  1. Liverpool swoop for Eagles wonderkids Published 23:00 16/03/11 By John Percy Kenny Dalglish is lining up a double swoop on Crystal Palace for wonderkids Wilfried Zaha and Jon Williams. Liverpool boss Dalglish will target the two teenagers in the summer as part of a bid to harvest the best young talent at Anfield. Palace striker Zaha was recently called up to the England under-19 squad and has been regularly watched by Liverpool's network of scouts in his first full season. The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters outside the Premier League and is also admired by Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle. Wales under-21 international Williams is another kid to roll off the Selhurst Park production line and Dalglish is already an admirer. Williams, 17, is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Eagles but his reputation has soared after impressing for the reserves. Liverpool are keen to build a team for the future and are preparing to pounce at the end of the season. 2. McParland said that he had been aware of Connor Thomas and been watching him for a long time before we signed him on loan. You may be right about what say he has, but he probably had an input.
  3. Is Sama always this bad with his passing and this error prone?
  4. What's your gut feeling on Ince, good enough to have a career as LFC squad/PL player or not?
  5. Players know that PL is the place to be. Only Barca and Real could entice players like Sanchez and Hazard, apart from PL clubs. Can't see Barca going for either Sanchez or Hazard. Hazard has been linked with Real, although I haven't seen much of R Madrid, unless he is going to take someone else's spot, I think they've been quite happy with De Maria and Ozil, especially the latter. As for PL clubs, Man City have got more money than anyone else, but at the moment, they have no real structure or direction with their squad building. Players going to them will only go for the money, so missing out on players like that, regardless of quality, is no great loss for us. Chelsea have no stability. Any player who has his head screwed on will avoid them for their long term good. Arsenal just don't spend big. We are in a good financial position, especially without the hefty debt of before; and FSG do have money, and if you look at their record with the Redsox, especially in recent months, they are prepared to spend. Even though they may spend some money in the summer, with their level of debt, I don't think Man U can go toe-to-toe with us. We need to remember that even under H&G we were generating good revenue, but it went towards servicing the debt. We no longer have this burden. We don't have the backing of Man City, but are still a wealthy club, will always have a huge pull through our name, combined with owners with ambition and a clear direction. Unless they've already got a preference for personal reasons, I'd fancy our chances of getting either Hazard or Sanchez over any PL club.
  6. Dave, do you think as he'd be 18 by the time next season comes around, Andre Wisdom should/will be given some game time for the first team, whichever competition that may be?
  7. They have a clever manager in the Romanian Mircea Lucescu. I'm really looking forward to seeing Kenny pitting his wits tactically against top teams and managers in the CL, with a squad of his choice. We'd have to wait the season after next, but it will be the first time we'd be able to see him do this as LFC manager in Europe's premier competition.
  8. I think Ferguson cites the age of 18-19 too when you can start to tell if a player will make it. On a different issue altogether, Wenger says that if a player doesn't have technique by the age of 13, then he'll never have technique.
  9. Romelu Lukaku is still only 17. He's been touted as the hottest young talent in Europe for a couple of years now.
  10. Who's the English lad at Real Madrid then and what position does he play? According to Wiki, this Dier lad is on loan to Everton from Sporting Lisbon.
  11. With how big an asset John Barnes was (I know talent like that are hard to come by) and the success Kenny had with wingers at Blackburn, I'm really hoping that he pursues a couple of wingers in the summer. If he plays 4-3-3, ideally it would be nice to have a wide man with pace like Hazard/Sanchez/Young as a starter and a Charles Nzogbia or Matt Jarvis for the squad and if he changes formation; combined with a young up and coming winger like Antoine Griezmann or Xherdan Shaqiri. This would give us a lot of options on the flanks, without breaking the bank, and, hopefully, as would be the case otherwise with bigger names, upsetting too many people who would expect to start all the time.
  12. Man Utd can definitely do with a bit of muscle in CM, so a move like that won't come as a surprise. First time I saw him was against England too and he did look impressive - good positioning, simple passing and provided a good shield. He's unspectacular, but accomplished. Seems in the Makelele mold. He'd be an asset whoever gets him. On Moussa Sissoko, it was promising to hear from him that we'd already tried to sign him. It'd be good to have a bit of bite and aggression back in CM.
  13. Most definitely. I think this is also the case with Spain and Italy and it is easier for them to get hold of young talent from S America as a result.
  14. Just for fun and not 16 yr olds, Barcelona's 17 yr old Left Winger (I think he can play in a variety of positions) Gerard Deulofeu was controversially linked with PL clubs a few years ago. River Plates 18 yr old L Winger Erik Lamela was courted by Barcelona when he was only 12 yrs old. AC Milan have heavily scouted him in recent months. Feyernoord's 18 yr old striker Luke Kastaignos has already established himself and apparently set to sign for I Milan in the summer. 17 yr old Argentinian second striker Juan Manuel Iturbe. Set to join FC Porto in the summer.
  15. We've been linked with R Madrid's Sergio Canales, as he hasn't got much game time with them since moving. The link is probably a bit far fetched and I know that Man U tried hard to sign him before he went to Real; anyone who has seen him play, what's his best position?
  16. Anyone know how Diego Capel is doing at Sevilla these days? I think Spurs wanted to sign him for £12.5 mill when Comolli was there.
  17. If Redknapp becomes England manager, you can see Tottenham looking at Coyle.
  18. Apart from being useful in the air in some PL games, Kyriakos is an average defender, overall. Whats the point of having Danny Wilson if he's not going to be given opportunities in the Europa?
  19. Wenger isn't a great tactician. Let's not forget though, Barca, for all their good play, could've been knocked out had Bendtner controlled that ball properly.
  20. Don't know if I heard him correctly. I think he said that if you pay 5 at the back you have a better chance of suppressing their play with your wing backs pushing their fullbacks back. He also touched upon how Barcelona always try to look at playing through the middle with their CMs, but the fullbacks are always nearby to provide an alternative option. As such, playing 3 CBs will create a bigger obstacle for their players to try and go through the team centrally, and the wing backs will be cutting out the option their fullbacks provide. I think that's what he was alluding to; but suggested this as an option to restrict their play and make life more difficult for them. Not necessarily stop them from playing.
  21. Jack Wilshere is a fantastic player. He has actually got the heart and determination to match his immense technical ability.
  22. Don't know how true as its' Twitter, thought I'd post it any way; would be great if it was though!: Tim Ward @Tim_LFC8 Tim Ward According to the Italian press, Liverpool were the club that offered 27.5m for Sanchez. Interesting..
  23. Unfortunately, you'd have to rely on perennial bottlers Arsenal for that to happen.
