Anyone know if the game is being shown live on TV ?

Yep, I'd go with that with the exception of Agger in to give Carra a rest. Agger needs games and Carra needs a rest.
  3. I thought Giles’s synopsis of Rafa as a manager was quite accurate last night. He believes Rafa has great qualities that all great managers require ( eg decision making, getting the players to work hard and play for you, respect etc ) but he also thinks Rafa is flawed on his fundamental beliefs on how the game should be played. Basically, Rafa prefers workers who will sweat blood for the cause ; a micro manager obsessed with formations and fitness levels, to the point perhaps where the fact that some players aren’t ideally suited to some positions at all becomes irrelevant in his mind as long as they “do a job”. A manager who appears to overly concentrate on the opposition where stopping them playing seems to be his main concern. Last night was an excellent result for us but Reira’s brief contribution apart, I thought we were atrocious in the 2nd half and Rafa’s substitutions (Benayoun) and starting team selection (Lucas for Alonso ?) were poor.
  4. At least we would then be spared those shite cheesy ads with that annoying twat (whoever he is)
  5. I no way should Kuyt start on saturday. It will be a game where Stoke have evryone behind the ball and we will need some pace and creativity to get around the back of them. Also, might be a good time to give Degen a run out and see how he gets on and Agger and Sami to give Skirtel and Carra a rest. Reina Degen Agger Sami Dossena Babel Alonso Gerrard Reira Keane Torres
  6. Didn't that prick call Carra a bottler for quitting England ??
  7. This is a huge game for us, and Rafa. If Rafa goes for the jugular and we beat them, then I believe we will be serious contenders for the title this season. No sitting back and letting them dictate the game. No, "a point will be good enough". Go at the cunts from the first whistle. Give them no time on the ball, no respect shown. Oh, and calm The Chief down a bit ! :P
  8. Is the incompetant buffoon still getting on the coach with the players ?
  9. But surely he is obliged to at least have a quick look into the background of the people who are buying your club to see what type of people they are ? He obviously didn't and now we are paying for his mistake.......
  10. If we don't mount a credible challenge again this season, and say Dubai take over in the summer, do you think Dubai would trust Rafa with their millions ? Do you think Rafa will ever change his cautious nature ?
  11. That's fair enough, but there are a few on here who have stated that we definitely won't win the league under Rafa but they still don't want him replaced. I find that strange. This is Rafa's 5th year. He really needs to put in a credible title challenge this season. I believe if he changes his mindset a little bit and lets the players play a bit more freely in some matches, we could win this league. On the other hand, I also believe that if he tries to "control" every game from the sidelines with the usual cautious tactics, we have no chance of a realistic challenge and he should be replaced at the end of the season.
  12. and being a good crosser of the ball......... Maybe if he was quick enough, he could get on the end of his own crosses
  13. I don't agree. I don't think the yanks give a shit who is charge or whether we actually win anything at all. As long as people turn up and hand over the money, they will be happy.
  14. ISR = I'm Secretly Rash ??
  15. A friend of mine (another LFC fan) sent me this. Don't know what site he got it from or if its true but it's allegedlt a reply from Oliver Kay to some guy who questioned his article in The Times the other day regarding Dubai : Thanks for your e-mail. I detected a note of frustration in what you wrote and I can understand that. Almost a year after the Dubai link resurfaced, you are clearly looking for hard evidence that something has changed, rather than a reporter simply saying that things are (or appear to be) changing. I understand why you may feel that you are reading the same old things over and again and that nothing ever changes. BUT ... things are changing. I have it on very good authority (or authorities) that Hicks and Gillett are reaching or, in one case, have reached the point where they know they can't take LFC forward. I know that their financial positions are increasingly parlous, I know that they are coming under growing pressure from the banks and I also now know that they are genuinely unnerved by developments at Manchester City, which is something I merely hinted at yesterday. Am I in a position to say exactly how this will play out? No. Am I able to say what their next move will be? No. Am I willing to name my sources? Absolutely not, sorry. The Arabs haven't spoken for months; it is not their style. We haven't heard a peep out of the Americans for months, but, significantly, we did not even get the usual and expected Hicks denial today. As for Staveley, she does not talk to the media -- or so I thought until I heard that she had been on BBC radio last night confirming that talks are ongoing etc and that Dubai remain interested "at the right price". I really can understand you becoming cynical about this takeover saga, particularly after things happened so quickly at Manchester City, but everything I am hearing on this points to Hicks and Gillett reaching breaking point in the coming months (before that January 25 deadline) and selling to Dubai. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I hope I've answered most of your questions and allayed your suspicions that I was merely fantasising ... All the best -- and fingers crossed it will get sorted out quickly because, believe me, I'm as sick of this as you are ..." Oli
  16. Well, what about if Anfield was practically empty for every match ? If every LFC fan was told NOT to turn up for any matches or buy ANY merchandise until the cunts have gone ? And aren't Torres, Gerrard etc all on contracts ? They don't have to go anywhere if they don't want to. OK, I know the above is highly unlikely to happen but if it did, there is fuck all they could do about it.
  17. There would be riots if the cunts sold Torres !!
  18. Chill out, will you ? Nobody is saying that. It's just that some fans are just pissed off that after 4 years under Rafa, we still, by and large, play pretty much shit, boring, negative football and he has a habit of playing a lot of players out of position to presumably suit his cautious system. That's all really.
  19. Yep...agree with that Can't see Dubai, if they ever took over, giving hundreds of millions to Rafa to buy strikers to "work hard" on the wings !
  20. You make some good points about the club ownership but I don't see how that affected the way we played yesterday, or have played for quite some time now....or more specifically, the extremely negative way our manager approaches most games away from home since he has been here. For instance, if the yanks had given the £18m to Rafa for Barry, do you honestly think he would suddenly drop the caution and go out like Utd and Arsenal and attack Villa from start to finish ? To be honest, I wouldn't really have a problem with a top 4 finish as long as we at least challenge the leaders till the last few weeks and play some decent football along the way. But we do neither.
  21. Well, if we're not going to win the league under anyone, why don't we at least get in a manager who will play his best team in their best positions and attempt to play an expansive, creative, attacking game and fucking entertain the fans the odd time ? Not all but an awful lot of the football played by us over the last 4 years has been boring and extremely negative...designed not to lose rather than win. As someone else pointed out, drawing ten games gives you less points than winning 5 or 6 and losing the rest.
