  1. You're absolutely right mate. Despite the joys of today I really don't have a grip and I see stuff that no-one else appears to see. If you and others on this board don't understand the wider implications there's no point in me trying to explain. Last post time I think. Hasta la vista .
  2. It may have been said (no time to read the whole thread) but if you pitched that as a film plot you'd have been laughed out of the room. The ending alone beggars belief. Gerrard missing a penalty then his cousin missing a penalty .....
  3. Oh dear, am I really that old? If none of you can see that what was said was very wrong then I'm obviously not one of you. Just because it's supposed to be "a joke" doesn't excuse it. It's so fucking wrong and I still don't believe none of you see it. Let's make jokes about Jews or gas ovens perhaps. It's OK it's a fucking joke joke ain't it? Get real guys, this is a disgrace. I give up. I really do.
  4. I've listened to FT quite a bit and they often sail close to the wind but I think she overstepped the mark. She might well have been joking but I didn't find it funny or clever at all. It was a cheap nasty shot. As long we have people like that on the radio perpetuating the same old shit then nothing's going to change. Sorry, but I found it offensive and unnecessary.
  5. Just heard some woman on 5 live on Fighting Talk saying Luis Suarez should have his own boo boys that follow him around. This was in response to a question of where the boo boys should go this weekend as the national anthems are not being sung at Wembley because of the boo boys. Fucking disgraceful, I guess she thought it was funny. I didn't. I must have lost me sense of humour. We don't need the fucking media bringing all this up again and encouraging the boo boys. I've just emailed them to say what I think as I am fucking seething at the moment.
  6. I know I'm a pain but I really don't think this is cut and dried. Cardiff are riding high in the Championship and are a difficult team to beat. It is so important that we go into this game with the right attitude (I still have nightmares about Wimbledon) and I really hope that the team is not treating it as lightly as some posters seem to be. I also hope I'm very wrong and you can tell me I'm a cunt on Sunday evening. Superstitiously yours.....
  7. Thanks chaps. Interesting responses. The comments about the lower angles meaning faster and more unsettling camera work fits in with my view that you miss the bigger picture. I've watched professional games from what is effectively the touchline and never really got any sense of how the game was going as I couldn't see the movement off the ball or how patterns were developing (I'm always amazed that managers on the touchline can see that). What I did see however was the speed, power and skill of most players at the top level. In the same way for me, watching a game where the camera is low I lose that sense of movement but I don't really appreciate the skill of the players as they are still too far away and TV doesn't convey the physicality very well.
  8. I watched all 3 cup ties this afternoon. In the Crawley and Stevenage ties the games looked a little like pub kickabouts to a certain extent and players (like Bale) looked decidedly ordinary. The Liverpool game had dozens of camera angles and a relatively high view of the pitch and suddenly these guys (even Brighton) looked like superstars in comparison. So my question is .. does anyone else think that we are somehow being spoiled by how we view football on TV or is it just me? My guess is that most people only see matches on TV and even though I live in Brighton it's not easy getting a ticket and I only go on rare occasions. I wonder if the TV only audience are getting some kind of slanted view of what real football is like when a low camera angle seems to reduce "good" players to merely average (there is of course the possibility that on the day they really were average but that's not my perception) I'm not sure I'm expressing it very well (maybe that last celebratory pint was not such a good idea). Hopefully someone can come along and do a better job.
  9. Loved it :) Knowing Brighton's ability to put one over on better teams I was concerned at the start of the 2nd half but the lads did good (as some half literate summariser might have said). 3 comedy goals but a couple of classics as well . Fuck off to all those criticising the team. We did good, and now let's maintain that momentum for Cardiff (who won't be easy) and the rest of the season.
  10. Brighton are not going to be easy to beat (ask Newcastle and also look how we struggled in the 2nd half against them in the league cup). They hold the ball well and try to play football but are also very good at shutting down opposing teams. I've seen them a few times this season (I live in Brighton!) and although they aren't always the most attractive side they work hard for each other and could make life very difficult. We must not think this is a done deal as Brighton are capable of an upset. They're also capable of falling apart so let's hope it's the latter Brighton that turn up on Sunday.
  11. And another welcome and thanks for the post. I'll pretty much echo what Jennings said above. I'm deeply disappointed with the LFC management but they are driven by business not football. It's all turned to shit at the moment but I believe we will rise above it again. I look forward to the point in the future when Luis and Kenny can give their version.
