That formation doesn't inspire me that we'll turn draws into wins. For me Silva is a much more important signing than Tevez. Silva is the icing on the cake whereas Tevez is the optional cherry on the top.

Yeah it seems that either him or Pranjic will come in if Silva doesn't. Fortunately I'm fairly confident Silva will join.

£18m for Xabi is shocking. That's what Barry was valued at last summer and lassana diarra was sold for £19m so we should hold out for at least £20-22m if not more.

There is no point in trying to force a quick-fire sale unless we know there is a suitable custodian out there with the finances at the ready to buy the club and a long term plan. Otherwise we could potentially end up in a similar situation to what we're in now with idiots for owners.

Tevez is a fantastic player but I'm not sure he'd be the best option this summer. He's world class in the Gerrard role but I think he'd be pretty average out wide and doesn't score enough goals to be a decent lone striker. Could create more problems than he solves.

NOTW also reporting that we are interested in Javi Martinez. Last Wednesday Spanish tv were reporting that our scouts were at the Barca - Bilbao cup final so the link makes sense. We've also been linked with him before. If we did lose Alonso for big bucks I would be quite happy spending the money on Barry and Martinez. I think Martinez could actually be better suited to the PL than Alonso and could potentially become a better player than Xabi within the next 2 years.

Vagner Love? Can lead the line or play in behind Torres. Yours for about £18m. A lot of money but he's quality, versatile and a proven goalscorer. Otherwise Lavezzi if he can play up front on his own.

Their chairman Bruce Buck recently said that they're going to try and fund purchases with sales. I guess there may be one big signing but generally they won't be going over board. Their net spending over the last two seasons has been modest and less than several clubs and that was before Roman lost millions in the recession. Really don't think we'll have to worry about them next season.

Good couple of games tonight. If we fail to sign Johnson then Srna would be a great option at right back and likewise if Silva doesn't come then Mesut Ozil would be a great alternative. Think he's going to be a top, top player within a few years.
