I'd like to see a team/formation that we're going to play for 90% of the remaining games we have this season as we need to find some consitency if we want 4th. I don't think our season has been helped by all the tinkering around with the midfield and forward line. Granted we've had to change personnel due to Lucas being out, Suarez being banned and Gerrard being injured however we've still fucked around a lot with the formation and rotating players. I'd like to see our strongest attacking 5 on the pitch for every game which is Gerrard, Suarez, Bellamy, Adam and Carroll (lets just give him a run with Suarez and Gerrard in the team). I'd like to see Maxi be given a chance but it seems Kenny has isn't a fan. This would do me: Pepe Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Gerrard Spearing Adam Bellamy Carroll Suarez If we can't get goals with that line up its time to pack it in.

That's why I mentioned playing all our players who can get behind teams. As you've just pointed out Gerrard, Suarez and Bellamy can penetrate teams. Maxi can as well with him movement. Carroll clearly doesn't fit the mould but with the other above mentioned players pushing forward he surely must score more than he has? We need to work with what we've got as I can't see us buying a striker in the next few weeks.

This is spot on. We're absolutely shite at getting behind teams and we have been for years. Scum are brilliant at it and thats where the majority of their goals come from. Spurs are also decent at it. Both these teams have settled formations and they more or less use the same attacking players. I just wish we'd settle on a formation and stop swapping players. I'd love to see Maxi, Gerrard, Bellamy, Suarez and Carroll in the same team for a prolonged period of time. If we can't score goals with those in the team it's time to pack it in.

Cheers Dave, another fine report. After 30 years of going to the match I cant go anymore as I've moved to Sydney. Consequently I look forward to your reports and spend a lot of time reading comments on the forum. I've never actually been arsed to comment but I thought its about time. I actually thought we played ok against Citeh especially in the first half. Pepe had a shocker and that effectively lost us the game. We didnt recieve a dry bumming from them like last season. People need to get some perspective on here as well. We're trying to integrate 5 new players into the team and that doesn't happen in half a season (certainly not with all the rotation of players/formations). We're playing pretty decent football up until the final third. For the second half of the season if Kenny can settle on a team/formation and we're a bit more clincal up front (which we will be with Gerrard back and Carroll will start converting a few of those headers that've hit the woodwork) then we'll be in with a good shout of 4th. As frustrating as it is at the moment we've got the basis of a very good team. A bit of patience and faith in our manager is required. Think back to the shite football that was being played under Woy and the last year of Rafa's tenure AND those cunts who were running our club.......we're moving in the right direction.
