  1. I believe he is what some people might call a ‘generational’ player. Shame we didn’t have the will / ambition to make a proper effort to get him.
  2. 28 years old, crocked. Probably not the sort of player we should be looking at.
  3. Going to need to spend in excess £300m net next summer if we're to remain competitive, that's for sure. Job half-done at best this window and there's a pretty good chance we'll need to replace both VVD and Salah.
  4. They’re as good as safe. There’s no way they’ll be one of the three worst, although 16th might well be their ceiling.
  5. That's the softest red card in football history, surely. Does hammer home the need to purchase a top class midfield this week. The squad is threadbare at the very, very best.
  6. Going to be a long, long season unless FSG spend the £200m more we needed this window. Imperative that it’s spent now, even if it means overpaying for players - the money is there, it’s just the will that is lacking.
  7. As things stand, it’s very important that we don’t risk players in the domestic cups & Europa League where possible - absolutely cannot play Van Dijk or Konate and should not be risking first choice midfielders either. We simply don’t have the means to recover if any of them get injured.
  8. Makes you wonder if Buckingham Group were also in charge of this rebuild.
  9. It’ll be a tough fixture. I wouldn’t be surprised to see honours even.
  10. It’s not FIFA fan chatter to state that this isn’t the signing a big club should be making. It’s a panic buy through and through, and we’ve seen it happen from Caulker to Davies to Arthur and beyond. Somehow, despite being third in the rich list, little Liverpool do this sort of shit time and time again under FSG. It’s nothing against the player who I’m sure deserves his reputation amongst the Stuttgart fans but this is not the way a club of anything like our size should be operating, yet it happens time and time again because we have owners be exchanging high-fives if we finish 10th in the league and can pretend it means we don’t have a pot to piss in.
  11. Next summer starts now. Who will be the next high-profile player we fail to sign?
  12. Whatever happens, if this is it for the midfield he needs to hit the ground running and fucked off in January if he struggles. He’s 30, so unless it’s purely as backup, this needs to be a sure thing of a signing.
  13. Not sure that “older than Fabinho and ever so slightly better in some metrics while being a significantly worse passer of the ball in an inferior league” is what FSG’s Sunshine Band had in mind, but now we’ll be told he’s great value in a tough market and that will be that.
  14. Fucking hell, it just gets better. Hahahaha.
  15. Consider it well and truly written off, by the Littlest Big Club That Could.
  16. More chance of FSG trying their luck with a necromancer and Lynda Bellingham.
  17. We’ve seen this story before though, and we know that’s not happening. This is Steven Caulker, this is Ragnar Klavan, this is Ben Davies, this is Ozan Kabak, this is Arthur Melo. Just waiting for a weary Klopp to tell us that “this is the best we can do” because we don’t have limitless money to spend, or even as much as that ever increasing list of clubs who spend more despite having far smaller fan bases and never sniffing European football.
  18. But he’s done well for Stuttgart and no other big club would have the slightest bit of interest in signing him! Smartest guys in the room, savvy recruitment etc.
  19. He’s going to be literally it, because we’ve seen this story time and time again - he’s this year’s Arthur, only not on loan.
  20. We’re in big, big trouble in Andre is seen as a sure-thing for the position long-term, so I suppose the farce of bringing in someone older than Fabinho would make sense in the context of the clown show. Would mean a potential CB would have to be home grown though, wouldn’t it? I wonder if we’re looking at Maguire for that position - we’re not looking like a threat, so I suspect United would deal with us as they would West Ham. Alternatively, perhaps someone from a mid-table Championship club.
  21. https://x.com/dmlynchlfc/status/1691891837894599093?s=46&t=JxFNarAyLj26Setga_WNDg Not at all disappointed in this case.
  22. Solid signing for a club gunning to steal a top 7 place and Europa League football for next season.
