  1. Show some compassion you heartless bastard; it’s not everyday somebody loses a Saint, and there is a lot more grieving to do!
  2. It was a question of who was less shit, rather than who was outstanding. Reina had no chance for the goals, and didn't drop any obvious clangers, so on that basis it could be argued that he "had a good game".
  3. Says the man who keeps a candle permanently alight, wears black every day, and has resolved never to see another man, all because we got rid of Alonso. You were a hop, skip and a jump away from threatening to turn yourself into a human fireball, like a crazed asylum seeker that has just had their application to stay turned down.
  4. Basco’s Boys are strangely quiet on that, preferring instead to engage in the old it-wasn’t-him-it-was-a-pesky-sub-editor routine. Shortly the apologists will be claiming that Bascombe doesn’t write anything at all in the NOTW as they are just paying him for the use of his name. It will certainly make an interesting entry on his CV: 2007 - Present: Worked as a nom de plume at the News of the World. :D
  5. Hey Count, would a ‘superb journalist’ just sit idly by and allow his name to be attached to an article he had nothing to do with? Also, I’ve got the impression from some of your earlier contributions that you have been unimpressed with our current custodians; are you now ‘giving them some slack’ on the back of the ‘record shirt sponsorship deal’, ‘drive for a record stadium sponsorship deal’, and ‘ambitious spending plans for the next five years’, amongst other things?
  6. My query wasn't about me, but in response to your assertion that Bascombe would want respect from fans that expect fairness and accuracy: Do you think Bascombe can legitimately expect respect from people who are placed in the position of having to second guess which parts of an article are his work, and which parts aren’t?
  7. Do you think the fans that expect fairness and accuracy would expect to have to second guess which parts of a ‘Bascombe article’ were written by Bascombe, and which parts were written by somebody else?
  8. "Give the owners some slack", "£240 million drive for new stadium sponsorship", and now this bollocks about the Club's 'ambitious' budgeting, amongst various bollocks, Bascombe may aswell be wearing a mini skirt and shaking a pair of pom poms....Give us a Y, Y, Give us an A, A, Give us an N, N, Give us a K, K, Give us an S, S, and what have you got? A sycophantic short-arsed hack :D
  9. I don't think it's a case of not giving a fuck; I'd say it was more to do with nothing 'serious' happening yet that can't be explained away. If people in the ground didn't give a fuck, they wouldn't be there supporting the team. At this point it seems more like a 'it won't happen to me/us' attitude. If something catastrophic happened, like having to sell Torres to keep the bank happy, then that would focus a lot more minds.
  10. That’s hardly going to encourage capable people to come in and buy the Club, is it?.......Come and buy our Club, and have the privilege of a few dozen ‘union men’ watching over your every step to ‘ensure things are going right’ or there will be trouble. What does 'going right' mean in the context of 'ensure everything is going right'?
  11. I think fan ownership would end up being absolute carnage, and way worse than what we’ve currently got. It’s basically idealistic tosh. Imagine for an instant that we had no issues with Ownership, and SOS was still formed with those aims - how many people do you think would sign-up? SOS is basically using dissatisfaction with the Owners to bolster its membership in order to claim some sort of legitimacy for its other pet projects.
  12. That’s a bit disingenuous really, as SOS is only interested in its members, so the bits in bold should be replaced with: “members of SOS”. The whole piece reads like the spiel from some airy-fairy government quango, though.
  13. It is one thing to be of the apposite calibre to ‘bat’ against Purslow, it’s another thing altogether to be able to carry public sentiment. The Hillsborough connection notwithstanding, I don’t think a Tory politician would be able to galvanise public opinion, given the number of we’re-still-fighting-Thatcher types that are out and about.
  14. What if I’m a member that has been recruited from Norway, Ireland or America via a few mouse clicks and an electronic funds transfer? I can’t get along to any mass meetings and when I send an email of my thoughts I get a less than helpful reply because the deputy assistant vice chairman of the email answering sub-committee, overseas division, is busy with her kids?
  15. By the same token, shouldn't 'the union' restrict all its requests for volunteers for its various schemes, to the membership mailing list and SOS website, instead of trawling around LFC boards on the cadge?
  16. It's exactly the same with the Bitters and their proposed move to Kirkby; the Echo is just towing the party line to keep its business deals sweet. It's a joke that a newspaper is beholden to the business interests of third parties.
  17. I take it this is for public consumption, and not just for members? Some members are whining that SOS shouldn't be divulging stuff to the general public.
