  1. Gotta say, I was well impressed with the taco-munchers when they played us. 4-1 to them.
  2. Rumour has it that Mr Jazz Hands might have got himself in a spot of bother over in Bokland. Just rumour at the mo, mind, but watch this space...
  3. Simon, you're just so precious. I just want to ball you up and take you home for my tea.
  4. Hmmm - worrying stuff, at least for those of us who support England. I won 600 nicker on the Spaniels in the Euros, and now I remember why.
  5. Three words for the Hodgson haters: Martin. O'. Neill.
  6. On the contrary, I think if there was any English team he might go to, that would be the one. Obviously, he won't go to any Manc team, but the lure of London might swing it for him. If Nando goes, I won't hold it against him. It'll be a terrible, terrible thing for the club, but I for one wouldn't blame him for wanting to go to a club that is in a position to win things. At the moment, we clearly don't fall into that category. What I think is more likely (ie, what I hope) is that he gives us another season to try and achieve Champions League status. If we fail again, we don't deserve a player of his quality, is the sad, but true, fact.
  7. Drogba has fractured his elbow, not 'broken his arm', and may or may not play, according to Svennis: World Cup 2010: Cote d’Ivoire’s Didier Drogba Could Be Passed Fit To Play - Report - Goal.com BBC Sport - Football - Didier Drogba may miss World Cup after fractured elbow
  8. I'd be gutted if either left, but I can't say I'd blame 30-year-old Gerrard going to Madrid to win something. The truth is that our club needs serious rebuilding, and he's getting into the autumn of his career. If he needs to go, he should go with our blessing. As for Nando, I think he'll stay, at least for one more season - he has more years to plays with. No Champions League qualification next season, though, equals no more Nando. That said, with RB gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see both disappearing through the door marked 'exit'. And who could blame them?
  9. You pretty much said it right there. I suspect Rafa is a bit of a cold cunt as a boss, and I'm not sure I'd want him as my superior, but there's no denying he brought us great, great highs to go along with the lows, and for those he deserves respect. Good luck to him.
  10. No matter, wouldn't say no to either of them. Now, really must sleeeeeeeeeeeep - 4 hours till work. Peace.
  11. I still disagree about Dalglish. He was one of my boyhood heroes, but, despite the (ancient) BR success, he's just not the man to take us forward IMHO. I agree with you about Pellegrini, and suspect he wouldn't take this job, although I do think you should learn to spell his name correctly. (It'll be Roy, by the way.)
  12. No, I have severe misgivings about the internal machinations at the club. As I've said, I'd like to see Roy Hodgson take the reins. Pellegrini, I could live with. FWIW, I think Kenny would be a disaster.
  13. I accept much of what you say, although I have doubts that Benitez was the kind of sword-wielding LFC-defender you claim him to be (for personal gain, or otherwise, as you say). Which financially minded custodian/team manager do you suggest we appoint once Rafa's gone?
  14. My point is, if this doomsday scenario you envisage were to come to pass (unlikely, given LFC's HUGE support globally), I don't think any manager would be in any position to stop it. The board is the board. They're the boss of the manager and everyone else below him. It really doesn't matter who the manager is, in terms of what the board/owners want to do, so it's a pretty irrelevant comment on a thread like this.
  15. Like I said, obviously not if he is no longer manager of Liverpool Football Club. (Not that he isn't just yet...)
  16. As if Rafa was somehow the titanic hero standing between the board and their devious plans to destroy Liverpool Football Club. Don't be ridiculous.
  17. No, I'm hoping for a manager who knows his eggs, and achieved great things with a team of limited size and spending power. Admittedly, our current spending power isn't much better than FFC's, but we're obviously a much bigger club, with much better players, and you might hope our transfer budget will reflect that in the next two years (*hope*, as I said). I, for one, would be delighted to see Hodgson appointed. Tell me why I'm wrong...
  18. I suspect not, if he is no longer manager of Liverpool Football Club. (Not that he isn't, just yet.)
  19. Quite. You might as well say that about Purple Nose.
  20. Really well said. Sometimes, you just come to the end of the road. For me, there's no hard feelings on either side – we've been through massive highs and lows together with Rafa – but sometimes things need to change to spark new growth. Now is definitely that time for us, and I wish Rafa all the best.
