  1. 1. Alonso (by thousand miles) 2. Insua (looked OK when he came on, actually) 3. Hyypia (doesn’t deserve it. Then again playing CB, fullback and holding midfielder at the same time isn’t easy. We only let 4 in. Playing in a team with Lucas/Plessis/Degen/Dossena that’s remarkably well done) I agree with all that’s been said about Degen and Drossena. I’d like to add that our central midfield, Plessis and Lucas, were both almost as bad. Couldn’t keep the ball, couldn’t pass, couldn’t control the ball and offered absolutely nothing to protect our back four. Lucas’ had his chances now, enough is enough. Plessis? My god, how anyone can rate this guy is beyond me? Watchin on Tv; if someone passes the ball to him, you can get up cook your favourite meal, eat it, watch your bird do the dishes, have wonderful sex with her, go back to the sofa and there’s still plenty of time left before the kid actually controls the pass. I blame the yanks. They want players like this so they can put in commercials while the game’s being played. A pass goes to Plessis and “… now a word from our sponsors…”.
  2. Lil’ Luis is in fact playing for Atletico now, not for us. If he was seen jumping up and down in front of the Kop embracing the supporters at row 1, how would you react to that if you were an Atletico fan? It’s certainly something Lil’ Luis had to consider. It’s not just about showing us his appreciation, it’s also about not pissing off the fans of his new club. I won’t hold this against him. I’m sure he appreciates the superb reception from the Anfield crowd.
  3. I’ve stayed in Ibis once, 5-6 years ago. Nice hotel, just by the Albert Dock. Certainly not in any danger area, wherever that would be in the friendly city of Liverpool. I recommend it. It doesn’t have twin rooms only doubles, which should suite you fine as you’re going with your bird. A short 5 min walk to shopping, pubs, restaurants, city centre. No problem mate, enjoy yourself. Ta
  4. Thanks for the link. Took a while to go through it. The figures are from the summer of 2007, so I guess we’re still a bit in the dark Our debt is probably 105M now and Kop Football Holding (KFH) is 245M in debt partly secured against our assets, but also against G+H personal assets. Anyone knows how much G+H had to put up as collateral? The loans are both serviced at an interest that looks to be a little under 9%. This means interest payments of around 30M a year, as reported in the press. The club has to service this by giving dividends to KFH, as KFH has no other income source to service their loan. On the other hand, had we had another investor paying 245M cash for the club, I’m sure he’d demand a 10% yearly dividends on his investment, so status quo in that department. Things may not be as bad as I feared. Still, with 30M a year interest payments, how are we supposed to be able to spend anything on improving our team? To keep up our income level we’d have to. What puzzles me is why G+H want so much to keep hold of such a risky investment when the potential return on investment is as bad as it seems? How can they value the club at 1 billion or even 500M? Something fishy’s going on here…
  5. Even if you’re right G+H is here to stay long term, I don’t believe one minute we’ll ever be able to persuade them to do it the Liverpool Way. They won’t be interested in that as it’s got nothing to do with greed and money. I despise those two leaches, they’re ruining something dare to me and might cripple Liverpool FC for years to come. Rather than try teaching them anything I’ll support any effort done to get them out. Maybe it’s a battle that can’t be won as you predict. If so I’ll rather stay with the losers fighting the impossible battle. I’ll rather go down with my head up high, than to survive bowing. Also sad but true
  6. Thanks mate, and sorry if I offended you. I agree there’s no better way to get information on the actual situation than reading a report that requires independent validation. You seem to have assembled a lot of info. Could you enlighten me with info on how much the actual debt was before the yanks came in and what it is now, LFC and Kop Holding combined?
  7. Yep, never say never. Nothing could stop Ronnie from scoring those few last months of the season in 1990. Whatever happened after that? A strange player Rosenthal, not exactly Mr Reliable Consistency was he? Those goals at the end of that season secured our last title for 18 years. Who would’ve thought that back then?
