  1. They were a lot better on the day in the 2009 1-4, weren't they?
  2. Need to target Rafael now. A bit of savvy and he'll be gone soon.
  3. Do you remember how many times - particularly in the 90s - we had the opportunity to pull ourselves back into the title race / put a spanner in their works during the latter part of the season? And how, more often than not, our attempts at doing so were dashed by a superior side paying no mind to rivalries, just the chance of another title? That's what we need to do tomorrow; treat it like any other match.
  4. That confirms Fulham's relegation. There's no way back for them now.
  5. Even though he's obviously out of his depth, I bet Solskjaer will continue to find top flight employment after spending one out of every three years looking moderately impressive at a lower level.
  6. I enjoyed this from the BBC's report of Arsenal - Bayern Munich: http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26250322 "Manchester United manager David Moyes was an interested spectator and it is likely Bayern's Kroos was the object of his attentions after being linked with a move to Old Trafford. On this evidence, however, Kroos is a player of such pedigree that he belongs in the Champions League, somewhere United are increasingly unlikely to be next season. It is also hard to see such a talent being allowed to escape by Bayern." Some things never get old; "Manchester United manager David Moyes" and the hilarity perpetuated by his tenure are truly evergreen.
  7. Pellegrini's post-match meltdown was remarkable in its unhinged tinfoil hat paranoia. I wouldn't be surprised to see City slip away into irrelevance for the remainder of the season after that.
  8. The match is but a hurdle to be cleared en route to Mourinho's opinion of it.
  9. Why is Mourinho's every comment deemed worthy of a main headline on sporting websites? Is it that his opinion on Man City vs Barcelona is critical to the integrity of world sport or that his shit is particularly flavoursome?
  10. He's the most powerful person in English football now. That's an irrefutable fact.
  11. Solskjaer looks as adept a manager as I've come to expect one of Ferguson's acolytes to.
  12. I'm thinking melancholy alcoholic gumshoe.
  13. Maybe that's why the Glazers went along Ferguson's choice.
  14. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Ryan-Giggs-taunts-Liverpool-by-saying-Manchester-United-could-never-collapse-like-the-Mersey-Reds-article666407.html
  15. Spurs are definitely favourites for fourth if results stay as they are tonight. They've made up several points on us this year, and that pattern is highly unlikely to change if we are capable of dropping points against Fulham.
  16. I'm sure people will start talking after today's unfortunate result, but I think you've got to give a manager with the gravitas to tempt a player of Mata's quality to Old Trafford ample time. It would be a tragedy to deny David Moyes the opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the club.
  17. If Gerrard played half as many games, he'd contribute twice as much. Ferguson showed how to handle past-prime greats and get more out of them than is reasonable to expect.
  18. Hahaha, some of them are talking about 'net spend' to defend his transfer prowess at Everton now. I seem to recall net being dismissed out of hand when certain other managers pointed to it...
  19. They need to look at their team, look at the players - last season's title in particular was near-miraculous and I suspect that was a big reason for Ferguson's departure. There was no way to realistically top that. It's a deeply average team with a great goal scorer.
  20. They've got an outside chance, perhaps. I just look at their team and see mediocrity. Last year was the final flourish of a great manager wringing every last drip out of a team that ended up being the weakest title winning side since Leeds or Blackburn. Blackburn is probably the better comparison as they too lost a superb manager in the summer following a title win.
  21. As much as I'd like a draw or humiliating defeat, I'm not especially bothered if they win from here. I don't think they're a threat, and it might expedite Arsenal's yearly slide.
  22. Yep. ITV weren't going to get anything whoever won; Sky getting gazumped was the best possible outcome for this contract.
  23. Now that Wenger and Mourinho have dropped their masks and revealed themselves as complete, irrefutable racists, I do not see how their positions at the helm of Arsenal and Chelsea are tenable. They have to go.
