've got to trust the manager, as soon as doubt creeps in, it's over, as we've seen with our last 3. I couldn't be more upbeat about next season, and I think other signings, whoever they are, will add to what is turning into a pretty good squad. Start the season well and you never know where the confidence we build could take us.
  7. Rafa? (:whistle::whistle::whistle:Walks away)
  8. 1. I'd like the weeds in my garden to die. 2. I'd like people to stop putting 'Happy Birthday' posters for insignificant birthdays (anything other than 10, 13, 18, 21 and 40 is insignificant in my book) all over roundabouts in the local area. 3. I'd like Brian Blessed to be give his own TV show, on anything really, he's fucking hilarious. 4. I'd like 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip' to be given another series, it was just beginning to get interesting. 5. I'd like someone to cut my grass, clean my car and put my bins out on a weekly basis.
  9. I recently got an new Xbox 360 and Kinect in a deal for a new phone (from the Carphone Warehouse if anyone is interested). It's only got a 4GB memory and we're buying an external hard drive. Here are a few questions I could do with an answer for: 1. Do we need a microsoft Xbox hard drive or will any hard drive do? 2. Is Xbox live worth it? 3. Is it worth buying wireless controllers? 4. Is it worth buying the headset with the microphone? 5. What is the Kinect thing like? I really need an answer for question 1. Thanks.
