  1. when you win, you can make up your own rules.... you are right, of course. i've been reading quite a few books on the waffen ss of late (kurt meyer in particular). they are largely demonised, but the atrocities were not all one-sided. kurt's book is a quite refreshingly frank and brutal assessment of the war.
  2. 1.) kuyt 2.) riera 3.) carragher* * i'm going to say something controversial / stupid and say that i thought agger played well despite the one obvious moment
  3. dossena always reminds me of a badger....
  4. i'm predicting agger will take his big opportunity in style. 3-1 keane, agger, gerrard
  5. i'd just like to say that alan sex can make any thread better.....i love the 'brokeback mountain' one with spock and kirk. i had a job this summer designing interiors of spaceships for a new sci-fi show coming out next year called 'virtuality' (same guy that did battlestar gallactica). designing spaceships IS cool, but i still don't care much for star trek, or sci-fi in general. if there is supposed to be a new show based on a more youthful version of the original characters, why does their ship look so much more modern and advanced ?
  6. here are a couple of examples from the texas death row web page. they provide all the details for offenders on death row (past and present). it makes for shocking reading...... Offender Information - Holbert, Brittany Holberg robbed and murdered an 80 year old white male in his home. The victim was struck with a hammer and stabbed nearly 60 times. The weapons used were: a paring knife, a butcher knife, a grapefruit knife, and a fork. A lamp pole had been shoved more than 5 inches down the victim's throat. Offender Information - William Murray i'll let you read the details, but this was the latest (and most deserving) inmate to be executed
  7. you know - if you like that story, you'll love this link..... texas department of justice (death row) Death Row Home Page complete history of all offenders on death row (does not make for nice reading) i used to love looking at the last meal requests (since removed). the ones who regret their actions usually order something simple. the really nasty ones order 6 litres of ice cream and 50 doughnuts. you can still see their vital stats and their last statements.
  8. LUCASVILLE, Ohio — Ohio executed a 5-foot-7, 267-pound double murderer on Tuesday who argued his obesity made death by lethal injection inhumane. Richard Cooey, 41, died at 10:28 a.m. at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, said Jim Gravelle, a spokesman with state attorney general's office. There were no immediate reports of difficulties finding suitable veins to deliver the deadly chemicals, a problem that has delayed previous executions in the state. Mr. Cooey's lawyers had argued that his weight problem would make it difficult for prison staff to access a vein. A prisons spokeswoman said Mr. Cooey received a pre-execution exam early Tuesday and was cleared. Mr. Cooey, who killed two University of Akron students in 1986, walked into the death chamber at 10:15 a.m. wearing gray pants and was strapped onto the gurney. “You (expletive) haven't paid any attention to anything I've said in the last 22 1/2 years, why would anyone pay any attention to anything I've had to say now,” Mr. Cooey said looking at the ceiling. He made no other comment. Mr. Cooey tapped the fingers of his left hand several times before he died and his face took on a purple shade. Six family members of one of his victims watched the execution. Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said the family was disappointed that Mr. Cooey was vulgar and hateful at the end. He was the first inmate executed in Ohio in more than a year, and the state's first since the end of the unofficial moratorium on executions that began last year while the U.S. Supreme Court reviewed Kentucky's lethal injection procedure. Mr. Cooey made an earlier trip to the death house. But a U.S. District Court judge intervened hours before his scheduled execution in July 2003 when the Ohio Public Defender's office said it needed more time to assess the case after an appeals court dismissed his previous attorneys for inadequate representation. Mr. Cooey and a co-defendant were convicted in the sexual assaults and slayings of University of Akron students Dawn McCreery, 20, and Wendy Offredo, 21, in September 1986. His co-defendant was 17 and was sentenced to life in prison because of his age. The state has now executed 27 inmates since 1999, when Ohio renewed executions after more than three decades.
  9. Turkey does have the makings of a natural sedative in it, an amino acid called tryptophan. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, meaning that the body can't manufacture it. The body has to get tryptophan and other essential amino acids from food. Tryptophan helps the body produce the B-vitamin niacin, which, in turn, helps the body produce serotonin, a remarkable chemical that acts as a calming agent in the brain and plays a key role in sleep. If you eat a lot of turkey, your body would produce more serotonin and you would feel calm and want a nap.
  10. it's thanksgiving day in canada (not the same as america) it's definitely a good holiday - lots of leftover turkey sandwiches in my immediate future.
  11. repped for buying local and eating local. sounds delicious...
  12. alan - since you're a friend, is it okay to say that i'm a little disappointed that a thread with the title "young female smelling of sweat" didn't result in your contribution being more NSFW ?
  13. that's so sad, it's funny...or is it a parody ? you never can tell with americans. i like how they include his middle name 'hussein' wasn't there another guy with that same name....?
  14. sometimes it's the simple solutions that are the best.... repped.
  15. is that one still rondeco's avatar ? very very nice... they were the first three images under 'sweaty girls' google search
  16. that's very impressive, but i already have my favorite egg cup and spoon (and knife too). you may have also triggered an important factor in my favorite food - the fact that you can dress it up and present it in such a fashion.....try that with scrambled eggs or pizza.
  17. mmmmmm.........sheperds pie. with whipped mashed potatoes on top, of course ? haven't had one in decades, but i do remember my mum made it all the time. that is definitely good comfort food and fed an army around our house.
  18. not to discourage open debate and free speech as such, but i was actually wondering more about other individuals 'comfort' foods, rather than their favorite choice in eggs. unless everyone agrees that eggs are the best food for improving their general outlook on life ?
  19. too much work, too much mess. a soft boiled egg is the purest expression of embryonic avian being (and eating)
