  1. Clever. Again why not buy a proven 28 year old poacher. Other than just throwing out the insults tell me why he wouldn't improve our squad/first team. For someone who talks such "shite"/"guff" no one is actually proving they either know anything about the player or why he wouldn't work here. I suppose it's fine that Carragher showed more of a poacher's instinct today than any of our other players and that time and time again when we get to the byline NO ONE is trying to get infront of their men. Let's just have a look at this ball over the top merchant and see the types of goals he actually scores shall we? Now when you're watching MOTD tonight check out how many times Carragher is in the place Bent would be and tell me we wouldn't value his goals that he's made a living off.
  2. Thanks. You look so grown up swearing all the time like others on here. This time however unlike previously I won't rise to the bait. Just come and see me next year when you realise that a lot of what I'm saying is spot on. Why don't you try oh I don't know actually pointing out what you don't agree with and why? You can't seem to have a decent footy debate on here it's just "fuck off you cunt" which adds nothing to the site whatsoever. I don't actually listen to TalkSport, I was in my mates and he had it on on in the kitchen on his tv, not that it matters. What was said was right. Some of you "fans" really do make me embarrassed to support Liverpool and the idea that you're a manc if you have a different viewpoint? Yeah you're nothing like RAWK at all, you know except when you all are.
  3. He's a poacher who has consistently scored goals and is exactly what we don't have. We have the players who can beat their men, hold the ball up and use skill but we don't have natural finishers. I'm sorry but you must be blind if you can't see a) what we lack up front (despite having a great partnership) and b) that Darren Bent is ideal to add what's missing. 28 years old and at Villa had a ratio of a goal every 2 games before he was just completely forgotten by Lambert. 9 goals in 16 games the season his first season for them and 9 in 22 the next year. In 2009 for Sunderland he scored 24 goals in 38 games. Also most of his goals come from tap ins from wide balls not balls over the top at all.
  4. Much like the same post I made pre transfer window but with the realisation now that having had my rant we can't change the past so let's look to the future. I still believe everything I said in that last post but ... We continue to play teams off the park for fun and prove that first team wise we're capable of mixing it with the best thing league has to offer. Today was probably the most impressive performance of the season along with against United at Anfield but once again the negatives that are holding us back were all too obvious. First off I've always been on Henderson's side and while not being too overawed with his performance against Arsenal regardless of people fawning over the goal and assist, I was much more impressed with him today. Add in Gerrard being able to play to this level for a year or two more at least and we've got a real partnership there that has a really nice balance to it as long as Lucas is there behind to allow them to do what they do. Johnson should always be played on the right, I hate seeing him on the left and while I can think of some good games he has had there he's just much better on his natural side and we're a better side when he and Enrique are both on the pitch together. Agger continues to be a quality defender who, if not for injury the sky would have been the limit, given his class and commitment to the club he deserves his spot in our side. Sturridge and Suarez? Well I think someone on TalkSport for once actually nailed it, there's no better partnership in the prem already. It's a joy to watch two players with such quality. Then you have your maybes who are on the fringe of being quality players but through injury or inconsistency or lack of games arn't there yet. Sterling, Suso, Coutinho, Kelly (injury only), Wisdom, Robinson, Allen, Coates. These players need to step up or in Kelly's case have a bit of luck and suddenly we're on our way to having a squad. Then there are the players that have gone backwards this season and cost us time and again in big games. Reina and Skrtel. I think both of these players are on borrowed time Reina especially. Reina - Jones - Gulacsi ? Not enough quality or depth. Reina has been regressing for a while now and Jones is a good back up keeper but no more. We need to have an established number one with two back ups fighting for that second spot. Chelsea have Cech and Courtois waiting in the wings and have just signed a 17 year old very highly rated keeper named Duljac (I think that's his name). That's the kind of depth we need to be looking at. Reina is all but out the door and what ever money we get for him we need to march straight to Germany and tell Borussia Moenchengladbach that we want Ter Stegen, this lad will be world class for the next 15 years and is already very close to Neuer for the number one shirt. It could be 20-30m but that's basically 1.5-2m a year for the next 15 years and he fits the remit of our new owners to a tee. Defensively either Skrtel learns to stop bottling it or he's gone and with the 10m plus we get for him we need to reinvest in a proven CB and then give Kelly the chance to become our CB for the future as well as buying a decent CB for backup, nothing special or expensive maybe even a nice free transfer. Defensive midfield - We need to get a young player or bring through Coady for the future and we need to bring in an experienced player who can sit in front of that back 4 like Lucas does either with him in some games or instead of him in others. Central Midfield - Like Henderson I hold out great hope for Allen and think he can not only be a