  1. Why is that wrong(that he tried to get the club on the cheap)? It was only wrong for Moores' pocket; the same guy who found G&H fit and proper to offload Liverpool to. Moores and his pet Parry manipulated media and public opinion for years about Morgan. He certainly would not have been quite as bad as G&H.
  2. and if that doesn't happen and we find ourselves in a very difficult position in January-February, then the rumours and endless debates will start for Rodgers his choices and "his systems", until he loses his job and every half full glass guy will turn and say, "but he lost the plot", "didn't have a clue", "Dempsey for Carroll? wtf". I've seen this before. We'll see what happens. One is certain, this summer FSG had plenty of time with many available options(Capello, AVB, Van Gaal, Benitez etc..) and no real pressure to decide on a manager, a director of football and players. Let's hope they got it right. EDIT: I voted for 4th place.
  3. Sadly, I've read something similar on the fiorentina .it website about Aquilani. In order to get rid of him and his contract liverpool are willing to pay 5m(!) euros from the 7-9m that will receive as transfer fee in order to motivate him to agree to a transfer to Fiorentina where they offer him only 1.8m per season. So practically Liverpool appears willing to cover part of the money Aquilani will be losing from transfering to Fiorentina with much lower wages(less than half).
  4. So.... we will eventually sell Carroll so we can then buy Dempsey. I can't see the improvement. It's going to be a very difficult season.
  5. Indeed and that's exactly how we ended up a midtable mediocrity.
  6. Top class and pacey usually comes with a huge price both in wages and transfer fees. Also I'm not sure if top class defenders would be queuing to join Liverpool. If Agger goes for 20m+, sign Ramirez and use Kelly as CB.
  7. But Carroll came to replace a player who was earning more than 100k, so the club managed to save some wages, already. In return they'd have to wait for the new striker to develop and nurture him. Patience is the price you pay when you replace your Number 9 with a 22yr prospect. Now they're showing him the door, to replace him with someone younger(?), better(?) and on top of that cheaper(?). To sum up, you are suggesting that we should drop our wage ceiling under 80k and still be competitive, keep hold of our key players and challenge for the top four? This is possible only in neverland, imo.
  8. Strange that this "idea of developing a young.... where the youth players are expected to fill some of the squad places " doesn't include Andy Carroll. Last time I checked his age it said 23 and was signed just before he turns 22. But the idea of young and lean mught for example include a 29yr old forward from Fulham. Just saying...
  9. It's funny that everybody concentrates on the money included in the offer for Agger and not its symbolic meaning. If it is true that the Great Dane wants to go, then there is another sign that there is something deeply rotten within the club and that having no more as an aim to get back to the Top 4 didn't help to convince our top players to sign a new contract. Of course there were many signs from the owners about the club's direction, like overlooking someone like Van Gaal and hiring a manager with less experience in the PL than Andy Carroll.
  10. I have not read anything about Spurs. It must be their summer illusion. I think you are right about AC Milan though. It's all over the Italian media and Galliani is milking it, every day, droping hints in every chance. I think they will sign him.
  11. Sorry to ruin it. I don't know about Ben Smith et al., but Aquilani's agent dismissed today on the Florence Radio and said that Aquilani is calm and happy at Liverpool and that "the numbers" do not allow any discussion and that there is no financial basis for a move(transfer to Fiorentina) or the rumours. He insisted Aquilani will normally be back to Liverpool on Tuesday. You can find the source on the "fiorentina . it" website (I'm not allowed to post the URL as I have to make 15 posts or more first) If you speak Italian you will see the irony of the Fiorentina fans commenting. Don't seem to want him or rate him at all: "i.e. But, who wants him?, who cares?, phewwww etc... )?
  12. Hello everybody. I hope we sign Allen and Ramirez. Our transfer handlings have been problematic for many years, though. First it was Villa and Barry, then Spurs and Keane, then Adam and Blackpool, now Allen and Swansea. Surely it can't always be the other club's fault. We also seem to have no patience with players. We've sent Keane back after only 6 months, we are trying to do the same with Carroll, we've tried to offload Aquilani in Italy. It can't always be Juve's, MIlan's, Newcastle's fault, for trying to screw us. We're going there asking for it because we seem to have no patience with our signings.
