  1. But at Barca they was in a similar situation to us (obviously not as bad) but albeit the players he brought in or the talent he nutured whilst there he must be given massive credit to the Barca we see now. The likes on Xavi was always a very good player but Rijkaard brought him onto the world stage where he shone and started getting the credit he deserved. Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Messi, Deco, Eto'o, Puyol etc shone under his leadership and became "world class"
  2. I really hope this is true, his agent is hardly going to come out whilst he is still officially manager of Galatasaray and say "yes, its true Liverpool have sacked Hodgson and Frank is taking over tonight" its all politics at the moment, Liverpool must sort things out with Hodgson before they can "name" Rijkaard. I would love this to be true, he is a young successful manager, small blip with Galatasaray but realistically how many people can comfortably adapt to the Turkish way of life, its a different world with a different mentallity.
  3. Apparently breaking news in turkey about Rijkaard's quit and they are saying he's been offered the Liverpool job. Don't know how true this is as nothings been confirmed yet.
  4. Why are people saying no to Mourinho, he is without doubt the best manager in the world. Regardless of past issues with him he is perfect for us, young and expierenced. Kenny should not be given the job, how can you give the job to a man who hasn't managed in nearly 10 years where the game has changed so much, and his last 2 managing jobs were near disasters! Personally if Mourinho is not an option mine would be Rijkaard, if he was successful and stayed a while we would have developed a style of play starting from youth up like Wenger has done at Arsenal. Rijkaard has a good record of producing and giving youngsters a chance, with the likes of Suso, Sterling and the academy boys we have some exciting youngsters which he could nurture into potential world class players.
  5. to be fair tha means fuck all mate, (the goals stats) he's played half the amount of games than everyone else on that list so the games to goal ratio will obviously be better. If it was still the same after 150plus games then its a very good ratio, he's world class on his day, I just dont believe he will get "his day" whilst still at liverpool, whether thats fitness, attitude, bad players around him, systems or whatever other excuse people keep making for him. He will not start for spain no more, Llorente is on fire for club and country and he surpassed torres in the team. if by some chance someone offers 50m in january you would have to sell him, doesnt matter how good he was or can be, he doesnt play enough to justify keeping him. imo. by the way im a massive torres fan when he looks interested in is on fire, at the moment its his attitude which does me
  6. He's clearly not the best striker in the world as some have put it, would you seriously not swap him for drogba or villa? considering villa has less caps for spain and scored nearly twice as many, whilst some times playing on the left. he went for £35m is Torres worth more? I personally dont think so. torres doesnt offer nothing else to a team other than goals, when hes scoring he is one of the best, but when he isnt theres no point him being on the pitch as he doesnt do anything else, drogba for example doesnt need to score to play well because hes always involved creating chances for teamates and generally causing havoc.
  7. I been watching SSN all day, I'm largely undecided whether or not this is a good move. Obvisiously they are not going to throw money at the club Man City style but are they the right people WE as fans want to take over? I know pretty much anyone is better than the rats we already got, the fans need to be happy with the ownership this time or we will end up back in the same boat, months/years down the line. Your thoughts?
  8. Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Poulsen, Gerrard, Cole, Meireles, Torres, Kuyt Starting XI vs Blackpool Whilst that line-up is not the strongest we possess its still good enough to stay up, but no where near challenging for the league, Champions League qualifying place, bearly even a Europa League place. How many of them playing today would get in the Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Tottenham, Aston Villa teams? Didnt anyone at the club realise aswell after 2 years of stop start seasons, you simply cannot rely on Torres to be fit and scoring for a 38 game season, and maybe just maybe another very good striker would have been more beneficial than the likes of Poulson.
  9. We need some width in our team and I'm not sure 3-5-2 would do it, more than likely just end up 5-1-2-2 knowing Hodgeson, I also dont agree with people saying play Johnson as our wide midfielder, I know its too late and he's all we got but he definately isnt worth 17m as a wide midfielder for that money we could have got someone alot better. Any ideas for potential wingers? I thought Martin Petrov on a free would have been a good bit of business, he always impressed while at Man City.
  10. thats where the wide players need to tuck in when needed, Mata pretty much plays that role now for Valencia and Cole more often played the role for Chelsea
  11. I agree that constantly changing formation and approaches towards matches is dispruptive, but as I said buy a better left back than Konchesky, Aquilani in for Lucas and Mata on the left wing (someone we've already been linked with) and then we have a solid team in which we can move on from these 0-0 draws and constant poor performances, its got to be worth a try. IF and a big IF the club actually gets sold before the next transfer window then we would able to attract the sort of player to fit this formation. A formation in which Barca, Chelsea, Arsenal and to a degree Man Utd use to a good deal of success.
  12. All the best teams in the world play with a 4-3-3 formation, would it be a disater copying Barca, Arsenal, Chelsea's etc blueprint, we probably got decent enough players to do it aswell Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Konchesky Gerrard Raul Lucas Kuyt Torres Cole Personally I'd bring Aquilani back in for Lucas, invest in a better left back and Mata in for Kuyt then its got the hallmarks of a potential good team, its not a embaressment to copy the better teams at the moment because we are just not good enough to "create" our own style
