From Rodger's interviews he seems quite intelligent, so I doubt he'd be stupid enough to say we will sign an exciting player and then go and get dempsey(unless the exciting signing will be done later in the window and we got dempsey this week). its not that dempseys not good. hes ok but his playing style is similar ot carroll and ibrahimovic. as good as ibra is I wouldn't call him exciting. so I dont think the exciting signing will be a dempsey type player my moneys on sturridge, ramirez or some player in spain with a fancy name

nowhere near enough quality in the forward areas and spearing is simply not good enough to even play as a backup. atleast 3 signings needed

Requiem for a Dream Started off kind of slowly but pretty amazing and powerful film. Soundtrack was brilliant too and the last 20mins was O_o. Great film and although I just watched it, I noticed it gets compared to Trainspotting a lot but I'd definitely say, while Trainspotting is easier to like, Requiem is the better film 8.5/10

Well obviously you factor in suarez+carrol/ torres+ babel. but we did spend just over £100 million on transfers but about £30 million net. I'm just saying that we were not too dissimilar to chelsea last season in the transfer market. of course chelsea will spend £100 mil + this season, but like us some of it will be funded by the sale of their players. but yeah you're right, because without a ridiculous sale of a player for £50 million, we probably wont be spending over £100mil for a long long time

Its just not the same though is it? pirlo is world class and milan made a huge mistake in letting him leave. kalou is nowhere near that level. Also kalou would be on massive wages that would not reflect his ability. who was the last person we got on a free from chelsea to do a similar job to kalou? joe cole and look at how his wages are making it difficult to bring other players in who deserve to be payed that. if we want top 4 we have to aim for better than kalou. saying that you would have them over cole and downing means nothing, as they pretty shit tbh. i would rather give sterling a go than kalou, or do what other teams do, pick out gems in other leagues and get him for a modest fee on a modest salary

you have a short memory. i think we spent that plus about 5-10 million last summer. and adding to that, the amount of money you spend is irrelevant, its how you spend that money if all signings were like torres then no one would get anywhere. if our signings were similar to newcastles then we would be in the top 4. spurs, arsenal and newcastle are the best examples to show that its not about the money you have to spend but how you spend it. obviously having a lot of money to spend helps but if chelsea had used their money like city used theirs then they would have won a lot more after mourinho left

In all seriousness though I would say Suarez and Agger are the only ones. I would say Johnson but taking into account the fact that Ramos he would go into the RB role if Puyol was fit then he would be benched. Gerrard would of, no doubt, but not anymore.

I would have to say Downing, with his pace and brilliant passing would comfortably nudge iniesta/silva out of the left wing spot.

a) oh the irony b) it may not seem so glamorous, but getting a team promoted and then getting them to 10th in their first season in one of the best leagues in the world is brilliant and if that doesn't impress you then ...... well then it just shows how ironic it is in you saying other people know "nothing about football"

If we had signed AVB then I would have been pretty happy to be honest but in saying that I dont see the argument as to why AVB is so much better than Rodgers. AVB won the portugese league with by far and away the best team in portugal. He did well in the Europa league as well with them and did well at Academica. However, that league is uch different to our one. Brendan has proved that he can do well in this league last season. The argument that he didnt get them playing that way is irrlevant because I dont remember Martinez getting Swansea promoted or to 10th like Rodgers did. AVB will be a success, but it would take patience and given a long term plan I think he would have done well at us and the same with spurs. Next season will definitley be an improvement even if we had the same squad, simply because I believe Rodgers will do the job

Theres so many problems with buying a new LB. One is that I dont think we need one as Robinson has proved he is capable in the same way Ashley Cole proved when he was at Arsenal. Buying a new LB puts him in 3rd choice and means we would have signed 2 of them in the last 2 years. That doesn't give Jack any time to break into the first team. The other problem is that our defence is not our problem, its our attack. We dont score enough goals and thats where the large majority of our transfer funds should go too. Wasting money on a new LB would be stupid as it would be put to better use in funding for the winger and striker we desperately need. If we only signed 3 players this transfer window it would be ok. A clinical striker, like Gomez or Huntelaar(obviously not those 2 in particular) a left winger as I'm sure Suarez will be on the right wing next year and also a competitor for the DM role for Lucas, we need a massive upgrade from the current replacement that is Spearing. Goals from midfield are also a problem which is why we need someone like Gylfi. 4 players max is all we will sign this window. The suggestion that we sign 6 players, as someone else said earlier, 2 of them in defensive positions, is crazy.
