  1. Virtually all of that money comes from match day revenues, your sums are amazingly naive.
  2. Ayres is Hicks' gimp so I think he is close to Rafa also.
  3. Rather Parry than Ayres but then Ayres isn't getting in any time soon with Gillett here. I don't think Parry can be replaced without giving him 2 years notice? If that's true then he is here so long as Gillett is here.
  4. Football isn't played on a chess board or on paper - its played on the pitch. There are too many variables to able to plan things like that. Remember under GH's days he used to play as many English players as he could in the Everton and United games? Thats because he knew he could get that little bit extra from players who had more understanding of what these games meant to the fans. How would you factor that successful strategy into the computer?
  5. I somehow can't the managers of Real Madrid and Barcelona having any say on the youth academies. I doubt they even get a say on who the club buys!
  6. I want Rafa to get a new contract and to be able to buy whoever he wants so long as it makes sense financially and the player in question won't disgrace us e.g. Joe Barton. But he has to have a boss, someone he is answerable to otherwise it doesn't work. What I find disappointing is Rafa choosing to go to the Echo with his "rejecting contract" story. Its as if Rafa knows the fans hate Parry and the owners so he is trying to ignite the flames in readiness of the Derby. I find the politics of it all from a Liverpool manager quite sad. Publically rejecting a contract would be the last straw for many owners but such is the approval rating of those above Rafa, he feels he can get away with anything and that's not right.
  7. Thats a fantastic post there mate, you are correct. People don't know or don't care about the roles and structure of a club their answers are biased towards how they feel about the manager. Agree a million percent about the roles you have there too.
  8. This is not entirely true though is it? How much did Adebayor and Van Persie cost? For every £20m+ Drogba, Torres, and Rooney there are gems out there that can be had for must cheaper fees.
  9. Clearly thats the issue isn't? It's Parry and nothing to do with Rafa wanting control, he wants Parry out simple as that and I don't blame him. The point here though is that the Director of the Academy wasn't appointed by Wenger but by the club.
  10. Are you saying that the team manager should appoint the Director of the Academy? That doesn't happen at any other club. You only have to look at the best youth academy in the world at Barcelona to see how it works. On football mondial a few months back their academy directors were saying that they work independently using the Barcelona "philosophy" so it can work both ways. Wenger didn't appoint Liam Brady did he?
  11. The Guardian (paper version) are reporting as an exclusive that Rafa's agent has let Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City know that his position isn't clear and he is willing to "listen". Bloody hell, we need to sort this out quick or we may lose him like Valencia did a few years back. It begs the question, how much academy and transfer policy responsibilty will he get at those clubs?
  12. He is a small club player, as soon as he sets foot inside WHT he will instantly turn back to the Liverpool Bellamy - fustrated and inept.
  13. Rafa already has much of the say on players, I think he wants more on the logistics of it all especially around the financing and doesn't want his plans blocked ala Barry/Alonso. That is normal in contract negotiations but its disappointing its being played in the media 2 days before a big Derby game. This is the downside of doing contracts mid-season. I feel Rafa has been unlucky in that he has to work with someone as inept as Parry and that's driven him to do this. The best solution is to bring in someone he can work with but then that may look like he has full control of the club and to someone like Gillett that might be too much to stomach.
  14. Given the owners of Man City are Arab's and there are millions under threat of death and with no food in Gaza, I think it's fucked up too.
  15. Here? Maybe I read it wrong? Or did you mean the signing of Torres? I just think its all scare mongering and we all need to calm down. I hope Rafa accepts his contract as it is and in the long term we get a decent boss for him.
  16. You agreed with somebody else who said it I don't remember his name but it was in the middle of our debate. I am not having a go mate but there is a risk that we will all lose our objectivity in all this.
  17. You mentioned earlier that Torres would leave if Rafa left and I said we must all stop speculating. After the interview above where he says he would stay even if Rafa leaves, do you understand why its silly speculate?
  18. You have to love Fernando. FERNANDO TORRES TALKS TO MARTIN SAMUEL: Liverpool's Spain superstar on Kaka, feeling at home and the battle to stop Manchester United's title chase | Mail Online
  19. But didn't he just say that he would stay if Rafa left? Are you not wanting to read the above quotes? I am confused by your postings. The "if he goes" quotes aren't in your last post either.
  20. I think the "If he (Rafa) goes" quotes must be new as I haven't seen those quotes before anywhere,.
  21. I don'tee anything wrong with what Rafa is saying here, he even alludes to being open to having a "Technical Director". He just doesn't trust Rick Parry which isn't surprising.
  22. Maybe he feels its better than Gillett owning any of it as he and Parry have disrupted the club these past 2 years?
  23. If that's true then it's a kick in the teeth for SoS who exist to get rid of Hicks and his mate. But I very much doubt Rafa wants that, I think he is co-existing with Hicks in order to be able to do his job and to stay here long term. Nothing wrong with looking after yourself in my opinion.
