  1. There was one recent home game (Wolves?) where Mo Salah's mascot was taller than him.
  2. The BBC posted the video of the VAR goal and the own goal during their FA Cup text stream on the Sport website.
  3. "The fallout continues. The Reds set ticket prices at a sensible level but understandably lower league clubs don’t like the precedent being set because less gate receipts means a smaller share for Shrewsbury. Interestingly, it isn’t Shrewsbury who are complaining. In fact, their boss said he fully understands Klopp’s actions (and having watched him explain his position in today's press conference, so I do now and I'm fine with it). Of course, the prospect of a money spinning tie at Chelsea should they beat our team of kids may well be a contributing factor in Sam Ricketts' support, but the point is, Shrewsbury aren’t being dicks about this even if others are." Hold the back page - some late moans coming from Salop: https://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/football/shrewsbury-town-fc/2020/02/03/sam-ricketts-shrewsbury-town-missing-out-on-fa-cup-windfall-at-liverpool/ But it doesn't seem to have deterred the supporters as all 8000 tickets have been sold for tonight.
  4. "Danny Ings is a top fella though and I hope he scores every week from now until May. Except this week. And even then, as long as we’re scoring three or four then I don’t even mind if he slots tomorrow because I’d be made up if he won’t he Golden Boot." I bet that Danny Ings walked off the pitch yesterday in total disbelief that he hadn't scored a couple. He was a threat all afternoon.
  5. And it pays to remember that one person's Aguero moment could be somebody else's Michael Thomas moment. This way, this year is much more the best way to win it.
  6. The modern day equivalent of "the dog ate my homework, sir"
  7. Okay - but you can't just leave Wednesday out of the diary for a week. Anyway, If Wednesday had appeared I would have expected some mention of Bronto-Matic, Big strides United and short-armed Pickford at least. It would have been like a Biology class.
  8. I thought about this after my earlier post and came to a similar conclusion - what if it is the "Virgil ring of confidence" that has made them perform so much better than this in previous games this season. Clearly Joe didn't suffer from this in game against Everton - if anything he shone more than usual as a result of being out of Virgil's shadow.
  9. Fair report on what was a very poor team performance. Fully agree on the root cause - the three stooges in the centre of the field. No enthusiam, no leadership and no common sense between them. The total opposite to Lallana & Gomez in the last round. Shrewsbury have the second worst attack (based on goals scored) in League 1 - the top scorer has 4 goals - and Liverpool's defence made them look like Brazil in the second half.
  10. Topped off with a great photo - even if the ball hits P(r)ickford it would still be a goal!
  11. After the game at Anfield at Christmas, I always knew that this game was going to be a battle. And so it proved. Unlike most teams, Wolves will really go at it toe-to-toe. Yes, some LFC players played below their best, but as a team Liverpool stood tall and excelled. That's why Klopp was so pleased after the game. Also loved Nuno's comments after the game - he knew how close Wolves had got to Liverpool and he knows how much closer they can be in the future.
  12. Great round-up Dave. Almost as long as The Irishman - but a lot more laughs. I thought the Walcott drawing was a small (yappy) dog - now I'm not so sure.....
  13. Agree on the Matic foul late on - especially as he got away with a high boot after he'd been booked. I also couldn't understand why it took so long for "big-boned" Luke Shaw to get booked.
  14. Agree with you there, Dave as there's no point to kicking off when the VAR get out of jail card has still to be played. It does beg the question as what De Gea said/did to actually get booked, though. Also, why weren't Wolves charged for their vastly superior show of petulance at Anfield?
  15. Sterling stepped up to take it and was denied by the keeper. Then VAR intervened again to rule that Conor Coady had encroached and because he cleared the ball, the kick needed to be retaken. Coady wasn’t in the box but he was in the ‘D’ and that’s not allowed. Even as a schoolkid I knew that, but as we’ve discovered over the last couple of days poor Conor struggles a little bit when it comes to understanding the rules of the game. That's the only reason for the D - to make sure everyone (but the keeper, obviously) is at least 10 yards away from the ball when a penalty is taken.
  16. Too right about the so-called "expert" pundits - all Robbie Savage did on 606 was try to goad every LFC caller into stating that the title race was over.
  17. Rewind to Dec 29th 2010 - Liverpool 0 Wolves 1 on a very cold night at Anfield, probably the most miserable time I have ever spent at a football match (even if it was the final nail in Roy's coffin). Liverpool were woeful and clueless against a poor Wolves who got off the bottom of the league with that win. Rewind 24 hours and on a cold afternoon at Anfield we saw an assured Liverpool battle their way to a deserved win whilst not firing on all cylinders. Witness Lallana's tackle on Traore (mentioned in Dave's report) when already on a booking. Salah battling for every ball upfront despite having the towering Kilman hanging all over him (forget Taylor awarding a foul for that). Bobby chasing lost causes all over the field. Mane doing his bit for the team by doubling up on Traore for the last 20 minutes. Gini & Hendo battling for everything in midfield despite all the pushing and pulling going on. And the back four just doing their jobs - as usual. A team with the heart (and soul) of a champion.
  18. We actually have an extra day leading up to Sheffield Utd than we had for Wolves - so picking the strongest side available is the correct option.
  19. I thought it was the label for dodgy 4* Mexican Brandy
  20. Doesn't read like a rush job. Fair report - I thought Keita was impressive going forward and Lallana worked hard. Shaq & Origi were a disappointment - even though Div did almost provide another assist with a "disguised pass" like he did against Watford. We bossed the game once Sadio & Trent came on - a few of their players were suffering with cramp before the end. Sublime pass from TAA to Bobby for the goal, which gets better every time I re-see it.
  21. Great summation of both the game and the situation, Dave. The youngest ever LFC 1st team more than held their own and if it had ended 3-1 or 4-2 it would have been a fairer reflection of the game. As Dave says the Villa keeper was probably MOM.
