  1. the cost of living in real terms only reduces if you get a position paying equal or above your current wage, and your only commuting the same distance. Also factor in that main commodities such as food and petrol may be substantially more expensive if you are relocating to a rural area by the way an old chinese philosopher once said "lady with 2 horses has man with small dick"
  2. i'm guessing that your place in a big city like bristol has shops factories hospitals universities etc all in a commutable distance whereas your abode in devon may be a bit more isolated with far less industry and commercialism therefore less demand
  3. another thing to consider that with your own property there is always potential to modernise/improve add value. eg if you can only afford a terraced house look for an end terrace with potential to extend, buy a house in a road where the other houses have already been extended so planning permission will be easier to attain, buy a bungalow with large footprint you can extend up to 10-15% without planning permission
  4. brownie i have never rented but i am guessing a 130k house would cost about 500-600 per month to rent. 600 per month is 7200 per year, if you live for another 50 years that would cost you a MINIMUM of 360k in rent but you can at least double that with inflation - i reckon you would shell out between 500k and 750k in rent you buy a house for 130 you will pay back around 250k -- then its FUCKING YOURS !!!! sell it, rent it, whatever. no one in there right mind would advocate renting over buying ....... if you can afford it
  5. i have just used that as a rough guide from properties i can recall from 25 years ago - they have gone up well over 10 fold. there is also the potential for property booms in the next 25 years. for example i bought a property 7 years ago for 70k that is now worth 210k -- you do the math its my belief that now is a good time to buy. lets say your mortgage is 1k a month, but in the future you can afford to pay over that amount you would be amazed at how much you can reduce you repayment term over by increasing your payments by moderate amounts.
  6. 100k in 25 years time will be worth nothing mate. your 130k house that you pay 75k interest on will be worth at least £1m in 25 years time. my advice to you is get a mortgage, as much as you can afford in the BEST area. the worst house in the best area will always return more than the best house in the worst area. when you reach 65 or so you can then downsize or even consider renting knowing the huge profit will pay your rent plus some for the remainder of your life prices in liverpool and surrounding are very reasonable at the minute and will start rising pretty soon, now is a great time to buy
  7. 12 cans of special brew and you will find your commute flies over
  8. anyone heard from nic in the last 6 years ?
  9. shit! looks like i have been rumbled come on lad, really ? this thread is all about rumour and conjecture, i am just stating what i have been told, like the rest of you i am hoping its bollox. i have no agenda, i come in peace. i hope at the start of the season i get a load of abuse for being wrong, but i have gambled my own money that rafa will be here at the start of the season and steven wont.
  10. I dont think anyone thinks he is our biggest worry. i think most of us are concerned that with the likes of reina, johnson, carra, agger, gerrard, mascherano and torres at his disposal plus another batch of expensive purchases like aqualani, kuyt, babel, bennyhill, skrtl, etc he could only finish 7th
  11. No if you look again there is £10m difference there - or a lucas, kyriakos and ngog of difference in old money
  12. apologies for not being able to back this up with a link or a quote. i understand there is nothing worst than getting half a story. The information is not from a journalist or any media, so unfortunately no links or quotes. I will tell you what i have been led to believe, its not gospel its what i have been told from someone within the game. Gerrard to city is 80% certain - i dont know where the 20% doubt comes from it may all be bollox, i am only letting you know i have heard. Hopefully its bollox
  13. i'm amazed anyone would want him to leave. if the money could be used who would/could you buy to replace him ?
  14. gerrard - city - £30m £8m per year plus image rights (allegedly)
  15. thats a quality response fella. made me laugh anyway
  16. the less that go the better for me. rest and recuperation for next season which will be one of the biggest in our history
  17. i was thinking defenders, as keepers aren't usually included in formations. You may have hit on something here though, 8 keepers may improve our fragility at set pieces. but then we would only have 3 players for the zonal marking
