1. he's really got them moving their arses... some of the players are just a blur.
2. I'm delighted this whole episode is over and really happy to have King Kenny back. I can't really thank Roy for the job he did because it was so poor. I can sympathise a little with the fact that he probably didn't realise he wasn't up to it and had genuine hopes of making it work and obviously we all wish it had gone a lot better as it's been a painful few months for all concerned. I can thank him for going by mutual consent, if true, and I don't hold any grudge. I wish him all the best as someone elses problem.
3. Sure. This is what I just sent in a PM to goatboy59 so I'll just post it here too. I work in Wills and Estates. A very junior job but wills are often contested and some of the donkey work I get involved with, that is a little more interesting than most of the deadly boring stuff I do, is that I get to see affidavits of statements the deceased is supposed to have made and other documents relatives claim to have and to find, and I take them to various experts for analysis. There are ways of writing that people who write a lot in their day to day lives, be they in professions that require it or internet warriors etc, have and patterns you observe in people who write much less frequently. There are indicators in the way people write as to age, there are signs, not full proof, as to education level. These posts have been written as if the writer is in a debate. Many of the sentences are structured not to tell a story but to make a case. The use of structures like he (torres) are not standard written form, this is possibly either someone who is a university graduate and has written many essays or it is someone like myself with some exposure to the legal profession for example. This would be an even longer post if I go through every example, so I suggest you just have a look at the post yourself, you will make up your own mind anyway. I’m not making a comment about chauffeurs as working people or trying to insinuate they are any less intelligent than anyone else. I meant the choice of words and structure is not in keeping with someone who drives for a living and has decided to put all of this out there as a one off. The writing is that of someone who is a fluent writer and used to arguing and making a case in the written rather than spoken form. Imho. When I said the posts were by someone intelligent I can see it read as if I was saying that was why it couldn’t be a chauffeur – sorry that was not my intention. I meant that the person was intelligent only in that they had been quite clever in mixing known facts, rumoured facts, with new info. If you simply put out new info and claim to be connected to the club people will be much more questioning and doubtful. The person behind this has been cunning enough to realise the right mix of the known, the discussed and the new – creates much greater plausibility. Smart. Anyway as I said, it’s my opinion for what it’s worth. Undoubtedly those who want it to be 'gospel' will treat it as such but I'm 100% unconvinced.
4. Are you referring to what I said about the sentence structure? If you are I'll explain what I mean. If not never mind.
5. FWIW I am 100% certain this is made up and made up by someone quite intelligent too. The vocab and sentence structure is completely out of keeping with a chauffeur. Some sentences remind me of transcripts of certain kinds of evidence when they are given in court. The use of well known pre-existing gossip, and some facts, gives credence to the 'new information' that has been added to support a particular agenda. The final and ultimate give away that this is 'bollocks' is how neat and tidy it is how it fits a certain agenda with not one single incident of a contradicting story. Life is not like that. People are not like that. When true stories come out they are messy and confusing and leave you with several "yeah but why did... cos I don't really get" questions.
6. So you are saying the only difference in his performance between the last two matches was a pass or two and specifically the one from Stevie? Fair enough. That isn't the way I saw it. I give him much more credit than that for improving the shift he put in.
7. I can credit Roy with how incredibly happy he will make me when he goes. I'll have a few bevvies, a nice pie and chips and do some really bad dancing! Good times.
8. The OP never said Torres had lost it. In fact I didn't see that suggested - quite the opposite - that he did still have it and needed to pull finger and put in a shift. You would have to say that between last Wednesday and Saturday there was quite a change in performance although the same tactically inept incompetent remains as manager. Perhaps Fernando read this thread and did indeed decide to have a word within himself - Robert De Niro style?
9. Well if they ever start giving out 3 points for best trick with a golf ball we'll be well fucking in
10. Gerrard Meireles John W Henry (excellent spectating - hope he saw enough to know how much shit we are in)
11. Good post that. Saves me typing the same sentiments out. Gerrard is on good form this season. It's not often that the player who creates the most goal scoring chances and the player who wins the most tackles are one and the same but for us they are because it's Gerrard. He's trying his guts out. His form is fine. I feel fucking sorry for him actually.
12. isn't it the middle of the night in Texas? The court case is at 7am so it must be a bit before 5am there now? how can the TRO be lifted in the middle of the night - not saying it hasn't been - i don't know - just seems odd is all...
13. It's a shame it was left in because of the way it's been taken - and so it detracts attention away from the more important message. However, that said I have some sympathy for McCulloch because one of the definitions of rape is - an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: example of use 'the rape of the countryside'. He says the club is family to him so therefore he is extending from that to say it is like the rape of his family - he means the club is being raped. The club is not an individual he is not referencing sexual assault but that has been the widespread interpretation - so what he meant and how it was taken are two different things. Should have ended up on the floor during editing, no doubt.
14. +1 Just wanna chip in and say that although I have neither the patience or the inclination to argue with the tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists and the "a sandwich or two short of a picnic" element myself... I do appreciate you fighting the good fight goatboy59. Especially as (quite tragically) you seem to be just about out-numbered but y'know it is a full moon at present... if I could rep you I would.
15. Please don't do this. Just remember, serial murderers, everyone, the scum of the earth - have to have representation if there is a legal matter to be argued. It is a process, for the legal system to work there must be lawyers on both sides, it does not mean the lawyer is sympathetic to the client, but it is process, it has to happen. If this lawyer drops Hicks he will get an extension from the court to find another lawyer etc. There are times and ways to constructively protest but in this instance it would be counter-productive to our own interests. Don't do anything to potentially delay this. Please.
16. This thread is an embarrassment. Here's the goal and celebration Gerrards celebration from the point where the ball hit the net to the point where he begins running back towards the half-way lasted under 9 seconds. I realise this is incredibly excessive and of course lets prioritise bringing in a rule at the club where knee slides are reserved to semi-finals and finals only... because that's important stuff right there. I would like to see us legislate how players expresss, joy, passion, relief as a matter of urgency they must not be allowed to care or feel too much. Gerrard always runs to that corner when he scores at that end because his Dad and his brother have their seats a few rows up in that corner. He has been doing this for years and years at home games. He celebrates his goals by saying "yes!" and giving a nod too his old man. Gerrard did not brush Torres off and alters course by maybe a foot but you are making a mountain out of a molehill suggesting it was some big thing. Gerrard did not have a big celebration and celebrated with no team-mates really and I doubt this means he is angry at the whole team and they are all off.
