  1. That logic is so flawed is unbelievable. So because a player has limited experience and great talent, we should not sign them as back up because of their lack of said experience?? In that case all of our young transgers we have made this summer are destined, in your logic, to fail because they are reserves. Eventually, talented players will become better as they gain experience and force their way into the first team. Such is the wayof things today.
  2. I have been told that I take things too seriously :P If it is sacrasm then I did not see it, the feeling I got after I went through the entire thread was that people were already condeming him for being too young, too cheap, unknown and French. So I thought that maybe if I made things clear, that being cheap, young, unknown and French is by no means a disadvantage for an upcoming foward/winger.
  3. Lets go through my own list of unknown players who have come up from the academy or from foreign transfers are now in the first team or were in the past: Hyppia, Agger, Skertel, Gerrard, Kuyt, Babbel, Arbeloa, Reina just to name some. This myth that if a player is cheap is crap is a load of shite. The kid looks like a decent player who with the right enviroment and manager can flourish into someting good. He has not even kicked a ball yet for the club and already most of you are going on about him being shite. :wow: This has got to stop. Sure the stats are few and far between but if Liverpool saw something in him to bring him then we should have faith in their knowledge and hope for the best. I dont think he will replace Nemeth but I think his addition will provide Rafa with an added option in attack as he has proven he can start in the first team. Or what if Rafa is looking for a strike partner for Nemeth in the reserves and then bring them both on as alternitives? Just cool your heels guys and lets see what the kid is made of........... ;)
  4. I think Rafa is one of the best managers we have had for a while. He inhereted a very average squad and turned it into a team of winners. I dont I have any gripe about Benitez handlings so far, as long as he lands Keane and Barry I think Rafa can go down a legend considering what he was put through.
  5. I agree with the majority of the report but I must asked why is above bolded word being thrown about again?? I mean I never said at the start of the thread to judge the squad, the financial state or judge where the other teams postion will be in realtion to us. No. I said provide an assement of the current squad with its new possible transfers (Dossena, Degen, Barry and Keane) and how much of a title challange will they provide! Judging a team that has not yet played together is not assesing.
  6. Death is not beyond us all...we are all equal and subject to the cold hands that pullls away from this life. My thoughts are with her family for their loss.
  7. Dont be pessimistic like that. Forget the current problems that are not football related. Forget the financial state of the team, forget the state of affairs of the owners, look at the squad and tell me what you think they are capable of including the would be tranfers.........
  8. I like to think that you have a point but I dont think that beating our record amount of points is enough to make us title contenders. We need to go up and beyond that total, enough not to beat our record number but also to beat the total number of Arsenal, Chealse and United. We got to think outside the box and even converting draws to wins is still not enough. We need to attack more, defend dead ball situations better and need more movement on the flanks. Its the finner details that need to be looked at!
  9. Thats why I said asessment. The current feel in the club is that if Keane and Barry sign on then the team has got what it takes to go all the way. I dont think I can disagree with that statement and with a little bit of luck, who knows??
  10. Okay assement time...... Lets take into account the form of the past two seasons, the chaotic financial state of the club, the transfers out and in and we left with nothing more than hope. Hope that at finally long last Liverpool can actually challange for the title and not just sit and big talk it all the way to May. The time has come where now is the season of great things or just another failed attempt at the title. As it was, the sqaud could have achieved much more than it actually did last season....some of you put the failure down to the rotation policy of the manager in the first half of the season, whilst others just put it down to the lack of quality. My opinion is simply put, we were very unlucky at times at this started at the beggining of the seasons with that harsh penalty claim against Chealse and then that own goal again against Chealse in the CHL. These key moments contributed greatly to what happend in the season. Now we are at a point where Benitez in my view has made the right transfer choices in order to make his squad even more competitive for the next season. I expect Livepool to be much more closer to United and Chealse, if not closer then better than them. Such is my hope for the next season and whilst there was nothing wrong with the squad last season.....with the new transers in Keane, Barry, Dossena and Degen, I expect Liverpool to achieve great things under Benitez this year.
