  2. Yes, of course. But there is room for a bit of reflection on where we can improve, is there not? I recognise the progress made but am interested in how to fix the shortcomings.
  3. You know, the whole "we're going to win the league" thing? Or did the last two games not happen...
  4. Aspas, Luis Alberto, Sakho, Toure, Cissokho and Moses. I actually can't think of how the summer transfer window could possibly be worse than that load of shit in terms of outfield players. Sakho and Mignolet are the only ones who have remotely impressed. but for me they have been a cause for concern in equal measure. 49 goals conceded is an alarming number. Yet we play one more game with an outside shot of the title . Transfer windows are overrated. What a crazy season.
  5. Let's assume this were a game of Elite on the BBC Micro Model B personal computer. It's the disc version so there's sightly sexed up graphics and none of your silly loading times. Liverpool FC are Commander Jameson and have progressed from Harmless through to Poor, Average etc. until we are now at, say, Dangerous level. We've had a fair few scrapes with those Viper police ships, and were frankly embarrassed one or two times by the big Thargoids, but overall we did okay and progressed through the ranks. The next step is to move up to Deadly but much depends on our Big Sam. If he can't come up with the goods we wait until next season to see what happens.
  6. I'm with you on that one. I've always thought he's the man.
  7. He sounded like someone was holding a .45 to his head.
  8. Interesting idea but probably a bit far fetched - there's no way we'll have a clean sheet after 89 minutes.
  9. Some of it has. For starters, a side on the verge of conceding 50 goals is doing a fair bit wrong.
  10. All valid points but a little introspection can be a good thing. .
  11. It's just the fact that we had done the hard work and then when we had our noses in front and the finish line was in sight things started to go wrong. And the manner in which things went wrong was spectacular. That's why it will go down as a choke.
  12. Misguided or not I think it will go down in history as one of the classic sporting chokes if the weekend goes as expected.
  13. I factored that in and am happy to take the hit on a premature thread if the unthinkable happens.
  14. Key moments and defining issues for me:- chopping and changing at centre back. I believe we would have had a better chance of winning against Chelsea and Crystal Palace with Agger in the team. It's not that I think Sakho's a bad player, more that Skrtel has a better understanding with Agger and our possession at the back isn't as high risk; Simon Mignolet. He's a great shot stopper, and his aerial presence seems to have improved recently, but I think this is an area we might be able to improve upon; Failing to beat 10 man Newcastle with an hour on the clock. Not good enough; Poor transfer windows left us with a weak bench. This made it hard for Rodgers to bring on impact subs during tight games; Gerrard error/slip; Inexcusable kamikaze attaching after Norwich scored their first Henderson sending off? (not sure about this one) I'm sure there are plenty more.
  15. If the football Gods came to you and offered you (1) a guaranteed Fat Sam win against Man City and (2) a guaranteed win for us against Newcastle, in return for a 5 year contract for the big man to manage us, would you accept it? There are no clauses in the contract enabling us to sack FS on the cheap. We are stuck with him for the full five years under the terms of the deal we cut with the football Gods.
  16. That was all Gerrard's and Mascherano's fault. Lucas did nothing wrong.
  17. Protecting the lead wasn't in his thoughts until it was too late.
