  1. 3 games. 3 goals. Against crap teams. Roy's on form I see...
  2. They're shocking! The commentators usually give a ten minute tour guide to the foreign city during the game! That NI Colin guy's too busy cracking jokes and frankly doesn't seem to know what he's on about and Pat Nevin, well, looks out of his depth really. Sorry guys, always though Gray and Tyler were the best. Andy's explanations were brilliant. Jon Champion's a moron. I swear he spends most his time preparing a couple of lines of poetry with at least one word he's never heard of in it, ready to deliver at the end. He probably does it smug-faced. Looks a tit no doubt. Craig Burley by the way: demented, moronic and able to start an argument in an empty room. His career in microcosm really.
  3. IMO, NESV have done a great job since coming in, they've: Paid off the debt, saving tens of millions in debt every year Adopted an attitude of wanting to learn, very endearing Waited patiently to get rid of Roy when they wanted- they didn't let the fans run the club and dictate when he went Brought Mrs John Henry to the tv cameras What could they be criticised for?
  4. The Old Firm thread got me thinking. I know SPL's crap, but what a derby. It's one of my life goals to attend it (Rangers end only)- fierce atmosphere, everyone is divided and it's got so much history. But is it the best? Our 'friendly' derby with Everton's had some brilliant dramatic moments down the years, eg cup final '89 for example. There doesn't seem the same level of hatred. That sets it apart from other derbies but not sure if it makes it better or worse, rather just different. Roma/ Lazio seems a bit tasty as apparently are many of the South American derbies, eg Boca-River Plate. For those that don't know, Boca are essentially working class, River rather more higher class and this sustains the hatred like religion does in Scotland. Villa-Blues has a lot of 'class' issues in it too, Villa enjoying the wealth a little more. Which factors determine a special derby? Judging by them, which derby's best? Is there a clear winner or is it more which is best for you, eg to a Madridista, the Madrid derby?
  5. Love these stories. The money'll be great for the club too. Hopefully Barry Hearn'll whisk 'em off to Las Vegas anyway, still a famous result!
  6. I've been impressed with West Brom for most the season, until more recently. They have got some quality, particularly in midfield. It'll be amusing to watch him stifle all creativity, sap confidence and bypass the midfield altogether. Why the hell didn't Morrison and Vela start? Roy'll doubtless feel like a hero after that crap. Good point made earlier: given his atrocious away mindset, home points will have to be strong to give them any chance. Still, he pulled Fulham out of a deeper fire...
  7. West Brom playing too many long balls, normally they pass and move. Golly gee, what could've got into them? It'll be the second time facescratch will have lost at home to drop-zone Wolves.
  8. The more I think about it, the more I see that. We were awful. I didn't fancy us to get a point out of any game, even Wolves at home because we were so dreadful! A lot of the points we got were undeserved too, like at St Andrews. Thank God that's over!
  9. That's in the very top drawer. Brilliant!!!
  10. Crawley sponsored by The S*n. United just United. Best outcome for me: plethora of red cards and injuries for both players to destabilise both clubs' title aspirations. Screw 'em. Surprised this crap is shown to be honest. Why the hell would it be worth watching? Complacent attack against comparatively terrible defence. Agree with earlier poster, the FA Cup's lost all charm for me this year after we were cheated out of it. I'm winding myself up typing this crap.
  11. I have little or no respect for Chelsea. They've bought success through privately-invested money. I certainly don't like them- I think they're a little beneath us to be honest. I can't say I care enough to hate them, no one kicks a dead dog and I'd rather spend my energy elsewhere. United on the other hand are very worthy of respect. A real rival that's contributed significantly to our rivalry. Fergie's a ****. They're arrogant, winners through and through, riding out a perilous financial situation and consistently excellent. Is there a team more worthy of my hatred? I've yet to come across one. To quote Keegan, 'I'd love it if we beat them (on March 6), love it!'
  12. I'd move him on for 6m+ I think. At times, he has a game where you think 'Wow, this guy's important...', eg against Chelsea in Nov, but most the time, I'm bemoaning his terrible touch. I wonder if his workhorse reputation causes him problems, it seems to imply he's all hard work and no talent. Probably some truth in it. Amazing pass through to Torres against Chelsea in November. Meireles'll do it every game though because he's technically a lot better.
  13. Current Barcelona- phenomenal. I don't see how you can compare old teams, the game's evolved tactically and with sports science.
  14. I assure you, there's nothing at all rich about me. I would have to strive and save like everybody else if I attended the game. There's nothing special about me. Simply I cut my cloth accordingly. I'd love to go to a game like that and wouldn't be able to no matter the ticket price. Either I'm priced out (but hey, that's capitalism) or I can afford it but there's an incredible demand and practically no chance of getting a ticket. You only have to look at World Cup ticketing fiascos for evidence of this. I was a bit bullish last night. Nothing too wrong with that- ultimately they're just my opinions, they mayn't be representative of all but they're still mine and the early, defamatory responses were unfortunate *whine over*.
