  1. Im doing an essay for university, and im writing it on whether I think graffiti is art or vandalism. Im leaning more towards art, but only if its regulated really... anyway, I need some points to raise and would like you guys to debate amongst yourselves and Ill pick some good points to use in my essay. I need for and against though so dont hold back if you disagree, I just hope someone has a good counter argument... anyway, debate!
  2. The talk about the new stadium has got me a bit wound up about the acceptance of mediocre architecture in this country. I've been working in an architect's office for 7 months now and what I'm finding is that clients and planning are, generally, in favour of traditional design instead of something new and contemporary. For example I was asked to draw up a scheme for some 'luxury' flats in Peckham and I produced a design that was modern yet hinted towards the local vernacular. We were happy with it but we came back from a meeting with a planning advisor and were told that there was absolutely no way we would get it built, not a chance. I was a bit pissed off but have no choice to accept it. I have now worked the scheme through with input from the planning advisor and what we have ended up with is a horrible looking block that is supposed to look like a 'London Villa'. It doesn't, it looks awful and is further from suiting it's surroundings than the first scheme. The planner has ended up dictating the design of the building, if this is happening then why employ an architect? Just get a builder to do it. Don't get me wrong, I love old buildings as much as I do contemporary ones, it's the constant longing to design something traditional that frustrates me. We live in the 21st century, not the 18th, 19th or 20th. Buildings should be designed to suit modern life and this is happening in other countries, the Dutch being a great example of how to bring good design into the mainstream. Take housing as another example, planners tend to favour duo-pitched roofs over mono-pitch or flat ones. Pitched roofs are a waste of space and money, both in construction and energy bills. The reason traditional houses don't have flat roofs is because they didn't have the building technology to make them water tight and insulated to a high standard. Now we do, but we persist with pitched roof houses, it makes no sense to me whatsoever. Over 80% of new homes fail to reach CABE's (Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) standards, and soon a new Michelin-Star style rating system will be brought in to mark the standards of new houses. This is great news and hopefully one that will kick start a new generation of architecture in this country. Anyway, rant over. It would be good to get some of your opinions on the subject as it's one that I am deeply interested and involved in.
  3. The Premier League kicked off for real this weekend. Anything that happened before Klopp should really be disregarded, it’s only fair really. If the Premier League had anything about them they'd have wiped out all the results prior to this weekend and started from now. Sunderland fans will be on board with that as they too will feel their season gets under way now after their own managerial change. Fat Sam took charge of his first Sunderland game this weekend…. and lost. Controversially too, as West Brom’s goal probably shouldn’t have stood as Berahino clearly fouled Pantilimon. You can tell it was a foul because 1) Pulis would only say afterwards that "the referee didn’t think it was a foul and that’s all that matters", and 2) Alan Shearer said it was a fair challenge. I find that any time there’s any doubt about something, it’s a good rule of thumb to just see what Shearer thinks and then go oppo on it. James McLean is a dick though isn’t he? He was taunting the travelling Sunderland fans at full time and Danny Graham and Lee Cattermole had to be dragged away from him. In fairness, the Sunderland fans had been giving him shit, but could he not just be the bigger man for once? Pulis just said afterwards that McLean isn’t the sharpest tool in the box. Fucking hell Tony, that’s the understatement of the season so far. McLean’s IQ is lower than his shoe size. City hammered Bournemouth at the Etihad despite having some key players missing. Sterling bagged a hat-trick, which prompted his fat slug of an agent to crawl out from under the rock he’s been hiding to put the boot in on Brendan Rodgers. Just shut your mouth you fat tit, no-once cares what you think. Bournemouth were denied an absolute stonewall pen when it was 0-0 and then Sterling’s opening goal was a yard offside. Both were horrific calls by the officials and although it’s largely irrelevant on this occasion as City would surely have won anyway, there’s no excuse for them to be getting such easy decisions wrong. Sterling’s third goal really stood out to me, not because of anything he did, but because of the sheer one footedness of Jesus Navas, who twice spurned a completely open goal because it would have meant using his left foot. He ended up missing an unmissable opportunity, and was bailed out because Sterling wad there to follow it up. No exaggeration, that’s the single worst piece of football I’ve seen in my life, I’d never pick the useless cunt again if I were Pellegrini. Seriously, just watch it and tell me I’m wrong. How can you play football for a couple of hours a day for your entire life and not be able to use your weaker foot? I don’t even know how that’s possible, but there are some proper one footed bastards out there. It’s inexcusable really. De Bruyne seems to score or assist every week doesn’t he? He’s a weird one, because there’s not really anything about him that jumps out when you watch him. He’s not flashy, not especially quick, doesn’t dribble much, he just seems to have really sound technique and gets the job done. That looks like money well spent so far, and you’d have to wonder just what the fuck Chelsea were thinking in letting him go and persisting with the massively over-rated chinless wonder, Oscar. They don’t get too much wrong when it comes to transfers but they probably wish they could have that one back. Staying with City for a second. Yaya Toure, what a whiny fucking bastard! Every time he opens his mouth he makes himself seem like a right cunt. Last week he did an interview in France which was basically him crying about not getting the recognition he deserves and insisting he signed for City not for the money, but because he wanted to win things. Erm, you were at fucking Barcelona and City made you the world’s highest paid player! Not even James fucking McLean would buy that. The whole interview can be summed up with this quote: "I do not want my two sons playing football. I don't want them going through everything I have had to endure. That would hurt me. Studies for them - that's what I told my wife. Everyone thinks that I am happy: I've won titles, I have lots of money, but no, I am not happy." It’s mad how Kolo is such a fun loving, stand up guy loved by everyone, and then his brother is such a miserable, moody, spoilt, self entitled, delusional gobshite. Speaking of self entitled, delusional gobshites, it’s been a good week for Arsenal fans hasn’t it? A win at Watford followed by a surprising 2-0 upset of Bayern in the Champions League. The “Wenger hokey cokey meter” almost exploded after that Bayern win as the dial hit “IN” with the force of a small tsunami. 4. Got a shitty letter this morning from my ISP "TalkTalk" regarding filesharing. This is the first letter they have sent me so i'm not that fussed about it as it came across as a slap on the wrist, although it did state that the BPI may pursue a court order to view my private details to gain a prosecution. I quote "to do this they need personal information such as your name and address. They dont have this information and we will not voluntarily give your details to them, as the privacy of our customers and your freedom to use the internet is fundamental to the way TalkTalk operates." The album in question is The Hoosiers which i d/l 2 months ago! now im pretty sure that fuk all will happen, but if i was in the dock my argument would be that i could legally borrow the album from a friend and copy it or obtain the album from my local library and copy it so therefore your honour, every library in the country is guilty of file-sharing. Obviously my argument wouldn't count for shit in the eyes of the law but i am fukin right on that part. :wallbutt:pathetic cunts! oh well i'm off to see how the rest of my downloads are doing!
  5. Traditional sense of the word, not the twisted blueshite one. Who is bigger, Liverpool or Real?
