  1. Fine, the one further up was maybe a bit on the 'not nice' end, but I'm not following him around and insulting him, by any means.
  2. However that may be, and however much you encourage other to form their own opinion, as soon as some statement can be shown to be wrong or wrong-ish, there you come, riding in on your high horse. I am perfectly aware that you don't care one iota about how I might feel about your massive arrogance, so I won't bother mentioning it again. I will repeat, though, that it is very unattractive and tedious. I'm sure you have noticed that very few her are interested in discussing actual topics with you. Most just gets very annnoyed with the things you choose to type. Ever wondered why that is?
  3. That's cause you're shit scared of being one the end of an "I told you so" from another fan.
  4. It was a very dramatic 2-2 draw. The blues took the lead in the first half thanks to an own goal by Hyypia, but the second half saw us turn it around with two penalties by Kuyt, the first one awarded when Hibbert brought down Gerrard, the second at the stroke of full time when Neville stopped the ball from going in with his hand. Both Everton men were sent of, but even with nine players The People's Club managed to get the last laugh when Lescott slotted home another spot kick on 94 minutes, after he himself had been manhandled by Carragher inside the area. That's what really happened, on Oct 20th 2007.
  5. Sorry about my very slow typing of the other posts, the thread takes twists and turns I can't follow! Anyway, no news, that's why we're stuck with the Oct'07 derby.
  6. I just had to check to see, and it took 18 minutes from the first penalty to the substitution. Surely, it is possible that Gerrard started playing less and less with his brain during this time? I don't remember all that much about the game (just the DRAMA!!) but the explanation seemed plausible enough. You have, of course, a very good point about the brainlessness of Sissoko, but my point is that there are two different debates here, one on what he did (rightly or wrongly) and the other on what he said about why he did it. I fell that the criticism should not be fierce on the last one.
  7. This is all fine and agree-able. The point, though, or one point at least, is that a) he did not question Gerrard's intelligence, that was made up by goatboy59, and b) the explanation for the substitution is valid. He thought that Gerrard was disrupting the balance of the team, so he acted accordingly. He might have a good (or bad) answer to the question about Sissoko, but to my knowledge he was never asked. I have no doubt that Benitez expected to get criticised or questioned, and it didn't seem to come as a surprise to him, if I remember correctly. He explained the tactical reasons behind the switch, pure and simple. Furthermore, I don't think the words "best player", "captain", local lad" and "derby" mean much to Benitez when there's a tactical decision to be made.
  8. Can't be arsed reading through the old Degen thread, but it might be hard for people to have a view (which is not the same as a cathegorical judgement, by the way) on a player they might not even have seen play. If that was the case, trusting Rafa was quite sensible at the time. That "look, I told you! I was right!" routine is the least charming thing going at the moment. That is my view (because Rafa said so).
  9. He said something along the lines of "we needed to play more with our heads than with our hearts" when commenting on replacing Gerrard with Lucas that particular time. Obviously, this means that he thinks that Gerrard is a stupid English git, while he himself has a Big Spanish Brain. You see, when he says this, he means that Gerrard is permanently unintelligent (of course, he is the captain after all), he does not believe that there is any chance that a normal man might find it hard to keep a cool head after a long and intense battle against a tough opponent. Rafa doesn't believe in the connection between physical and mental fatigue, he just believes that Gerrard is not bright.
  10. Why on earth would they want Babel, Voronin and Dossena? Try Babel, Voronin, Dossena, Degen and Plessis! They'll do business then!;)
  11. Wasn't that the name of a band once upon a time?
  12. Is this what's called Battle of the Banned?
  13. Sources very close to me have confirmed that my hair smells really nice.
  14. Going on what we have today, I'd start the season with Gerrard and Mascherano in midfield behind a 3 of Riera or Babel, Benayoun and Kuyt. That team should be able to fend off Spurs and being quite the danger on the break. This set up should also manage to deal with any league opponent through September: Stoke, Villa Burnley and Hull at home, Bolton and West Ham away.
  15. When I post this, post count on my front page says 10 000. Woo hoo! EDIT: Too late...
  16. Yes, they are advocating totally irresponsible sexual behaviour. Have they not heard of the clap, or the Grandgore?