good player but a great one. Him and Allen are the future of this club and need to be given time. I will always give FOOTBALLERS time, which is why I have no time for shite like Carroll and Downing. I'm quite happy for us to stay as we are in this area. We don't really play with wingers more attacking midfielders/forwards who start wide or go wide. Suarez, Sturridge, Suso, Sterling, Coutinho, Assaidi. We're stocked here. Strikers - Suarez and Sturridge make a great parntnership but neither are poachers and once again as with every great game we've played the thing that stands out with the individual mistakes has been the poor positioning of our attacking players in the box when we put a ball in. Dzeko is nothing special but he knew where to be for that first goal, he was inside the 6 yard box, he wasn't waiting at the back post for a ball that was never going to get there, nor waiting for a pull back he was getting across his man and giving himself and his team the best chance to score as poachers do. We need this kind of player. Borini? Well he showed signs of it Italy but nothing over here YET. Yesil? If you believe the hype he's exactly this player, can he step up who knows? If we can get Downing, Carroll and Reina out that should be enough to bring in a world class or potentially world class young keeper and if we're shrewd much more besides. Reina is gone and 10m and Valdes is apparently the offer which I'd seriously consider but I'd prefer 20m and go and get our own young keeper like Ter Stegen with the extra thrown in. Add the depth, improve the quality and it won't cost a fortune. I know this is a mad shout but what about Darren Bent for the poacher? If anyone has proven he knows where to be in this league when there are rebounds or the like then it's him. The fees he has commanded for the goals he has scored and yet a bid of around 8m could probably see him in a red shirt. Just one to ponder, doesn't have to be him but it's that kind of player. Suarez - Bent - Sturridge. I hear Gomez could be available cheap as well. Suarez - Bent - Sturridge. We don't need a lot from that poacher, just that he is in the right place at the right time, our team have proven time and time again we can supply the ammo.
  5. Exactly right. Once again Downing did not once beat a man. There was a beautiful outside of the foot pass by him but that aside he makes Kuyt look like Messi. I would have been very skeptical of Coutinho in the past but seeing what he's done on loan at Espanyol gives me more hope that he can be a great player for us. The talent is there the question has always been about consistency but he's shown improvement in that area and could be a steal given the natural ability he has. I'm more than prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and him, Suso and Sterling rotating to fight for that position will do me fine.
  6. You misunderstand me. In two games when teams have pressed on Lucas has looked overmatched where as in the past that was where he came into his own. He is so important to us that when he's not 100% working his defensive magic it shows but once again I hope that this is merely down to him finding match fitness but once again I'd like to say that we need another defensive midfielder of his quality to back him up or replace him on the pitch at times to save him burning out.
  7. Players I've actually seen at the match: Buffon Cafu - Desailly - Hyypia - Maldini Makelele - Gerrard Messi - Xavi - Ronaldinho Fowler
  8. Buffon Cafu - Sammer - Kohler - Maldini Redondo - Matthaus Messi - Zidane - Maradona Ronaldo
  9. He played well don't get me wrong but towards the end of the game when teams press higher he just looks to have lost that step. I hope it's just down to match fitness because he's some player and one that we can't replace with our current squad. There is literally no one capable of doing what Lucas does for us in the rest of our squad. If Coady wants to get into this Liverpool team then sure watch Gerrard for the heart and soul but watch Lucas for the positional sense and realise THAT is our biggest need squad wise.
  10. Exactly right. As we sat back and gave him no support he had no chance but to watch the ball played around him. That was the time that if we had designs on winning the game at 2-0 we should have put some pacey outlets on there to help him like Sterling and Arsenal would have either had to score the 2 goals and not concede (which they would have as their defence was all over the place) or sit back and kill it off, which we don't have the players to do.
  11. A story once again of wasted chances and poor individual mistakes. Downing was as shit as per but down the other side when the crosses came in there was n one in the right place to finish them. Jamie Carragher picked up better positions than any attacker in our side. Suarez and Sturridge are fantastic players and they are making one hell of a partnership but neither are poachers and that's what we're crying out for. If we can get Reina, Downing and Carroll out and bring in a poacher, a winger and a keeper and get some squad players in we're in business but until then we're pissing in the wind. That's United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City plus others we've completely out played now. I worry about Lucas and I hope before the end of the season he's back to his best but he doesn't look anything like the same player and he could be another one we need to replace. Once again our first 11 was sound but once again when we called on the bench it all went to shit. If Barca are prepared to pay 10-15m for Reina as is reported then take it and put it towards 20 year old Ter-Stegen. I've watched this kid for a while now (being as BMG are my German side) and we'll have a world class keeper for the next 15 years. If we want to try and get Nordveidt while we're there, I'd have no problem with that.
