  1. Netherlands not as good as the 2010 side. I suspect the manager's lack of tactical fluidity had something to do with that, but who knows. The final is really tough to predict. Germany were playing a Championship level side in Brazil, and haven't exactly impressed for much of he tournament. Argentina too - nothing special, not the sort of team which would go far at club level, but you don't have to be a Champions League calibre side to win a World Cup. I'm expecting a dour affair on Sunday.
  2. Moyes might be just the man for the Netherlands job. Essentially identical footballing philosophy to the current incumbent, lots of average players amenable to his rigid drills; it'll be like going home to Goodison.
  3. He probably is if he got knocked out. Needs to be replaced immediately.
  4. Well, he wouldn't necessarily be the 'main man' here. I'm not suggesting that he'd be top of my list, but it's not outside the realms of possibility that he might flourish with Sturridge and Sterling.
  5. If we're in the midst of our best ever start to a Premier League season come December, I hope the board doesn't shit the bed and replace Rodgers with Sherwood after a couple of heavy defeats.
  6. Sanchez will fit in perfectly at Arsenal. Shame, he's a good player in the right circumstances. Wenger's steadfast refusal to address their major deficiencies is brilliant.
  7. If you buy the Lord of the Rings trilogy in South America, I think you'll find what you're looking for.
  8. Just woke up to see the score. Hilarious. Funny as it is, however, I can't help but feel a pang of regret that it didn't end this way in the final at the hands of Argentina. Oh, the hilarity that could have been.
  9. Leon Brittan has been interviewed by police investigating an historical rape.
  10. Holland vs Argentina It's basically a Sunderland vs Hull match with Messi.
  11. It's astonishing that Krul hasn't been sent off. I'm not sure there's any point in referees.
  12. Holland are a mid table Premier League side at best, so I'm not surprised to see hen being given a run for their money by a side so full of heart as Costa Rica. I hope Costa Rica win, but underdogs seldom do well on penalties.
  13. Wait for Van Gaal to be hailed as a maverick genius if Krul saves a scuffed spot-kick.
  14. Apart from when he did say something to that effect. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/hay-festival/10094749/Id-probably-watch-child-porn-admits-former-Crimewatch-presenter-Nick-Ross.html
  15. Messi + Messi's wages & 20m. Start taking shit in return, Brendan.
  16. Argentina vs Belgium / USA is a toss up. None of the sides in this competition would reach the CL semis.
  17. Under the circumstances, I think Sanchez should sack his agent and hire Pere Guardiola.
  18. I've avoided the punditry completely over the course of this World Cup. How does Chiles view Suarez? I'm imagining "roughly on par with John Wayne Gacy" but perhaps that's just my usual cynicism creeping through.
  19. I wonder if Galatasaray are just trying to save face so that their fans aren't too up in arms when Moyes is unveiled as their new boss. It's the sort of move Everton might pull, so perhaps Moyes has given them the blueprint.
  20. While this is true, it's really hammered home the fact that he won't be coming back. We should still back him to the hilt and do what we can to ensure that the ban is reduced to something reasonable, but there's too much water under the bridge now.
  21. I've read another version of that which states he'll be meeting Liverpool lawyers in Barcelona to discuss the appeal against the ban, not to secure a transfer. Why it's in Barcelona I don't have a clue, but perhaps there's something beyond the obvious that I'm missing.
