I've just had a three week lay off from xbox due to having a "boxer's fracture". Just had my cast off today and so as long as i can actually hold a controller still, i'll be getting back on this. I'm expecting to have my arse handed to me on some form of elaborate tablewear, so if any xbox TLWers fancy helping a brother out my gamer tag is in the "gamertag thread". Have you managed to get onto the new maps yet dynamite? Any good? I only ever played a small amount of BF2 on a friends computer so i have no real memory of the Karkand map... apparently it was the tits.

I was thinking about picking MW3 up at some point but I can't really see myself getting bored of BF3 tbh, especially with the map pack coming in Dec, so i don't particularly feel the need to spank another £30 on a game i probably won't play as much. Maybe some day. The difference in gamplay between the two has been mentioned before (Cod = fast, BF3 = tactics etc.) but i've come to find that BF3 can be lot "pacier" and intense than i was expecting it to be and i like it... BF3 is still very much about the teamplay though and i find that that's what can make the difference between me enjoying a match and rage quitting like a little girl - there's no fun in a team not working together and getting pwned continuously. So if you liked BF1942 for its teamwork gameplay then i'm pretty sure you're going to enjoy this quite a lot. Just give it a while to get used to it.

Mmm.. don't own a PS3 myself so can't really comment on your problem specifically, but for the first couple of weeks on the xbox there were major problems with the EA servers which meant that the Quick game option was completely redundant and we were told by DICE/EA to use the server search. Its been sorted for over a week or so, so i'm curious what could be causing the problems on your ps3. Could be something similar and i can't imagine it would be to do with your house... although i could be wrong. I apologise for my lack of help, hope it sorts itself out.

Cheers for that. Shall scour the interweb for deals immediately. I liked Kotor (the only RPG i've ever played) and i see this is made by the same company, so if they're as fun as those then i reckon i'll be looking forward to these.

God that looks good. I know it's mainly cut sences, but the cut sences in GTA use the in-game/gameplay graphics anyway, so i reckon thats fairly representative of what it's going to look like. Been a big fan of GTA since the first one and i absolutely loved RDR (a truely epic game) so I'm looking forward to this a fair amount. I don't really mind if it isn't released for another year tbh because i'm going to have so many games to get through in the upcomping months. BF3, possibly MW3, Assassins creed Rev., Batman, Skyrim (life swallower i imagine) and i kind of want to get mass effect 1 & 2 but i'm not sure if its worth it.

Ha! Now that sounds a lot more useful than Turn, turn some more, fire gun, crash. Don't know why it never occured to me to try it (i spent a lot of time bail out of the plane in San Andreas and that was hella fun), probably easier and a lot more fun too... i shall experiment tonight. Ta

Ah but do you cunt around in the jets doing nothing? If you're taking out helicopters and such then you're actually being useful... if not, errr.. start taking out some helicopters?... I've actually tried the jets a few times and i was definately being a hinderance, in fact i was fucking horrendous. Went something like 1. Take off 2. turn 3. turn some more 4. fire gun 5. crash