  8. One right and one wrong. The right one: There’s no 3rd option. The wrong one: There’s no 2nd option. Getting behind them? Give me a break! It would be like getting behind Hitler in 1941 because there seemed to be no other option.
  9. Some months ago, rumours said Gillette was afraid because he had received death threats. However disgusting it is threatening to kill someone, I believe he’s a bit soft taking them threats seriously. If he, on the other hand, were to sell Torres with Liverpool 5 points clear at the top of the table, he would have real reason to be afraid, very afraid. Can’t see it happening before the summer. The coward won’t dare to.
  10. Seems to me you’re basing your opinion on what’s been said by the same people who promised you a new stadium, no debt on the club etc. In matters concerning the economical situation of our club, I’ve stopped believing anything, especially info coming from the club itself. I hope though, you’re right I’m not. In any case only the future will tell.
  11. If before the season you were offered a 2:1 bet on us winning any of the first 10 matches, what match would you've put your money on? I know I would've had my bet on the Stoke match. Easy fixtures or not, we'll have to wait and see.
  12. I agree Mr Taylor’s stirring things up. I agree his dream of a fan’s 500M takeover is just that, a dream. However he’s got a valuable point, and you're very wrong just slagging it off as bullshit. Maybe the club’s debt is no more than 105M, or maybe our respected custodians have changed that, I don’t know and it’s not important. If the club doesn’t service the loan taken up by Kop Holding (KH) or whatever it’s called, KH would probably go into bankruptcy. I’ll tell you what will happen then. The creditors will take over KH’s assets, which is Liverpool FC. They’ll want their money, not to run a football club. If the club can’t afford to pay off the creditors, someone else has too, or we’ll be ripped and sold piece by piece. So the fact is, if LFC doesn’t service both the 105M placed on the club AND the 200M+ on KH, we’re fucked. If the parent company goes down, so do we. The leeches are eating us up from inside, and I’m very concerned. Big Big trouble lies ahead me thinks. I only hope we’ll be able to get that holy 19th grail before we go down. Then we can rebuild from wherever, the fanbase will always be there, administration or not. Some sunny day we’ll bounce back
  13. Some years ago Keegan's Newcastle played some superb football and by Xmas they led the league by 10 lenghts before the final strecth. Then they bought Asprilla, IMO a very good player. With Asprilla their play changed, and suddenly they started loosing ground including a 4-3 defeat at Anfield, and was caught by the mancs at the wire. Without Asprilla, would Newcatsle have continued the way they did before Xmas? Nobody knows, but the moral is: When something's working, be careful not to fuck it up! If we're leading the league by 5-6 points in Jan, I personally hope we don't buy anyone but stick to what we've got.
  14. If you win all your matches you end up with 114 points. To end the season at 90 p, which should be more than enough to win, we can loose 12 points before and after Xmas. We've lost 4 points so far. If we loose against Arsenal, we can "afford" to loose 5 more and still be on course for 90 points. And who says we can't beat those cockneys? Things are looking great. I just pray the God of Good Fortune doesn't turn against us. God of Good Fortune has been our most consistent player so far.
  15. 1. Arbeloa 2. Hyypia 3. Gerrard Good team spirit now. We didn't play well but unlike last year everybody looked desperate to avoid a scoreless draw. We got the reward we deserved.
  16. Imaginary conversation between Gaylord (UEFA) and Jesus Pitarch, Director of Sport, Valencia FC. Monday Sept 20th 9. am G: Hi there Jesus, old pal. How’s life? JP: Thanks G, what can I do for you? G: You see, the day after tomorrow we have this match between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. As you know we’ve banned Calderon, and I wonder if we could borrow Mestalla? JP: You mean we should arrange it for you. Distributing tickets, organizing police and security, the lot? G: Yeah, that’s it JP: There’ll be travellers coming to town won’t it. How many do you expect down here? G: Only 40.000-50.000 JP: Sure mate, that’ll be no problem. I’ll just call the hotels around and book 30.000 rooms, I’m sure they have plenty of rooms available, no problem. If not they could spend the night in one of our beautiful parks, or stay at my place Sure thing mate, just send them down here. G: Thanks, knew I could count on you.
