  1. It's just simplistic football manager drivel to say such and such is a better player when they've yet to even play for us or we've seen how they fit into out system. Xabi is a nice passer of the ball but he's been woefully inconsistant for a good couple of seasons, and while he might have a touch better passing range, I'd prefer the other attributes that Barry would give us, like mobility, excellent delivery on set pieces and goals. If not Barry then someone else.
  2. I must be doing something right as you're pretty clueless.
  3. Good job he's no longer a left back then.
  4. How can Barry be average at best? I despair sometimes.
  5. From Oliver Kay's new piece. "Benítez suggested after his team's defeat at Stamford Bridge that “just one signing could make a massive difference” to Liverpool, but once again a significant turnover of players is expected. He already has agreed a deal to sign Philipp Degen, the Switzerland right back, on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund and has made moves to sign Fernando Amorebieta, the 23-year-old central defender, from Athletic Bilbao. Those would be relatively minor deals, but Benítez will pursue more ambitious targets, including Gareth Barry, the Aston Villa and England midfield player, and at least one winger and striker as well as the usual smattering of talented teenagers"
  6. Only played for a couple of seasons and unlikely to hold any great affection for the club. I think he's a Crystal Palace fan at heart. Or maybe he's just ultra critical because of the high standards he was accustomed to when he was here, especially in terms of the way we pass and move the ball. In fairness, if you sat and watched the match with me and my famiily you'd forget that we were Reds at times.
  7. He's probably on the list of names but it's whether we can afford him at 12 million odd when we need to secure other priority targets.
  8. If we're going to stick with this system, I'd sell him and bring in a more dynamic midfielder, who aswell as dictating the tempo, can get get around the pitch and score goals. I know Rafa wants two holding central midfielders, but Alonso and Masch together is so negative and uncreative as both tend to sit so deep.
  9. Forget the games against United, it's the draws against poor sides that killed us. If you win the majority of those you'll be right up there. The games against your main rivals can always go either way and unless you're going head to head, won't have much of an impact on a title challenge. It's all about money now and we need to spend big again I feel to catch up as well as stay clear of the likes of Spurs, Villa and City, who will all be spending big themselves. We need at least two good full backs and a top class wide player, but do we have the money to get the required quality.
  10. Souey isn't shy of slagging us off on there either. Couldn't believe how biased the coverage was in favour of Chelsea last night. Keys couldn't wait to get the subject back off us and onto them. He really despises us that hairy bastard.
  11. Anyone think there's something in the Arsenal director resigning today?
  12. Is there a case for wanting the mancs to win? They are at least a football club, albeit a disgusting one, with some history in the comp. And there's the chance that Fergie could decide to retire if he wins it, leaving them with an uncertain future. Do we really want a smalltime club like Chelsea winning that amazing trophy and putting their name among the greats? At least in the league we can just put it down to money, but once they win the CL they rise to a whole new level. Maybe I'm just having a dark moment.
  13. That could potentially take months, if not years. Great. He holds all the cards, and the only way DIC can force him out is by digging deep.
  14. I hope he croaks it on air as he's slating Rafa for yet another great European adventure.
  15. Jamie was at fault for none of the goals and was his usual imperious self.
  16. What an idiot this man he is, he just typifies how out of touch Uefa are with the common fan. When probed today about why they chose the most expensive city in the world to host a CL final, and the lack of hotel rooms on the night, he said "fans should arrive in the morning and leave after the game, cutting out the need for a hotel room" He also said he expects no problems with the fans over there as, and I quote, "we've never had any problems with United fans' in Europe before"
  17. He's got an image to uphold.
  18. Which totally contradicts your rantings about the managers domestic record. Balmpot.
  19. All the plazzy insiders chirping up again leads me to believe that nothing will happen. Hicks is hiring a new PR firm apparently.
  20. You're an idiot. Probably some bitter Blue.
  21. The same Peter Robinson who was responsible for the joint manager debacle and didn't leave until 1998, 6 whole years after the start of the football boom? The old 'Liverpool Way' died a long time ago. It's time to create a new one or get the fuck out.
  22. Cockney? I'm from South Liverpool, and I highly doubt you've been to more games than me considering I had a season ticket for going on 30 years and you're just some unruly teenage dickhead, and I'd glady say it your face. Regardless, going to more games doesn't give you the right to abuse players who have given a lot to the club.
  23. Have to laugh at some thick internet forum mug questioning the tactics of one of the best coaches around. Rafa is a legend, you're a twat.