Got to agree with you on the campaign, dynamite. Beautiful graphics for the most part and stunning audio, but lacking substance... the cut sences do get a bit irksome as well. I'd probably be a lot more pissed off if it wasn't for the multiplayer, which i'm very much getting into. I was a fan of BFBC2 so was expecting this to be enjoyable but then got slightly worried after the beta.. fortunately they seemed to have ironed out most of the glitches, the high res pack has improved the graphics too and i don't have to play operation metro all the time. I've actually left the campaign for now, (might finish it off at a later date) as i'm having so much fun with the multiplayer, although it did take a while to get used to. There's been a lot of comparative talk about BF3 and COD (not here but generally), personally i don't see the point. Each game provides a different aspect of enjoyment for me so there's no point comparing the two of them.., just buy both of the fuckers! I probably lean more towards Battlefield but it's all down to personal taste. I'd say the one thing that can let the game down (and it's not the games' fault) is your team mates. As people have already mentioned your team mates can be a serious hinderence to how well you do in a game. I was playing conquest on the map that dynamite was describing (one with the docks - flag D??) and i was constantly having to dart between C and B (which are fairly close) trying to capture the flags - where were my squad mates? - cunting around in planes doing absolutely nothing. I appreciate the lure of jets but for this map on conquest there was no need whatsoever - tanks yes, helis' yes, jeeps yes, jets - Get to fuck. I didn't mind too much in the end because i got a ridiculously high score (for me) and that was due to having no assistance from my team mates. Still lost the game, "Way to go guys!!" Anyway, i'm up to rank 13 and enjoying the game immensely, definately worth renting or buying if you're a FPS fan - xbox gamertag is elmerdinkley1 if anyone fancies errr "squading up"?.. One last thing.. has anyone unlocked the robot thing or know what it actually does?? Oh, and MagicS... that Paris map on conquest is insanely fun.

Just thought i'd add to my last (excessively long) post by informing those of you with Xbox (and possibly PS3) that, apparently, DICE have announced there will be an optional High Res. Texture pack that can be installed onto your system to improve the graphics, which (as has already been mentioned) were rather dissapointing in the beta. Game will come with two discs, one with single player, one with the Multiplayer and this Res upgrade. Good news if true. Afraid i can't add the url's due to being a lurking twat. Just google "battlefield 3 high resolution pack"

I'm actually still quite excited about the games' release even though i was pretty dissapointed by the beta, "retarded" i hear you cry..i'll try and explain myself. Firstly I heard on the tinternent that the xbox and ps3 betas were three month old builds (hence all the bugs and no vehicles etc), which kinda gives me hope that the plentiful bugs will have been removed by release date, now whether this is true or not i don't know for sure, but i'm taking Hutch's word for it (Hutch - incase you don't know - is a game comentator on you tube. search "Hutch/Nanners BF3 Beta Let's Play (#1)" in youtube and you'll find the set of videos where he's playing the beta through with a friend, long winded but he does mention it in one of the videos - could be #5?). Secondly the campaign looks as though it could be shit hot, coupled with that is the fact it has the co op ability, it could more than make up for a poor mulitplayer. In all i guess i put in around a few hours on the beta, and in summation i'd say 1. It's completely different to BF:BC 2 in feel and takes a while to get used to. 2. You upgrade weapons and load outs much quicker then BC2 3. It's much harder to spot the enemy and takes time to get used to recognising what to shoot and not. (i swear i spent 2-3 minutes shooting a tree convinced that there was someone proning at the base of it) 4. Noticably more camping due to the prone ability, something i hope doesn't ruin the game. It's hard to say, accurately, what this game is going to play like on other levels, as the metro level really isn't anything like a "battlefield level" (huge map, open space, lots of vehicles etc.) so I'm hoping it comes together in the final release. I'd say rent it first get an idea if you're excited about it, coz i don't think metro does it justice at all, although peoples reservations over the beta are pretty spot on - graphics not as nice as i expected (think i watched too many PC gameplay videos - wish i had a system good enough to handle it) hit detection very poor at times and more bugs than you could shake an ignited stick at. Fingers crossed they don't fuck it up, coz it could be a great game.

Yup, can't really argue with that, mmo's certainly are geeky as fuck (one of the main reasons i never contemplated World of Warcraft), but i could probably make an exception for star wars as i have a disturbingly unhealthy passion for it... *shudders* felt dirty saying that

Man i'd love to get this game when it comes out, but there's no way in hell my piece of shit computer would run it. Its the computer equivilent of those small black robots that zip around the death star and star destroyers going "der der de de" - i.e. fucking useless. Guess i'll have to keep myself occupied with SWKOR and battlefront 2, maybe FU2 if i can be bothered. Damn you ever improving computer technologies! Damn you all to hell!!