  12. So once again all those that are giving it the big one with the insults and the negs. Who replaces Agger and Skrtel if they are out injured long term? Who replaces Lucas? Who replaces Suarez? Think about it and you know I'm right. As for that monstrosity of a post from "Guest", well the fact it was loved so much tells its own story. You like to think you're not like RAWK but you're exactly the same, just too far up your own pretentious asses to realise it. Did I say sign players for 20-40m? No. Did I say we didn't have a good team? No. Did I say I was against Rodgers? No. We didn't need more squad depth, that's why we went after Sneijder and Cuenca. I particularly liked us going after Cuenca when someone above stated we don't need any more wingers and called me for it but has nothing to say about Rodgers going after him? Yeah right, just close your eyes and keep being great fans until you realise it's all too late just as it was when we didn't do enough in the last window and paid the price. What became of the knowledgable fans who used to support this club I don't know but feel free to quote this when Agger, Lucas, Reina, Gerrard or Suarez get crocked because sadly the odds are it's going to happen to at least one if not more. The most simple concepts are lost on some of you and it's quite appalling.
  13. Yeah I'm sure Gerrard was thinking about an unproven 20 year old from Inter via Espanyol just like I'm sure he was doing cartwheels when Riera was signed. Wake up and smell the realism. I see nothing has changed with the insults on here, seriously grow up eh.
  14. I am behind the team. I do appreciate we have a strong-ish first 11 and I like that we are promoting youth but I also strangely enough think we are a big club and as such should act like it and part of this is supplementing the young unproven players in our side with proven quality players. Gerrard already said we need 3 more players and he's right. We won't keep hold of Suarez unless we address these issues.
  15. I see I'll just ignore how shit we are from now and applaud the blind apathy which this club is run with. Yay, go Liverpool Soccer Club.
  16. I love Suarez but I'm not making the same mistake of thinking he's here for the long haul I've made that mistake before. I'll just support the lad for now and take each day as a blessing. If we don't put significant quality around him he should leave and I won't blame him in the slightest. That video was superb.
  17. I don't see anyone arguing with the point though, which is because it's sound and stands on its own merit.
  18. Henderson, I respect your ability but you're not anywhere near the player you should be. Henderson, it makes me sick that people think you had a good game against Arsenal. Henderson, you're the living embodiment of the standards of our club dropping. Henderson, I still think you could be quality in the end. It's a work in progress.
  19. First let me preface this post by saying I like Rodgers (he's been poor the last two games with his decisions for me but on the whole he's been a breath of fresh air). I also like the signings of Sturridge and Coutinho and I realise that we have too much over paid crap in our side which affects our ability to spend and rightly so. Now with all that said can I pose a simple question? Well I'm going to anyway. Who replaces the following players if they get injured: Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard or Suarez? Now ask yourself, how many of them are good enough to play for Liverpool and have proven themselves consistently. Our problem isn't one to eleven, we can put out a side that can compete with the very best, our problem is squad depth. I hate to do it but let's compare with United. They have two also rans that have contributed nothing or very little to their squad. Ben Amos and Sam Johnstone. Now let's look at Liverpool's squad and see how many of our players have done very little or nothing for this squad. Coates, Coady, Yesil, Flanagan, Gulacsi, McLaughlin, Sama, Sinclair, Morgan, Ward. Now I realise these players are young and in some cases haven't been given the chance but so what? The point is United have 2 players in their whole squad that are also rans, we have 10. TEN! Add in the fact that Borini has been a dissapointment albeit maybe down to injury, Allen can't find his feet, Shelvey is a work in progress, Assaidi (not sure what happened to him) and Suso (not being given a chance despite impressing) and we're on our ass. Not to mention the Carroll face and Downing being non existent to the extent that now third division wingers can get out the deck chair when he's about. This is obvious to anyone, all you have to do is open your eyes. So given that we are so lacklustre in depth in positions such as centre back, defensive midfield and have no true targetman to speak of what did we do for the transfer window? We tried to get Sneijder and when we failed decided that was enough just to try and now we're hoping just like we were when we didn't sign a striker that Gerrard doesn't get injured or that Allen and Henderson become the players they could be. Did we even try and acknowledge the fact we needed centre back and defensive midfield cover? No, we spent out last moments of the transfer window trying to sign Isaac Cuenca, a 21 year old winger from Barcelona. Brilliant! I always thought the idea of walk on with hope in your heart was for the fans and not a business philosophy to cover up abject failure but over the last two transfer windows I've been proven wrong. Oh and if you don't like the United comparison then feel free to do it with Stoke or most other teams in the prem, they all have better squad depth that we do and that, is both frightening and depressing.
