Real Madrid centerback Pepe was shown the red card no fewer than three times as his side edged Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With the scores level at 2-2, Pepe hauled down Geta's Javier Casquero in the box, earning a second booking. Then the defender also twice kicked out at the supine midfielder, before apparently stamping on him.
The furious stopper had to be escorted off the pitch by goalkeeper Iker Casillas amidst ugly scenes that also saw a small battle break out at full time, largely involving the Azulones defender Daniel 'Cata' Diaz.
The Madrid side went on to win the match after Iker Casillas saved the weak penalty and Gonzalo Higuain netted a last-second winner for the ten-man Blancos, but with Pepe now likely to miss three games at the absolute minimum, coach Juande Ramos has a defensive headache ahead of him.
