  1. So watford were less open and honest about it? OK!
  2. I really, really dont think he is wanting us to go out. But, I think he knows if he started to try and win the EFL Cup and then the FA Cup, we wouldnt be in this position in the league. For want of a better description, he's playing the percentages to win the league. I really cannot get my head around the thought we should go all out and dilute our attempt to win the league or retain the CL in favour of trying to also win the FA Cup.
  3. Correct. And if we allowed admission to the replay to all fans for a tenner, the minimum the FA will allow, these twats would say we were robbing shrewsbury of a decent payout. As for disrespecting the cup, have these cunts not realised the draw is actually being made on The One Show?! Fucking laughable the number of people lining up to take potshots of us 'disrespecting' the cup while ignoring what the FA is doing.
  4. Watching Star Trek TOS, I, Mudd, classic episode.
  5. This, of course, substantially changes the dynamic” http://www.fsf.org.uk/blog/view/The-price-of-change-new-FA-Cup-rule-stings-home-and-away-fans And that confirms that the clubs cannot charge less than £10 admission fee. Ergo, the FA determines the price of the tickets. If Liverpool wanted to give free admission or charge a fiver for the replay, it cannot.
  6. I always thought we were trying to finish 1st but always ended up around 4th because the team just wasnt good enough and lessened their chances by being burdend with extra cup games and replays!
  7. Im pretty certain if Jurgen hadnt been charged with ending a 30 year wait for the title and retaining the Champions League, the FA Cup and likely the EFL Cup would be higher priorities. But that's just my thinking.
  8. Id be more interested to know the number of refs who looked at their game's highlights afterwards and thought 'fucking hell, I dropped a right bollock there!' The ref who took our game was a late change when Marriner phoned in sick apparently.
  9. The FA set the ticket price for their competition not Liverpool. This pays for the 3 way split of gate receipts and ultimately prize money for the winners.
  10. If Andy Holt is bothered about big clubs killing smaller ones, perhaps he could campaign to get the FA let lower league clubs switch cup ties to PL grounds if they wish? Or, perhaps ask that the FA gives up it's share of home gate receipts when lower league clubs play each other in the cup as well? It seems a bit obscene to me that the FA takes its share of all gate receipts in every round of the cup and then promptly hand over £6m is it, to the winners who are as it turns out, always a PL club! There's a lot of horse shit flying around over Jurgen's stance but, the way I see it, shrewsbury are getting a big payday (good luck to them) and, a great chance to progress in the cup and maybe get another PL club away in the next round. All our fans now know what sort of team and manager will be in situ for the replay.
  11. Well, I hope shaun custis is ok. After his bile on Sunday Supplement the other week, Id be surprised if he hasnt worked himself up into a state at this development and isnt needing oxygen.
  12. Fuck me, we're really getting pelters from all sides. Andy Holt, chairman of Accrington Stanley is calling for us to be 'censored and fined, heavily.' He's stopping short of asking for us to be thrown out of the cup for some reason though! Im loving this bad boys image we're cultivating, we'll be overtaking Millwall at this rate!
  13. Mate, Im just trying to debate with you like you were sat opposite me in a pub. Im not being arsey. But I think some people are missing what seems pretty obvious to me about this break. People ask, why do players like Lovren, Matip, Fab and a few others need a break, why dont they go in for training. The way I see it is this. Klopp wants to refresh the players so he says everyone connected with the first team, that's him, players, physios, coaching staff and players have a break. That means even if Matip, Lovren and Fab come in for training, there's no first team coaching, no training drills and set pieces on the pitch. They need everyone in for that because they train for specific opponents and not just running around etc. Klopp has said, all the players will have personal routines to do during the break to maintain their fitness or in the case of Matip and co, build it up. People seem to think at this stage of the season, training is mainly running around the pitch and doing sprints. Im sure they do a little of this but at this stage training really is all about the opponents play, how to defend against their set pieces and practice ours. I really dont agree with your assessment of big money competitions is preventing lower league clubs fielding full strength sides. Like I said, roughly the top and bottom 8 clubs in each league outside the PL are more intent fighting for promotion or relegation. Ive said many times Im more than happy for Liverpool and other PL clubs to let lower league sides keep all the gate money from home cup draws. The FA stopped these clubs swapping home advantage to get a big payday at places like Anfield. I saw someone post who doesnt want to better united's 1999 treble. Who doesnt? But united had won the title how many times under ferguson when they did that, was it 4 or 5 times? They didnt do a treble in 99 after going 27 years without winning the title. city won a treble last season but, look at the number of easy draws they had in both domestic cups. And I'll argue all day it cost them a billion quid to do it. You're right, an extra game against shrewsbury will not cause us to lose the title. But then in the next rounds if we drew city, united, chelsea and arsenal (yeah, bump draw luck I know) people would want our strongest team put out to face them. Those additional games on top of CL games would have an impact and potentially injuries. If league performances dropped off as a result, the nerves inside Anfield would be like a crescendo and that would cause a massive wobble. In my opinion, we need to get the 30 year monkey off our back before we start acting like kiddies in a sweet shop and saying I want the FA Cup as well or I want a treble as well. And Im sorry but you only need look at threads to see loads of people on here are going on about smashing city's points total and going unbeaten. For what it's worth, I think once we do get over the line, we very likely will lose a couple of league games as, if we're still in the CL, Jurgen targets retaining that trophy and resting more of the elite players.