  15. I think I've put my points across very badly here. Let me rephrase them and add a layer or two: The average fan doesn't seem to be UEFA's priority. Whether or not it should be would depend on what your interests are, ie whether you're a paying fan or moneymaking uefa official. What I'm saying is while uefa has moneymaking priorities, it's understandable from their point of view that there'll be high ticket prices to maximise revenue. I think we'd all like to see lower ticket prices, more fans going, cheaper tv deals, etc. It would benefit most people as would a wage cap by reducing the need for significant revenues to be generated. Because I don't go every week, ticket prices aren't a burning issue to me. I undersand that's not the case for everybody. I've tried to get tickets at Anfield and missed out on at least 3 occasions this year and whilst the demand is there, prices won't be reduced. If you were a business man, would you?
  16. That, Sir, is a mouthwatering tirade, executed with violence. Unfortunately it's full of holes and begins to ramble. I'll pick it up... Here: You pay for the dish. Yes. And the motor. Yes. And the services. No. So you should have the dish and motor and NOT the services. I've no major problem with it but championing it feels a little cras. Fundamentally, if everyone did it, there would be grave repercussions. I get the impression you're unemployed because you seem to have no money and like to make excuses for why you should be better off/ have more etc. Who'd want to employ someone like that? I don't think I've mentioned my employment, I certainly don't earn much money and have to think carefully before I buy things. If I wanted a CL ticket, I'd have to save awhile. You've been trolling? Tell Dirk to save his tenner! He doesn't sound fussy.
  17. It's perfectly simple: living further away, I attend less games and so the financial burden becomes both less regular and less frequent. Naturally, this will affect the degree to which it irritates me. My heart's not in it? Some futile, ill-thought-out campaign on a forum? Actually: I disagree with the outrage towards the price. Objectively, you have to say: 'Yeah, that makes sense'. And to address your other point, yes, football has changed. And is still changing. What with ludicrous amounts of money in the game and some half-arsed financial fair play plans, television rights lawsuits and disgruntled 'real-can't be arsed to pay to follow the team-fans', it guarantees a hotbed of unrest, generating movement and over a period of time, movement substantial enough to term it 'change'. Now shut up and watch what's left of this tripe. Dear me. Similar performance to games in Utrecht and Napoli by the way, with similar players. Could it be a bigger pwoblem than Woy?
  18. It's worth what people are willing to pay for it- simple as that. You may feel it is too expensive, we can all have our own markers on where that point is, however if enough people are willing to pay that much for it, it becomes a good decision. Essentially, we have two variables, let's be traditional an call them x and y. Now, let x= ticket price Let y= attendance Xy= money generated We are searching for the optimum result for xy and this has to be conjecture. At £176, you'd have to fill around one quarter of the seats £38 tickets would fill. If we agree the stadium will sell out at £38, surely we can predict it'll be more than one quarter full at £176. Thus, £176 is closer to the optimum result. Of course, things are complicated further by a range of ticket prices, however adding a few well placed brackets and addition signs into place should sort that out. I'm here to explore it if you wish.
  19. Like it or not, football's changing. Personally, I don't mind too much. Then again, I live 80 miles from Liverpool, couldn't make midweek games and hence have no designs on a season ticket or such like. I suppose if I attended every game, I'd feel differently somewhat.
  20. Au contraire numbnuts, I work during the day and spend accordingly. You follow a sport, eh? Tell me, what the hell does that mean?
  21. Rep this tit as well please. Tell me, what's thicker than following a crowd? I bet you get your opinions from watching chat shows, don't you? Probably with WrongIslander during the day- making excuses over a cuppa.
  22. Don't you understand? It's simple: if you want it, you pay for it. Probably prices are heightened by freeloading skanks, much in the same way that shoplifters effectively raise the prices to compensate for stockloss. In effect, you're harming the billpayer as much as the people you criticise. Hypocritical much? Your unemployment point is telling. If you're unemployed, it's due to a political atrocity, blah, blah, blah. Stop making excuses! If you're long term unemployed- it is absolutely your fault, not the government's! Making excuses seems a feature of your rhetoric this evening. Time to grow up a bit, pay your way in life and make a positive contribution (rather than pretending to whilst servicing your own retarded agenda).
  23. Abortion, eh? So terrible, you've nothing to counter it with? You sir are... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. A sheep! Some tosser rep him please, I assume it's what he's looking for. By the way, Randy Marsh- were you conceived on a camping trip???
  24. Seriously, it's poor form. Why should you have for free what other people pay for? And then you champion it as if it's something to be proud of! And then moan about ticket prices! Are you actually willing to pay for anything or looking to bum your way through life? Tell me, are you employed presently?