  17. Exactly. If UEFA doesn’t let Atletico use the Calderon next Wed, they need to find someone else who’s willing to arrange it. Who? If I were Chief of Police in Bilbao, Valencia or where ever my answer would be: “NO fuc*** way!” UEFA acting before they think again me thinks. My god they must be slow thinkers. They act slower than a lame turtle, still they act faster than they think. Will be interesting to see what excuse they’ll come up with when they decide the match will be played in Madrid after all.
  18. 1. Alonso 2. Kuyt 3. Skrtel 4-6 Gerrard, Torres and Carra
  19. Well, that’s the problem isn’t it? You take for granted they really want (or at least wanted) to build a new stadium. I’m being increasingly convinced they never meant to build anything at all. There are plenty of good reasons to present new stadium plans to the fans and media without actually meaning to go forward with the plans. Why the 70K seater now? They now perfectly well they’ll not get the nod for more than a 60K stadium. Come January and they can tell us how the city council are to blame for not accepting the new plans. Convenient wouldn’t you say?
  20. I take it you’re on here not as a Liverpool fan and that’s OK. Maybe Gillette is a hockey fan, maybe he’s doing something good for the Canadians, I really don’t know? Maybe Hicks isn’t exploiting the Texas Rangers fans, again I don’t know. But I do know what they’re doing to Liverpool FC. They’ve loaded the club itself with huge debts. We’re supposed to pay interest for those loans in excess of our profits. Before they came there were profits that could be used to strengthen our team, now that money’s gone. And that’s got nothing to do with any new stadium. As you probably is aware of nothing’s been done to start build a new stadium. We’ve bought some fine players yes, but they’re all bought with loans that threatens to strangle us. We’ve heard loads of promises from our owners, all proven later to be lies. You don’t really expect us to believe more promises do you? New stadium plans? I'm having a laugh. The fact is our owners are driving us towards bankruptcy. On the way they seem to make as much cash for themselves as they can. Leverage business is that what it’s called? They haven’t sold our best players you say. Not yet I answer. We’re not an investment for them, we’re their cash cow. And it’s getting increasingly hard for us to breathe, they’re strangling us.
  21. Didn’t know your kind still existed, a boycotter at last! I’m also on my own silly private boycott, but our efforts looks pointless don’t you think? All I see is people one minute yelling “Yanks out!” next minute lining up to fill their pockets. A new sales record for the club shop, that’s how effective our boycott will prove to be.
  22. Both club and fans are to blame. In an ideal world no fan should pay more than face value for a ticket (a thank you beer and maybe a donation to one of the Hillsborough groups apart). And no fan should accept more than face value when passing on their ticket. The club should do their utmost to avoid touting incl. the “legal touting” they’re supporting today by giving tickets to travel agencies etc. Jonte is avoiding his moral duties by saying “if I don’t someone else will”. Those passing on tickets for a profit use the same phrase as their excuse. Here’s a word for your kind: Solidarity. You’ll find the meaning of the word in the dictionary. The not so funny thing is. With the technology of today it should be pretty easy to apply a fair and just way to distribute the tickets, taking care of both local support and long distance support. To say OOT’s like Jonte should go only to the low profile games is a bit unfair. However, local fans being squeezed out of the big games for economical reasons is mighty unfair. There are ways to sort this out. If only someone would put me ion charge of the T.O.
  23. Masch would have gotten my vote if he'd done his job on the first mancs goal. Benny was immense too, and apart from the first 15 mins Riera's debut was more than I hoped for. Hard to pick a MOM this time but I go for: 1. Dirk 2. Aurelio 3. Carra
  24. Honestly, no, but player for player I think we're pretty close. I didn't think we fielded a better team than Chelsea in that Charity shield match either. And I don't believe Standard Liege has better players than us, still we needed the help of pure luck to beat them. What I do believe, however, is that team spirit and being in the right state of mind is essential. With a positive approach I do think we can win it, in style!
