  1. Everyone at the hospital where I work has been called in for a meeting with the charity's Chief Exec tomorrow morning at 10.30. This has been on the cards for a couple of years now and has come as no real suprise but it still feels a little odd. I was quite happy to take the money and get another job two years ago but with the current financial climate and the fact the settlement is truely fucking awlful I'm not so sure now. Nearly 11 years dedicated service for £3,800.
  2. A couple of stoushes myself and Section have had on a couple of threads recently, and also because I’ve just finished reading the Grapes of Wrath, have got me a’thinkin'. Do you think that big business with the willing or coerced support of governments has been gradually and sneakily wearing down the rights and community that the working man gained through the union and labour movements of the later 20th century? Do you think it’s the aim of the “great owners” to keep people where they want them, disorganised, bombarded with advertising, slaves of and for the capitalist system, the sole purpose of which is to make the rich man richer? Or do you think there are a few specific issues which are shit, but on the whole things are going ok and we have a lot more choice and rights than 30 or 40 years ago? Or maybe something completely different?
  3. Fuck off with that floating advert Fuck off with your mispelling of Cortina Fuck off with your Reverend & The Makers sound, it was shite the first time.
  4. My favourite Pirate is Blackbeard. His real name was Edward Teach, and he was by far the most famous pirate who ever lived. Though little is known of his life before he began his career as a pirate, most historians agree that he was born in the English around the year 1680. In the early 18th century, he left for the Caribbean, where British privateers were inflicting heavy damage on Spanish shipping. It was the beginning of a career that was brutal, glorious, and short. In Jamaica, Teach served as a privateer under Captain Benjamin Hornigold, who gave him command of his first vessel, a sloop. He later captured a French merchanman, renamed it Queen Anne's Revenge, and converted it into his 40-gun flagship. When Britain revoked all privateering licenses in the Caribbean, Teach took the Queen Anne's Revenge and turned to outright piracy, quickly becoming the most feared pirate in the hemisphere. He came to be known by his spectacular blackbeard, a title he cultivated to his advantage. Before going into battle, he would tie slow-burning fuses to the ends of his beard, then light them as he approached enemy vessels. Many times the mere sight of him standing on the deck, his legendary jet-black beard glowing and smoking, was enough to terrify merchant captains into immediate surrender. In 1718, Blackbeard left the Caribbean to raid the coastal towns and inlets of Virginia and the Carolinas. It was a relocation that would lead to his death, but not before he padded is bloodthirsty reputation with some of his most ambitious rampages. One of his most famous exploits was a week-long blockade of Charleston harbor, conducted order to obtain medical supplies. At one point, Blackbeard was in partnership with the governor of North Carolina, Charles Eden, who also gave him protection. But, the governor of Virginia eventually put a price on Blackbeard's head. Blackbeard was finally captured by Captain Robert Maynard on November 22, 1718. Captain Maynard cut off Blackbeard's head and hung it on his ship.
  5. "We must Anglicize in every way, in speech, in political ideas and principles, and in their way of looking at relations between church and state. We welcome the African and the Asian who becomes British. We have no use for the African or Asian who remains such... He must revere only our flag, not only must it come first, but no other flag should even come second." Wrong or right?

    My problem is

I tend to post when i am ratarsed. I am sure a lot of you do too. If not pissed then frustratred after the result. Now while i can forgive this, and i am sure most f you will. I can't forgive the uneducated and blatent slagging of players and the manager. We are playing badly. The manager is not getting the best from the players. But even at the lowest depths that the team perform, support them! This forum is the worst i subscribe to. If Dave or one of the moderators could cancel my account i would appreciate it. Thankyou.
  7. Morning all, I tend to take all this takeover talk with a pinch of salt but recently on other football sights some bloke has been 100% certain that we are being bought by Asian consortium for 460m for 100% stake in club, this is supposed to be done by end of June.... This isn't me tellin u because I don't know if I believe it, it's more asking if any1 else heard anything like it? What have ppl heard about take overs??? This fella wouldn't say sources or who was in consortium which made me question it... What u think?
