  1. sickening to hear him I hope he wont play us on sunday.. Anyway, has anyone got that picture where Terry is following/spying on Torres and his wife?
  2. They shouldn´t hold out for a lot more tbh. In 18 months is can leave on a free. In 12 months he can sign a precontract. In the summer he can pay out his remaining salary, and be off for a lot less. From a financial perspective it is simply dumb not to cash in. As long as they feel he is not the one factor that keeps them in the premier league, they should really part with him. No one will pay the stupid amounts holloway is quoting when he will cost significantly less in a few months. Blackpool with its facility has not the financial power to reject 5-7 mill pounds.
  3. A bit disappointed to be honest. A coach with better man-management skills could work wonders for the lad. Too low fee as well. Best of luck, Ryan! Show your true potential!
  4. Spot on! It would mean that Suarez and another attacking acquisition up front excels at drifting out wide though. Suarez likes to move a lot, but he would also need to defend as a winger or L/R M. Would like the other attacker to be Hazard, but Im worried it is in the downing mould! Mvila is a great shout, but I also think Lassana Diarra would be a good option. Proven as well. I think a LB like Coentrao will be way to expensive and also not solid enough defensively. With Kellys progress, Id rather see us using GJ on LB, and buying a new CB. a CB that can actually PLAY football. KICKING it doesnt cut it.
  5. Any reliable sources claiming this?!? Downing is older than what we should look for, and definitely not good enough. Id take albrighton though, or Young.. Unless we go for Hazard. Im sick of average players....just like Downing.
  6. How come those pro-Rafa people have a constant need to bring in Rafa in every Roy-bashing thread there is. Booting Rafa was right, hiring Woy was wrong. Simply dont see the point of bringing in Rafa all the f****** time!
  7. Over and over again we see that a player is regarded as "not actively interfering" with play even if he clearly draws attention from the defenders or even blocking the view of the keeper. This rule is apparently exercised differently from ref to ref. Look at the Villa equalizer vs Chelski; Heskey is offside and is obviously "stealing" attention due to his presence. Clark comes in behind him. The ref could not know whether the ball was going to Heskey or not. My point is that even though cole is in offside when the ball leaves Gerrard, the ref waits and sees that the ball is 3 yards above his head, and rules him as not being actively involved. When the ball comes off elmander, cole is free to tap it in. What we need to determine is the definition of "actively involved" I think. Personally, I think if the payer is there, and the defenders need to mark him out (not knowing if he is on- or offside), then he is involved. The entire rule is messed up. Remeber a few years back watching France I think, when Henry was 30 meter offside, but the ball was played out on the wing, with an onside player bombing forward before squaring it for an henry tap-in. The player CLEARLY gained an advantage of his offside position because no one could come near him. Still the goal was awarded. This rule was changed a decade or so back I beleive. Before, the ref would call offside if a player would be tying his laces by the cornerflag while his teammate scored..
  8. For the long time continuity. This means that a change of manager wont totally alter the squad. so when a coach comes in it is more for the tactics and strategy, rather than spending 18 months to put "their stamp" on the squad. The communication is vastly important though, between Comolli and the manager as they need to agree on the type of players, and probably also on the type of football they represent.
  9. Too bad he had to leave. Spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, top lad. Said he would NEVER have left I Rafa didnt tell him to. Absolutely loves LFC!
  10. Think Suarez is a bit overrated, but he could finally offer some skills on set pieces. Hazard... go get him. the kid has got something special. seems slightly one footed, but he looks class. Needs some nurturing and diciplin though, as his head seem to grow faster than his skills at the moment. Sanchez, Hazard and LB Cissokho from Lyon. When summer comes, get a decent DM (actually a fair bit of quality available), and a CB that can run and pass the ball. To keep Torres and Gerrard happy and make them fire again, we def need some attacking talent come january. Hope Kenny gets them in, and a new manager can work on it.
  11. He did indeed have backing, but he promoted some of the young stars and brought them into the side at an early age (These kids had class though). He was still the one handling the side and making them play together, and brought in several other players as well. I just like the dutch way of playing footy, and hopefully Frank could bring this to us. I agree that he is not fully proven at top level, but he may have what it takes. Marwijk would be my favoured option. Like how he dumped De Jong too, and they play fantastic football, he is used to stars and he is fairly young. I wouldnt mind Hiddink, Van Gaal, Advocaat, hitzfeld or magath either.. No nonsense, and proven records. Slightly older though...
  12. Cheers, mate. I suspect the people who want Oneill to have been asleep for 15 years, or at least not paid attention to his games. Shit football, shit players, shit strategy, poor sense for transfers (except Young), folds under pressure and has no class whatsoever. Chelsea sent them packing with 6 or 7 last year too... and he stills plays Heskey. Says a lot. The list of potential candidates is long, and I would prefer a long term option who would thrive at a challenge like this. from youth to seniors.
  13. Important to remember that there are several big managers who has failed in Turkey, Aragones, Del Bosque, Löw, hiddink to name a few.. The Holland way of nurturing young players is something we all want to see, he has learnt from the very best, and he also made Barcelona int what they are today. With a proper assistant, I think it would be a very good appointment. He do need some funds though. Appointing Hiddink would not be for the lng run as he is never more than 2 years at one club. What we need is a young manager who wants to initiate the entire project of synchronizing the youths, reserves and the first 11, and make us play football again.
