  1. Not great, but not nearly as bad as some seem to think. Two things to bear in mind: 1) Carlsberg aren't necessarily stiffing us. Sponsorship is worth more to AIG, Samsung and Emirates, for example, because they're global brands. Carlsberg is more of a European brand. As such, we won't get more money from Carlsberg - the only option, therefore, is to find another sponsor. 2) Man U, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal are all on longer-term deals than us which are naturally more lucrative. If we wanted to go with a global brand (sony, say) they would no doubt stipulate a similarly long-term deal. Liverpool will be unwilling to enter into this because we'll hope to sign a combined shirt-stadium sponsorship deal when the new stadium's built. Hence the three-year contract. 3) We have just trebled our sponsorship revenue. So, not perfect, but not totally shit.
  2. The good news is that Claire Short, a high-profile politician, called for him to apologise. Outright told him that he should. That will get into the national press.
  3. I disagree, I think it's an extremely ineffective form of protest. Question Time doesn't exist to attract ratings, it exists to fulfil the beeb's public service remit. The best method of protest, I believe, is to text/email the show and (calmly and rationally) condemn his actions. There was a general consensus that the Brian Reade article at the weekend was a very good thing - tonight is an opportunity to inspire more of the same in the national press. He's clearly on the panel because he's topical (if you watch every week, you're surely aware that sitting on the panel isn't exactly a badge of honour), and the only reason he's topical is because of the protest on Saturday. As I said, the programme doesn't attract a huge number of viewers, but it does attract a high proportion of journalist/media type viewers. This is why I don't understand all the "bbc are cunts" posts. Surely this is a good thing? QT's a public forum and being held accountable on it for his views will help further publicise the boycott and the reasons behid it.
  4. From the bbc website: " Question Time is now interactive during the programme. You can take part in the debate by sending us a text message. The number is 83981." As someone else mentioned, keep it sensible and polite and it should get on.
  5. I don't have a real problem with this, to be honest. The BBC are bang out of order employing him (and I believe Saturday's protest will have led to questions being asked at the Corporation), but they have every right to invite him onto Question Time. It could prove useful - if there's a Red in the audience who can ask the panel about Hillsborough, McKenzie will have to answer and the dickhead will expose himself live on TV. I'd imagine this will lead to greater press exposure of the Justice campaign.
  6. Think Zenden's having an okay game in fairness to him. Bellamy's doing his best, but feeding off scraps. Pennant's bottling it big time though. And just how bad a game is Howard Webb having?
  7. What's interesting about Terry Mc is that, although he's apparently an outspoken Newcastle fan, he gets a lot of shit from the Geordies; "parasite" is a word I've heard used more than once. I've also commonly heard it asked why he can't "fuck off back to his beloved Liverpool". My first post, by the way, so hi.
