With all due respect, the last people who should be listened to on this subject are the Hillsborough Family Support Group who's opinion on the subject is understandably coloured by the events of 1989. If the Taylor Report stated 'that standing was not intrinsically unsafe', why was it ever banned in the first place?
I stood on the Kippax, man and boy for 20 years without incident and would have no hesitation in taking my eleven year old son on to the 'New Kippax' should one be created at Eastlands. In fact I am constantly telling him how much better both the occassion and atmosphere was in the days of terracing. If Borrusia Dortmund can successfully accomodate 24,000 on their 'yellow wall' without killing scores of them each week I'm sure that the English authourities can manage to organise a terrace. Perhaps our MP's would like an expenses funded tour of Germany's grounds to see how they do it. Think of the five star accomodation boys and girls.
Unfortunately though I don't expect terraces to see the light of day. With a ticket bought days before the match, detailing your seat number, the 'safety authourities' inside English grounds know exactly who they are looking at when the CCTV zoom's in. That isn't possibly on a terrace where fans can mingle freely and that's a privelege Plod will fight tooth and nail to retain