  14. This is a tragic event. Lot's of speculation. This guy has a channel on YT called blancolirio. He's an airliner pilot currently grounded due to prostrate cancer concerns but within months of being returned to flight. He gives an explanation of the known circumstances and weather situation faced by the pilot.
  15. This. And let's not forget them singing 'sign on' and 'feed the scousers' meaning you lot are poor plebs while we are oh so much better off than you.
  16. It isnt though. It means all the first team coaching staff, physio's and manager all need to be in as well. Someone even posted yesterday they dont think Klopp needs the break either! It also means without the rest of the first team squad, the players cannot go through training pitch routines and set pieces etc.
  17. These are the same social media posters who are fuming that Liverpool will play a U23 side in the replay that gives shrewsbury a great chance of winning at Anfield, getting a big payday and potentially, see them play in the next round? Or do they want a full strength Liverpool to smash shrewsbury and see Liverpool into the next round instead? The faux fume from oppo fans just gets better.
  18. Except not long ago you were saying you wanted us to smash city's points total and go undefeated! And I dont know where you get the idea people think its ok to lose sometime. The point is you put a side out that wears the shirt. Its expected to win no matter what. You only have to read every match day thread on here (and elsewhere). Same as your notion that its big money competitions that are killing the FA Cup. It is not. The top and bottom 8 sides in the Championship, League One and League two all tend to play weakened sides in the cups because they see promotion or avoiding relegation as more important than the cup. It's a sad fact but it's realism.
  19. No, an extra game against Shrewsbury might not make a difference. But we want to win the league, we want to win it with a record points total and we want to win it by going undefeated all season. And we want to retain the CL. And while we're doing that, let's put our strongest 11 out in later rounds of the cup because we've been unlucky and drawn united, city and spurs. We want to win the FA Cup because there's no point just getting to the final and losing is there? Only now we start well Im not bothered about record points, nor going undefeated and Im not bothered if the players are fucking wasted in the CL because we got all the way to the cup final and lost. And never mind that virtually everyone can see the players look fucked in the last 15 minutes of games since Christmas and New Year. I dont know about you mate I just dont think we can spread ourselves thinly. it's all about perspective.
  20. Correct and I think even Jurgen suggested giving lower league club the option of replays? And it was the FA who stopped lower league clubs swapping home advantage for a bigger payday when they drew a 'big' club. There also this idea that the PL and CL with the big money has resulted in clubs playing weakened sides in the cup but that's not correct. Pick any league, The Championship, League One or League Two. Essentially, the top and bottom 8 clubs (if not more) in each of those leagues are fighting for promotion or to avoid relegation. Virtually every one of those teams will field a weakened side in the FA Cup because they know getting promotion or avoiding relegation is more important to them long term.
  21. Why would he stop managing in March? Do you not think he might want to try and go unbeaten in the league not to mention the CL? No, they arent doing any overseas training. The players, manager and coaching staff are having a break. The players will be given individual fitness regimes to stick to for the 5 days.
  22. Do you not think he needs a break from the stress of it all?
  23. He's saying the first team squad isnt going to play, full stop. The players still have their own training regime during this winter break and wont be at Melwood. There's 2 league games before the replay so Im guessing Fab will be used as a sub in these. After their showing today, I dont think I want to see Matip and Lovren get any first team minutes in place of Virgil or Joe!