  11. Danny Murhpy...... A player of small talent, good work rate, average technique but played with his heart. You could see it on the field every time he played. He could not be compared to the others but he gave it his all, I was so glad Fulham stayed up and one of the reasons was down to Murphy. We need more players with his mentality....
  12. Here is where we at the minute: Keane has been booked for a medical in Melwood on Thursday, so one would assume the deal is going through, barely at snails pace. The excuse they gave however was that thats the day the medic comes back from Swiss. Villa are awaiting for us to make a make or break last bid for Barry, allegedly being around the 18million mark. But because the Alonso transfer stalled, Keane is now the priority target until the Alonso transfer funds the Barry transfer. Its a stranger situation really.
  13. The whole point of the poll is to make a choise between the two wingers. None is not a viable option as Rafa is going to sell both or either of them to raise money for other transfers. I do agree with the voters so far, it seems like which way you swing it, Yossi is a much better player.
  14. ........is the type of situation Levy was talking about. If Crystal Palace started ranting about it, everyone would agree with them. Because however we are talking about a low profile player, no one cares......
  15. Who sould go and why?? Personally Yossi is stronger, faster, better deliver good eye for goal. Pennant, although he has got some talent, not good enough for Liverpool.......
  16. Thats my point......if Spurs did not tap anyone then it would be have been great for a club to go by the book. On the other hand is no one tapped up anyone, I dont transfers would happen as much. So in the end, although Levys attack had genuine concern, it will bear no fruit if Keane and Berba go.
  17. Be warned I am going to defend the guy a bit here but keep an open mind of what I am about to say.... This has been going on for a while now, tapping up a player you are interested in so that you can his signature. The top 4 of the PL have been in some cases bullying the rest of the field and getting exactly who they want in return. Even at international level, we see it all the time, eg United and owen hagreeves being a prime example. So the rest of the them just take it cause a) they need the money and b) cant stop the deal from being very lucrative for the player. No one steps up, and thats what Levy did. He cant help it, but at least he made himself heard where he made me realise that no matter who does it, in which manner they do it, tapping up players is wrong even if you are a top club. In that sense I look at the "attack" and think that maybe the guy has a point. Thinking like a Spurs fan, it would give me some sort of reprieve that at least someone is shouting about it whilst others sit back and wait for the cash. In the end Spurs are losing their two best players and no one is doing anything about it. Looking at that statement he then goes on to say that unsettling a player is bad for moral, which means that even though he wants to keep them, eventually they will be sold. So dont look at it at Levy and think the guy is nuts, he is just mad and whilst the rest are doing fuck all, he has stepped up and made his voice heard for the right reasons...............................for once
  18. Making one is okay, stating that bid will be accepted and the player will be a united player by the end of the week is unsettling a player, thus he is indirectly trying to unsettle the player out of his contract. Benitez on the other hand has just stated his interest in Keane, just a head turner not that he has made a bid not that he will be a Liverpool player at the end of the week but has just shown interest. See the difference......
  19. I just realised that Benitez trades players that are similar or alike. I think Yossi is like a more consistent Luis Garcia. I would be sad to see him go aas I think he is one of those that can be used anywhere on the wing or as an attacking foward, and after his goal lob I really do think he is a complete foward. Mind you he does not create much as he should but he is a good outlet for the squad.
  20. I dont know.....if Levy pushes it he might Mancs fined to the fullest. I think Liverpool will get away with it, but i do think that Ferguson will get the heavier fine......
  21. They got fined 300,000 if I remember correctly but that was after the transfer had gone through. If they had been on Chelsea from the start it might have been more but a fine is a fine.
  22. If Alonso does not go, we dont have the money to get Barry. Simply put Barry will be replacing Alonso and if there is no money left then I cant see him coming. I wont be heartbroken if we kept Alonso but I wanted to see Barry ina Liverpool shirt though.
  23. P.S: Also just found out that Keane has been scheduled in for a medical on Thursday when the Liverpool medic returns from Switzerland.
  24. Well I kinda understand the frustration, but Benitez has promised the fans something big and soon.
