  1. hehehe .. I've been in a very bad mood after the manner of Saturday's defeat so tried to forget football even exists. I win a game of chess and I'm talking FF on the GF! I guess I needed to win a game of chess to regain my belief that you're supposed to win if you play better than your opponent ;)
  2. Thanks mate. Looking forward to Athens now! If we go through tomorrow, we'll draw the mancs and beat them like we did last year in the FA Cup. You heard it here first
  3. Yeah we both made mistakes with our queens .. mine was more scandalous than yours though. When I have an advantage I tend to play quickly .. that cost me my queen. I guess I was lucky I took yours before losing mine.
  4. thanks mate and good game .. you certainly fight till the end .. the very end :)
  5. First semi final has just finished. The Sir is defeated ... hard luck mate ;)
  6. Hard luck mate. You should be saluted for having the balls to compete here
  7. That was the easiest game of chess I have ever won ... one move and the guy resigns! :)
  8. Has this tournament been cancelled or something? This thread is on the third page of the GF and my opponent LEF hasn't made a single move in the game we started a week ago ..
  9. Things I was most pleased about in 2006: FA Cup win. Beating Everton with ten men. Things I was displeased about: Losing at Goodison. Our disappointing away form. Best player of the year: Ronaldinho. For us, Gerrard. Worst player of the year: Ashly Cole. Best game of the year: FA Cup Final. Best pundit of the year: Pass Worst pundit of the year: Agree with Neil G. Manager of the year: Frank Rijkaard. Chairman of the year: David Moores. Twat of the year: Gary Neville. Twat of every year. Goal of the year: Steven Gerrard vs West Ham in the FA Cup final.
  10. No ... we only do comebacks from 0-3 down in European Cup finals ;)
  11. It will be very difficult to catch Chelsea and Man Utd, but we have to believe we can do it or else there is no need for trying. We must be optimistic. Next round of matches: Liverpool vs. Watford Aston Villa vs. Man Utd Wigan vs Chelsea Come on Liverpool, Villa, and Wigan!
  12. They're on 15. I want Chelsea to win for the same reason, but I can't help thinking that maybe, just maybe we still have a chance ..
  13. in other words .. finish second and united win the title or finish third and chelsea win it?
  14. will take you on UM.username: scousewillis
  15. English teams usually have no problems qualifying for the last 16 of the CL. However, the last 16 is not a good yardstick to measure against. I think we should look at the winners list. In the last 15 years it was: 2006: Barcelona 2005: Liverpool 2004: Porto 2003: AC Milan 2002: Real Madrid 2001: Bayern Munich 2000: Real Madrid 1999: Man Utd 1998: Real Madrid 1997: Borussia Dortmund 1996: Juventus 1995: Ajax 1994: AC Milan 1993: Olympic Marseille 1992: Barcelona Spain: 5 times Italy: 3 times England: 2 times Germany: 2 times Portugal: 1 time Holland: 1 time France: 1 time La Liga for me is the strongest league in Europe.
  16. Tom R - Very funny Dave U - Knows what he's talking about. Rashid - A cyber legend
  17. Klaas Jan Huntelaar ... 78 goals in 112 games career stats: Season Club Competition Matches Goals 2002/03 PSV Eredivisie 1 0 2002/03 De Graafschap Eredivisie 9 0 2003/04 AGOVV Apeldoorn Eerste Divisie 35 26 2004/05 SC Heerenveen Eredivisie 31 17 2005/06 SC Heerenveen Eredivisie 15 17 2005/06 Ajax Eredivisie 16 16 2006/07 Ajax Eredivisie 15 7 Total 112 78
  18. The least said about the situation here the better .. especially on the FF :) The problem is not with the number of teams who've won it. It's with the gap between top and bottom. Only 5 clubs (Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Deportivo, and Valencia) have won the Spanish league since 1985 yet the title race is always much closer in Spain, and the chances of bottom teams winning against top sides are always higher.
  19. Which match is least likely to witness a surprise result? Man Utd away at Charlton Barcelona away at Racing Santander Werder Bremen away at Bochum I don't even bother watching Man Utd away at Charlton because it's almost a formality .. this is what makes the premiership less exciting in my opinion.
  20. Not as un-fair as the current system is on small clubs though! That's the key point I guess .. when playing football is considered "work" there's no room for romance any more
