  1. I think De Boer will be the one for FSG when Rodgers goes. It would be a gamble again, not so much of a gamble as Rodgers but still a gamble of sorts, he's won trophies but in Holland, he has some CL experience but he hasn't exactly been around the block as a manager and surely has a lot to learn still.
  2. We'll need title winning form to get CL unless it gets really silly and 62 or 63 points is enough which is a slight possibility looking at the way things are going in this league. 29 points from 20 games, 70-72 is the usual target for 4th in a normal season, that would mean us needing 41 plus points from 18 games, that ain't going to happen.
  3. Yep, It's the New Year and Saints are still there, they ain't no pretenders, they are a serious threat to top 4.
  4. Indeed, i like him, he's a good guy and as inoffensive as PL managers come, he seems to know what he's doing too and his teams play some nice stuff. Its a bit of wind up from a Liverpool fan perspective looking at Saints and them near enough always making the right decisions behinds the scenes with managers and players, i wish we had some of that nous from our suits.
  5. I know what you mean but we haven't had the right person in charge since Rafa, that's why no-one lasts, it's all about getting the right man in charge of things, then we can go about building something solid and consistantly compete with the best 3/4 teams in the league, i don't think that's asking too much for a club of Liverpools size. How about looking at the other end of the pitch for once.
  6. Martinez looked and sounded like a man without any answers in his after match interview.
  7. I hope so too, even if his career does end on a low here it matters little in the big picture, he will always be one of the best players to have worn the shirt. Rodgers though, he will never be amongst our greatest managers, FSG need to go out and get us the proper manager that this club deserves.
  8. Lucas can't do Gerrards donkey work, he can usually look after himself but he's not up to doing the extra work.
  9. There was no excuse to fuck with the team after Swansea, none, even the happiest of happy clappers has to admit to that.
  10. Someones hacked Pennants account. Fans are in denial, heads right in the sand, to busy making excuses for mediocrity, it's was as clear as day that the same team should have been picked and Gerrard shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11 nowadays. This, no fan really wants us to lose, we all want success for the club though to be honest i can imagine a scenario where some fans wouldn't mind us losing a few to make sure that Rodgers goes, a bit of short term pain for long term gain.
  11. We don't even look like scoring either, haven't all game from open play.
  12. So if someone was to say the Chinese love their gambling, or Indians are manic cricket lovers that could be/is racist?
  13. Red house talks a whole lot of sense in this thread, it's a good read. The Arsenal fan stuff is bang on as well, some Liverpool fans are turning into those Arsenal fans of 7/8 years ago, taking the moral high ground because we play this great attacking football (which we often don't) whilst other teams hoover up the trophies year after year, the standards are so low with some nowadays but one of the most bizarre head fuck mind warping things is that the fans that expect or want higher standards for the club can often get mocked, told they are full of shit or just that they are plain wrong by these low expectation mediocre accepting peddlers, im lost as to describe just how mad that is. A club of Liverpools size with its milions of fans worldwide and the amount of money it spends on players should be striving to be the best or at the bare minimum competing with the best, anything else isn't/shouldn't be good enough, The usual retaliation to this sort of belief is 'unrealistic expectations' which is a load of apologist tat.
  14. Same here, i don't see him as a DM either, who knows though maybe center back is his calling?
  15. It evened itself out in spectacular style last season and we still won nothing, 100 odd goals wasn't enough. You don't need to score loads of goals to win lots of matches, or trophies, they're just a bonus really if you have a solid back line, with us though we need every goal we can get because we are so easy to score against, it's a struggle to see how being so poor in defence is ever going to be anything but a massive problem for us, we can write off ever doing anything in Europe for a start, forget that. Is it really too much to ask for us not to defend likes clowns? 2 or more goals conceded every 5 games under a manager who has no track record of success, nothing to back his work up apart from what looks like one lucky season (or even half season) where things fell into place and even then it didn't win a trophy. Absolutely, he needs a big improvement for the last half of the season if he is to have any chance to keep his job, he has to get that CL place really, he's very lucky that we somehow still have a decent chance of that. I remember thinking Kenny will and has to go because he simply wouldn't/couldn't be trusted with more money, hard to see that being any different with Rodgers unless there is vast improvement in results, some better performances of some of his signings wouldn't go amiss either. I'd be amazed if we ended up spluttering to 6th/7th and they let him keep the job, winning the FA/League Cup we know doesn't count for anything with the yanks, Europa League would make a big difference but after what we saw in the CL and even when playing well like the other night it's hard to see happening, there will be a bad game and goals conceded in there somewhere that will blow it for us, hope im wrong on that one, would love to see that Europa League won and another European trophy in the cabinet.
  16. Rafa was an elite manager, mate, i think he still is too, Rodgers isn't anywhere near being an elite manager, he still has it all to prove that he's merely a good manager for me and not a lucky one season wonder. How can a good manager be so useless when it comes to defending? how? he has one of the most expensively assembled defences in Europe too, how can this not be a farce? If people want to compare Rodgers and Benitez then take a look at the defences, 19 games gone this season (Rodgers 3rd season) and 25 goals conceded, We conceded 25 in the whole of Benitez's second season, within 2 seasons the defence was a rock, it's scary how far away Rodgers is away from doing this. I can't help but look at evidence like this and be far from convinced that we have the right man in charge of Liverpool.
  17. If anyone at our club had a half a clue then he would have been a priority in the summer, wouldn't have cost a bomb either unlike now.
  18. Agree, Rafa wins hands down, it's a complete non contest.
  19. Yes that was our best performance of the season alongside Spurs, the rest of our performances have been average at best (maybe a couple of exceptions, Bournemouth for one) with the vast majority being shite, nowhere near good enough, i think we're lucky to have 28 points to be honest, Burnley and especially Saints and QPR was pure robbery on our part. Flimsiest of evidence? i think there is a mountain of evidence stretching back quite a long time, it's there to see if you want to see it but i get why some fans don't won't to see or admit to it. Saying things like Gerrard can do what Lucas and Henderson do is just wrong, he has never has been able to protect a defence for example, Lucas is our best at that, he can't get box to box like Henderson anymore and isn't capable of doing all that dirty work that needs doing in the middle of the park, without the ball we are usually a man down when Gerrard is playing, it's an unfair burden on the other players and team having to cover his flaws. Of course Gerrard still has qualities like set piece delivery and passing but for me they are luxuries the team can ill afford nowadays, last night wasn't flimsy evidence, it was yet another clear example of why Gerrard shouldn't be a regular starter.
  20. That should be true but i thought similar about the Burnley game and look how that went, yeah we scraped the win but they dominated us for a large part of that game mainly by winning the midfield battle with ease. Basically exactly what Grinch says a couple of posts up, it's a must win game, don't risk it, lets ride the momentum and confidence of the Swansea game and give Leicester a hiding, the Allens, Johnsons and Borini's can play in the cup whilst most our main players can have a rest and be ready for the next league game.
